They have intact points and cut paper but could use sharpening. The blades are stamped"Patent" on one side. The scissors measure 2 3/8" long closed and almost 4" long opened. They were made by Bontgen& Sabin. A well known cutlery company in Germany. In the photos, I've included a c. 1910 ad from the company showing these scissors. Later versions of these scissors are stamped'Germany' so this pair dates to around 1890-1900. The carved mother of pearl handles have a small crack at the rivet on one side but are in otherwise nice condition with no chips or other damage and they are very luminous. Vintage Miniature Ladies Legs Folding Scissors with Chatelaine/Fob Latch
This vintage pair of miniature folding scissors dates from the late 1800’s. The ladies legs handles are faux mother of pearl(celluloid) on metal mounts and open to reveal scissors. There is flaw in the celluloid portion of one of the legs(Photo#7& 8) It looks like a cracked area. But is completely solid. The defect goes through one of the rivet areas and may have occurred during manufacturing. The scissors have“PATENT” imprinted on one side and are functional. There is a slightly bent tip on one of the blades. But the pair cuts paper perfectly. The latch does work and is structured to allow attachment of a chain or cord as was common during the Victorian period. Age and use have resulted in some pitting and scratches of the metal. This auction is for an absolutely fabulous pair of antique sewing scissors. These would be from the late 1800's. When folded they collapse into a neat compact piece measuring 2 1/4 inches long. They open to full working scissors at almost 4 inches long. The handles are sterling. One side is marked sterling; the other has initials which are quite faded at this point. The blade near the screw says PATENT on one side. And Germany on the other. They really don't get better than this. Please feel free to ask any questions.

The handles are plain. And these have simple utilitarian style. When opened, they are 2-5/8" long, and fold to 1-1/2" with blades tucked inside handles. They weigh 9 grams. They are tarnished with signs of age and the hinges to fold are quite tight, it takes some effort to open and close. They have tiny French sterling hallmark and number 1 on both handles and another mark on both sides of hinge between blades. Offered is this antique folding sewing scissors in its original leather pouch. Opens to 4 inches in length but collapses to fit in the pouch that is 2 inches by 1 inch. Condition of the scissors is very good with only small evidence of plating loss or oxidation. Still cut threads well. The pouch. However is very worn as well as very old. Really nice advertising scissors. Appear to be manicure-like, with small file edges on scissor. Blade is marked Germany, some stains and rusty, needs a good cleaning. Unsure what the metal is, no markings. Please look over the photos as they show it well. I think. Measures abit over 4" when open. And just over 2.25" closed. Smooth action, latch holds well.
