Antique Sheffield Hand Forged Steel Scissors, 19th Century, Sheffield, England
If you look closely you can see most of the identification stamp which is a Crown between a V and R. This V-R and Crown refers to many products. Including Sheffield products, that were produced during the reign of Queen Victoria, who ruled from June 1837 until her death in January, 1901. It is also stamped with the maker’s name. J Smith, Sheffield" Research confirms that this pair of scissors was manufactured in the 19 th century. The scissors are hand forged and have a forged rivet at the swivel point(not a screw) Old business records show definitively that J SMITH and SONS. Arundel Street, Sheffield, England, started their business by first making razors in 1828.

3 sets Antique Sewing Pruning Scears~Scissors Early Hand Forged pair!
I probably should have listed the 1800's hand forged scissors in a seperate listing however you get all 3 sets of these early pruning scissor shears. The hand forged scissors measures 3 1/2" width x 8" length and is you check out my closeup pics you will see that they are stamped with a feather like scroll on the inside of one of the blades. you can also see how the iron has been hand gouge to create the arch of the blades. The second shears are the same size but they are slight thicker and a little more"heavy duty" The third set measure 3 1/2" x 7" length and are stamped on the blades with the makerslogo which looks like a Machine Cog Wheel with an arrow running through it. large & early 19th c. wrought iron tailor's scissors shears signed CAMBIA forged
Here is a great pair of early hand-wrought iron tailor's scissors or shears from the 19th century. They are signed"CAMBIA" or"GAMBIA" or something similar. Cross-hatching is present near hinge. Presumably for decoration or to line up the parts in the forge before assembly. Measuring 10" long, all five fingers fit into the handles to be able to cut large broadcloths. These do cut(I tried them on paper) but they could use a sharpening, which I'll leave up to the final bidder. These shears have a nice old patina. Very well-crafted. Probably American or British, these are the real thing! SHIPPING INSURANCE IS REQUIRED if this piece sells for $50 or more and will be paid by the successful bidder.
