My moth er is clearing out a few of her treasures that she has collected over the years. This is a set of 3 beauti ful bodkins that have a gorgeous floral p atter n. They are stam ped ster ling. The largest one measures approx. 2 3/4 inch l ong. And has a slit that is 3/4 inches wide. The medium one is approx. 2 5/8 inch long. And the slit is approx, 3/8 inch wide. The smallest is approx. 2 1/2 inches lon g. And the slit is approx. 3/1 6 inch wide. I do not know the age or history. And am only listing these as Victorian as that is what I am seeing other s that are similar in design listed as. There are some wear spots and discoloration. Antique Sterling Bodkin Threader Monogrammed M E H From my own vintage and antique sewing items is this wonderful sterling Bodkin threader for weaving lace. Ribbon through eyelets and casings. On the front of the bodkin is a monogram with M E H. On the reverse side is stamped with company logo and Sterling mark and I did try to find who the marking was from but had no luck. The maker mark is a type of shield with a fancy S in the center. The bodkin measures 2 ¾” long by 13/16” at the wide end. There is one hole at the top to put a cord or ribbon through and tie around the neck while working on your next project. Should you have questions please email me before bidding. This auction is for an antique sterling silver bodkin or ribbon puller or threader made by the firm R. Blackinton& Co. of North Attleboro. MA, which was formed in 1862. The ribbon threader is used to lace ribbon through a piece of material. This threader is about 4" long and the handle is 7/16" wide at the widest point. And it weighs 9.7 grams. The threader is in excellent condition. And there are no dings or dents. The sterling handle has a smooth feel to it from years of use, and it is still in wonderful condition. French Napoleon Vermeil 18k Gold Ivory Needlework Sewing Set Thimble Bodkin MINT
Gorgeous French Ivory Fitted Needlework Sewing Set Etui This beautiful hand crafted French sewing etui is believed to be from or around the Napoleon III era. The case is ivory and specially made for the different needlework tools that are found in the set. Each slot has been carved to fit each specific tool. It also appears that all of the tools match- the bodkin fits in the slot exactly. Which indicates it, too is probably original. It is not uncommon that a plain bodkin be found with a decorative set. Each tool is in excellent condition with little to no sign of wear. The guarantee mark appears to be that of two boar's heads; therefore. The set is marked for Paris. This guarantee mark was used from 1838-1962 and guarantees a minimum fineness or purity of.800 silver. That means it has the look of being 18k gold, with a“gold wash” finish, ... moreand the sturdiness and durability of silver, sometimes referred to as“continental. The pieces are all believed to be in vermeil, which means the silver has a thick layer of 18k gold. The actual makers mark is difficult to distinguish but the lozenge can be found on more than 1 of the tools nonetheless. Closure and hinges are in perfect working condition. The ivory is in superb condition with no chips or cracks. The outer case shows a beautiful blue ornate design that could perhaps be the initials of the original owner. A sewing etui such as this is hard to come by and is especially rare in such splendid near perfect condition! For sewing and etc. A needle case, with inlay, some missing, and it's approx. 3 3/8" long, a domino approx. 7/8" long, a bodkin, approx. approx. 2 3/4" and 2 other sewing items, approx. 4" and 4 1/2" one with wear to end, and a partial carved piece, approx. 3 3/8" threaded at the end, missing a piece, it has a wax seal on the tip, that is threaded on, and an umbrella handle, approx. 2 5/8" across with carving and having some chipping on the"swiveling ball" part. All show wear and age, but overall, still nice.

Offered for auction is an antique sterling silver sewing bodkin shaped like a fish. The delicate sewing tool is hallmarked on the back side with the Simons shield logo. Sterling, Pat. Jul. 11.05. The bodkin is 2 1/2 inches long and 1/4 inches at the widest part. Usually these bodkins came in a set of three different sizes. I saw another fish bodkin on EBay recently. It appeared to be larger. The detail of the sterling is wonderful. The silver is in good condition with no damage.
