Antique Vintage running horse Weathervane. This is not a Reproduction. Most reproductions are done in 2 halves, and this has 10 pieces welded together, so it definitely has vintage/antique age, but not sure of the date. The mount looks like from the 1950's. Early 20th century or could be earlier. Looks like early piece construction. With no damage. Just good looking. Solid. The balls are brass. And the rest is copper, with a wonderful patina. VINTAGE COPPER & BRASS HORSE WEATHERVANE FROM OLD BARN
Here is an old weathervane we found in an old horse born back in a grown over field. The horse is copper and the N E S W letters are solid brass. The ball is copper. And the mounting pole is metal. It was covered with years of dust when we found it, and pictures 1 and 2 show it before it was dusted off. Note the cobwebs and thick layer of dust on the horse and the N E S W. We dusted it off, but didn't fully clean it, as we wanted to let the new owner clean it to his or her preferenes. Pictures 4, 5, 6, 9 show the weathervane after it was dusted. It is a beautiful large weathervane that stands 44 inches tall from top of horse to bottom of metal pole. The horse is approximately 30 inches long. This looks like an old timer and it has been resoldered in a few places and there are a couple of splits in the brass here and there. Picture 7 shows ... morea split in the lower tube near the horses right foot, however it doesn't affect the way the weathervane operates. When a strong breeze is in the air, the horse will swivel on its pole as all weathervanes do. New owner may want to have it repaired, but that's a matter of choice. As mentioned previously, it needs a good cleaning, but the patina that's on it now makes it have that really vintage look. It served there on the top for over 90 years and was taken down before the barn was torn down. The weather vane is possibly made of copper and iron and is in good condition for its age. The horse has holes in it from being show but can be repaired easily and repainted if desired. This also includes the blue kite glass which is rare and hard to find. The glass is intact with no chips or cracks. The total height of the weathervane is 37" from top to bottom. It is 22" at the widest points. The horse is 8"x9" The glass kite tail is 8.5"x4" This great piece of antique. Farm folk art will make a great addition to any home or building décor.

This is vintage but I have no idea the age of it. I’ve had it for 30 years. It is in need of repair. The horse has become detached from the bar. All the other parts are intact but some of the metal parts have some rust and there are dents in the horse and the 2 balls. It measures 49” high x 29” wide. The piece the horse rests on is 30½” long. Very hard to locate these fine vintage horse vanes. Horse itself measures 11 inches long and 9 inches tall. Complete Horse and arrow vane measures 22 inches long. Great addition for an old weathervane collection. Unique and unusual horse has several small bullet holes. Most likely made by the farm kid's pellet gun. A third pellet hit the tail and left a dent. This copper weathervane form was made by soldering two pressed halves together on top of brass tubing. His ears were separately soldered onto his head. He is large enough to be a statement piece but still small enough that you can find a place to display him. He's mounted on a small 100+ year old hand hewn barn beam. Primitive Vintage Horse Drawn Carriage Weathervane Well. I am back from a monster shopping trip to the World’s Longest Yard Sale– we shop Ohio every year and then stop at some of my favorite spots in Indiana to buy from. Spent 2 whole days taking photos and still not done– I have a LOT and I’ll be listing for weeks. There’s something for everyone- primitive antiques, ephemera, military, railroad, industrial, farm finds– you name it, I have it and it’s all unique– you’ll want to keep checking, as I will list every day. Enjoy! Here's another Ohio beauty! It's a primitive cast metal weathervane in the image of a horse drawn carriage. The silver painted base is cast iron. And the rest is cast metal that I'm assuming may be aluminum- as a magnet does not stick to it. You have the directionals, and then the rotating arrow with the horse ... moreand carriage on the top. It has a blackblack finish- with the base painted silver, and a a hand painted silver 2" stripe" painted halfway up the base pole- see photo 6. I'm holding it in some of my photos because it didn't stand well on my rug- it has 4 screw mounting holes on the bottom, and was truly made to be mounted. That beind said, it is standing well on my flat desk now- and it will if you have a flat surface, but it's not extremely secure- being top heavy- so you know, in case you do not plan to mount it- it would have to be in a secure spot. It measures 22 1/4" tallest/to the top of the carriage, the arrow is 18" long, the directionals are 14" across- N to S, E to W, the body pole is 5/8' wide and the base is 3 1/2" diameter. It weighs a smidge under 2 1/2 lbs. Now, I took the top off for my photos, but needed a screw driver to take the rest apart- so I didn't for my photos, but we will take apart to ship- you will need to put it back together. This lovely old weathervane topper is made of two sheets of copper which have been formed on a mold to create dimension and detail. Then soldered together with ears applied. We found this handsome fellow in an old barn, covered with dust(cliche, but true! in New Hampshire. Displays beautifully. We had a hard time listing him as he does look amazing in our home! Okay onward. Measures: Horse is 28"L x 13 1/2"H. Total 14" H(with support bar) Support bar is 31" L x 1/2" Diameter Condition: Really good considering he's been sitting outdoors then in a dusty old barn for years. We expected. This Amish looking horse& buggy was possibly meant to be a weathervane topper. The estate owner found more decorative use as it was painted black on one side with the natural grey. Pot metal on the other. Both sides are very detailed in the molding. Overall measurement is 14.5"long& 6.25"height. There are 2 holes at the base where it was to be mounted to an arrow. Previous owner said it was off a lightning rod but I find that hard to believe as the pass-through mounting hole is a bit small. Approx. 7/16" Hole is on an angle so the horse is in a rearing position. Item is in well used condition with lots of patina. Multiple coats of flaking paint with lots of loss. No casting breaks. BEING FROM THE IRON FOUNDRY MAKES THIS A VALUABLE AND EXCEEDINGLY UNUSUAL WEATHER VANE. NOT VERY MANY STANDARD BRED RACE HORSES WERE MADE OF CAST IRON IN MID 1870s IN THE UNITED STATES. Some OTHER STYLE WEATHERVANES were made in eastern European foundries and are distinctive to that region and are quite identifiable. This one is American. Was installed on, and 135 years later found in a new Hampshire farm barn. The wood stand isn't being sold with the horse.

Vintage Aluminum Trotting Horse Weathervane This weathervane has been removed from the roof of a house built in the 1950's. Shows some wear due to being outside. I do not have the nuts/bolts for this weathervane. Because it was removed. There is some bending on the areas where it was attached. The arrow measures approximately 21 1/8" length. Stands approximately 25 5/8" tall. Two separate pieces. Horse can be removed from base.

Neat Old & Original Vintage Horse Weathervane with Lightning Rod & Ball Set up
Nice Vintage hollow bodied tin horse weathervane. Neat old horse vane is on the much desired triple heart front. Horse a measures 9 inches long. 7 1/2 inches tall and 1 inch thick. Whole weathervane is 21 1/2 inches long. Notice the triple heart front has some old paint on it. The lightning rod ball is a round 4 1/2 inch,pretty cobalt blue one. it too is very old and from the 1920's. The old lightning rod is a 5/8 inch copper fellow with nice patina and cast iron brace. Rod is 36 inches tall and even has the cable clamp adapter on the bottom. This is a sharp, very old weathervane set up. worthy of any nice lightning rod collection or single use and display. Welcome folks this item here appears to be the top of a horse weathervane? There are two holes on the bottom plate where it attached to something. I'm thinking a weathervane? It comes complete with the dirt& faded paint from were I found it! The tail& hair of the horse has groove lines in it for contrast/texture. There are chips& scratches in the paint. The paint is also flaking in spots. It appears to be cast allumin. This is one of those peices that you could do a lot with. One could attach hooks to it& make it a coat rack. Or make more little holes in the bottom plate& make a nice wind chime. You can do a lot with this peice. Please look at the pictures to determine the value of this item. This is for a Large Vintage Antique Iron Horse Drawn Buggy Fire Department Fire Fighters Firemen Weathervane Wind Vane Folk Art. It measures 36 1/2" inches by 16" inches. It is in absolutely great condition but has been shot a few times with a low powered BB gun because it did not penetrate or dent the weathervane. It Just barely knocked the paint off of the horse around the heart area. It is not warped or bent. It say Pisgah VFD. I Do not Know if it is Original Paint or not and all of The paint shows signs of age and there is minor surface rust here and there, Very Minimal) It was found in the NC Mountains in a Hay loft of an Old Barn.
