Vintage 1800's 16" Scissors Shears Dressmaking Tailor No Rsv Antique Industrial?
This auction is for a really great pair of antique scissors. They measure about 16 inches in length! They have what appears to be a brass hinge. We've seen others that were virtually identical listed as being faintly marked from 1845& made in New York. We can't find a stamp mark on ours. But believe that it could be there but due to age we can't see it. We were tempted to try to polish them up to see if we could find anything, but don't want to ruin the lovely patina these have. The blades are still straight and sharp and they cut very well. These are very big and very heavy! Please see pictures as they are part of the description. ANTIQUE H. WENDT TAILOR'S SHEARS(RARE! Here is a nice. Very rare old pair of large, heavy duty tailor's shears. They measure 12" x 4" overall and weigh approx. 1 1/2 lbs. The handle is 4" x 4" and the cutting blade is 6" These are made to fit the right hand. Made of steel with a brass bolt and bushing. Just below the fulcrum is the makers mark. It reads: H. WENDT PATENTEE NEW YORK 5" See pictures) The middle word is worn and difficult to read- it definitely ends with two E's and appears to be"patentee" From our research. These shears probably date from the late 19th century. The shears are in good working condition. They have dings and scratches and signs of wear and use. But no rust, cracks, or breaks. They may need some sharpening, but they do cut paper fine. The shears have a nice smooth ... morefeel and great aged patina. Accept PayPal only. Ship to the US only. Large COMPTON Vintage 13" Tailor Scissors Shears Dress Making Leather
This is a very old pair of scissors in what I think is great condition for its age. It is stamped Compton U Set. Scissor blade is very sharp but there is a chip on one part of the cutting blade-see pictures for condition. What is neat about these is the handle fits in the palm for greater leverage. All in all a fine example of early manufacturing where quality was not compromised. Questions welcome. I ship USA only.

Offering a pair of antique. 9.75" steel, sail maker's shears. They are marked with a maker's name that I cannot make out. It looks like the name begins with Wm. The last word appears to be Sheffield. Antique 19TH Century TAILOR SCISSORS /SHEARS 14" Possibly R. Heinisch Inventor
Up for auction is a pair of antique tailor shears/garment scissors. I can find no makers markings on these. But they have THE LOOK of R. Heinisch scissors. I did look at the bolt through a 10x jewelers loop. But still could find no markings. I did not clean the bolt area for fear of ruining the antiquity of this scissor. I was told these were from a Levi's plant here in New Mexico. But I have no proof of such. It is in good used condition. Nice patina, still shows some of the original paint on the handles. The Regular Office Type Scissors in the Pictures are not included with auction. They are Just for Scale. Only the Awesome Antique Pair. The Item is 13in long overall.Cutting Depth is 5 3/4 in. These Scissors or Shears were made or imported sometime between 1824 and 1837 by C. Klauberg. C. Klauberg was an importer of Cutlery in New York City from the Early 1800's to Early 1900's. The address in the Makers Mark is 173 Williams St. New York. NY. He moved his business to in 1824 and in 1837 the business was renamed C.Klauberg& Bros. Placing this item sometime between those two dates. This Set of Scissors or Shears would be used for cutting multiple layers of material. However, I think its cutting days are behind it. This auction includes a pair of antique Taylor scissors by WM Schollhorn Co. The blades measure more around 7 inches although this pair is stamped 8. Shears measure 13 3/4 inches from tip of blades to tip of handle. I tested them and they appear to be quite sharp although I am not an expert. LARGE ANTIQUE TAILOR'S SCISSORS TEXTILE SHEARS VINTAGE FABRIC UNMARKED 14 1/4"
This pair of textile. Tailor's scissors measure 14 1/4" overall with 7" sharp blades. I believe that is what the incised 7 is there for. I do not know what the 4 and 8 mean that are incised under the pivot nuts. Otherwise than that. I find no markings at all. The tightening system looks the same to me as the Wiss brand that had pat. applied for and their name on the nuts. Maybe this is a Wiss that was a prototype. Or maybe just another brand that was unmarked. These are in wonderful shape, with 2/3 of the enamel paint still on the handles. They operate smoothly and the adjuster nut and screw work just as they should. They weigh 2 lbs. So you can see why they would have the table"travel foot" on the handle so as not to wear your hand and arm out when using them all day! antique Tailor scissors by R(Rochus) Heinisch. Their blades measure 6.25" and they have a 5 stamped on the base of one blade. The scissors measure 13.25" from tip of blades to tip of handle. R. Heinisch 13.5" Scissors Shears Antique Vintage Textile Tailor Leather Tool
Antique Tailor Scissors by R(Rochus) Heinisch. Circa 1900. Blades measure 6.5" and they have a"7" stamped on the base of one blade. The scissors measure 13.5" from tip of blades to tip of handle. No knick/ chips in blades but they could use sharpening. Please take a close look at the photos as they are part of the description. The pair weighs about 2 lbs. They cut thru paper to the tip. But. I can tell they need a sharpening if you are going to be using them for more serious work. Pitting in places. These were painted black some time in their past. No breaks or repairs. Antique tailor's shears / scissors 12 3/4" long w/ lg brass bolt - unbranded
Up for your consideration is an antique tailor's( or dressmaker's) shears. These heavy shears measure 12 3/4" long and neither the shears nor the large brass pivot bolt have any mark that I can find to indicate their maker. They were well used and this use gives them the"patina" you see in the photos. dings and scratches in the brass. chipped paint on the handles. green paint smeared on the blades(and a bit on the brass) some sort of putty(would chip off with a bit of picking at it) splotched near the pivot. as well as a light coating of allover rust with some pitting. The blades have a slight amount of"play" and would benefit from a tightening or adjustment(I don't know how) they still cut paper fine. and heavy cloth OK if it is near the pivot point. but they would need sharpening and adjusting(and cleaning) ... moreif an attempt were made to use them to cut through fine cloth. Antique Vintage Large H. WENDT TAILOR DRESSMAKER SHEARS Scissors New York 1850
ANTIQUE H. WENDT 12" TAILOR SHEARS. Obtained from an Estate Sale where it was part of a private collection. Here is an extremely rare very early pair of tailor shears made by the H. Wendt Co. in New York City. I cannot find any other examples of shears or scissors made by this company anywhere on the internet and had great difficulty finding any info on H. Wendt. The only reference I could find was in the book"American Scissors and Shears" by P. R. Pankiewicz on pages 173-175. Apparently Herman Wendt made shears under his own name in the early 1850's, before partnering with Seymour and using both names. His shears were award winning throughout the decade of the 1850's. He received a patent in 1842 for what would become his famous"Patented Shears" This pair is in very good shape for it's age. There is wear ... moreand dings and scratches that add to it's rich patina. But overall it is in nice, working condition. There is no rust, no breaks, and no cracks. The tip of the lower shear is squared off and I cannot tell if this is original- the flattened area is smooth and square with eased or worn edges and does not appear to be a break or a cut. The brass pivot is tight with very little play. The shears operate smoothly and feel very comfortable in the hand with the large thumb rest. These shears measure 12 1/2" by 4" overall. Stamped below the brass pivot is the manufacturer's mark. Which reads: H. WENDT PATENTEE NEW YORK" Below that is the number 5. This is a great pair of tailor shears- it is clean and ready to add to your collection. Own a real piece of American history. We are starting it at $49 with no reserve. Accept PayPal only. large & early 19th c. wrought iron tailor's scissors shears signed CAMBIA forged
Here is a great pair of early hand-wrought iron tailor's scissors or shears from the 19th century. They are signed"CAMBIA" or"GAMBIA" or something similar. Cross-hatching is present near hinge. Presumably for decoration or to line up the parts in the forge before assembly. Measuring 10" long, all five fingers fit into the handles to be able to cut large broadcloths. These do cut(I tried them on paper) but they could use a sharpening, which I'll leave up to the final bidder. These shears have a nice old patina. Very well-crafted. Probably American or British, these are the real thing! SHIPPING INSURANCE IS REQUIRED if this piece sells for $50 or more and will be paid by the successful bidder. LARGE old antique scissors made by WISS company in NEWARK. NJ, probably in the first half of the 20th century. These heavy shears are made for tailors or upholsterers, to cut through cloth or leather. They measure 12-1/2" long with 6 inch cut. They weigh about 1 lb 12 ounces. But shipping weight will be between 2 and 3 lbs. There is a little rust on these shears and some pitting which does not interfere with cutting action. The edges look straight and probably will benefit from sharpening. Rochus Heinisch and Jacob Weiss were contemporaries and Weiss worked for Heinisch at first. Then branched out on his own. If I remember correctly, Heinisch, from Austria, invented the INLAID steel blades where steel that takes a fine edge but is brittle is welded to another steel that holds up for the shape of the shears. I think Wiss was from switzerland ... moreand they both worked in Newark NJ in the late 19c. There is a number 4 and a number 5 on the inside of the handle of the scissors. I have always been fond of any items leading up to or during the Civil war. One can only imagine the history of these shears. They are marked Newark NJ so perhaps they were used to make uniforms as our nation geared for war. Who knows. Anyway they are neat, They are a whopping 15" long. The center brass piviot is marked" R. Here we have a great pair(1) of large iron scissors or shears of the type often used by tailors but also other trades as well. I actually found these in with some very old boat building and sail making tools right here on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake bay. Measures about 11 1/2 inches from tip to tip. Is made out of forged iron. No name or markings that I could see. I would say condition is Good- Very Good. No damage such as cracks, breaks, pitting or repairs. The pivot rivet is a bit beat but doesn't affect anything. VERY SHARP vintage engraved Art Nouveau tailor scissors shears antique
I didn't find any information on these. The maker's mark is a male dog standing on its hind legs with a cane in its mouth. My guess is that they are German and were made between 1910 and 1930. Their Art Nouveau style is quite particular and includes patterns that look like petals. Leaves and grapes. I cleaned them, gave the blades a good sharpening and polished everything. SHARP Rare collectible engraved tailor scissors shears antique brass
These very nice Townshend& Thompson scissors were made in Birmingham around the 1900s. They feature triangular blades and beautiful Art Nouveau brass handles that represent two Celtic warriors looking at each other. I cleaned them. Tightened the brass around the steel tangs(there is only a tiny amount of play left) gave the blades a good sharpening and polished everything. They would be good for carpet but they may need to be sharpened for that purpose. They cut fabric just fine but they're quite large so they're not something I like to use. According to my research they were made around the 1920s by Alex Rowland of NY. Ask about my other scissors and sewing antiques if you're looking for something specific.
