Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Handled Embroidery Sewing Scissors Perfect!
These beautiful little embroidery scissors are 3 ½ inches in length. With 1 ½ inch blades. The handles are stamped“STERLING” in two places and the blades are very sharp with an excellent‘bite’ They are not loose. There is slight oxidation on the blades but no pitting; this should clean up well. The sterling handles are festooned with flowers, and are in their original, as-found condition; I wiped them but did not polish. In as close to perfect condition as 100 year old, as-found scissors can be. These will be padded and in a box, inside a bubble envelope, for shipment unless you request something other. Sterling Handled 5" Sewing Scissors Birmingham England 1905. This 5 1/4" long sewing scissors features lovely sterling handles made in Birmingham. UK, and blades were made in Sheffield. The handles have scrolling leaf patterns at the top of the handle and larger leaves below. The handles are marked with the British lion silver mark, the Birmingham anchor, the date letter"f" which corresponds to 1905-6, and a maker's mark, A& LL. The scissors is in good condition with no cracks or dents in the handles. And the scissors works well. The Sheffield blades are discolored and the handles may have been reattached. The back of the tape is marked Brooker& Jepson, Hastings, a local retailer in Hastings, England in the late 1800's. This little guy measures 1 inch in diameter and is 5/8 of an inch tall, 1 inch including the handle. It would make a wonderful addition to your collection. VERY NICE! Antique Victorian Brass Handled Large Ornate Sewing Or Desk Scissors
This is a large antique Victorian ornate brass handled sewing or desk scissor. It probably dates from the 1880s or 1890s. It measures 10 1/2 inches long(26.67 cm) It measures 2 1/4 inches wide at the handle(5.72 cm) Based on similar items. I'm pretty sure it comes from Germany. It cuts well. But on a slight curve because the two blades have separation in between them(please see photo) As you can see in the photos. There is dark tarnishing and some surface rust on the underside of the blades. There is also wear to the outer part of the blades. The screw is a little loose. There is what appears to be some solder where the brass handle meets the blades. I'm not sure if this was original or was done later to secure the handles. Overall. It's a very nice looking old scissor. It weighs just under 6 ounces(166 g)
