All the scissors are in great used condition.The first pair(pics 2-4) shows a crane or stork form and measures 4 inches tall by 1.5" long from side to side at their handles. This pair shows some fairly light surface discolorations from use and from age.I also see surface discoloration on the inside of the scissors. When the pair is opened.The next pair in the collection(pics 5-9) measures 3.5" tall by almost 1.5" long from side to side. This auction is for a gorgeous pair of small sterling handled embroidery scissors. They measure 3 1/2 inches long. I believe they are from the mid 1800's. You can see the small round mark on the top handle in photo 2.this reads. sterling silver" and other hallmarks that I cannot make out. The blades are marked, Germany" the only flaws I see are that one blade has a tiny bit broken off(photo 9) and when the handles are closed the blades don't match up perfectly.only when the handles cross a tiny bit(photo 8) Gorgeous pair of beautifully made early scissors. This auction is for a very neat pair of antique embroidery scissors in the shape of a bird or stork. The scissors measure almost 4 inches long. They are in excellent condition and still work beautifully. I believe they were gold plated. But some of the gold has rubbed off over time. The stamp inside the scissor(photo 4) says, H H Hill, Solingen, Germany" Sorry it is so hard to see. It is very clear with a magnifying glass. These were made in the early 1900's. An Early 19th cent. Gold Embroidery Scissors Description: These elegant gold scissors features nice embossed gold handles and gold finger rings. The are hallamrked within the finger holes with the maker's mark and on the rim with a left facing RAM's HEAD. this hallmark was used from August 16. 1819 to May 9, 1938. Finding this mark indicates the item has tested with limited warranty by touchstone to be a minimum of 750/18kt gold. Origin of the mark is Paris. France Tapering carbon steels blades. They have tight blades and intact points and cut like new right to the tips. The condition is very good. Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Handled Embroidery Sewing Scissors Perfect!
These beautiful little embroidery scissors are 3 ½ inches in length. With 1 ½ inch blades. The handles are stamped“STERLING” in two places and the blades are very sharp with an excellent‘bite’ They are not loose. There is slight oxidation on the blades but no pitting; this should clean up well. The sterling handles are festooned with flowers, and are in their original, as-found condition; I wiped them but did not polish. In as close to perfect condition as 100 year old, as-found scissors can be. These will be padded and in a box, inside a bubble envelope, for shipment unless you request something other. These silver embroidery scissors were produced in Holland circa 1850. The handles are heavy.800 silver. Cut and hammered to produce an elegant floral design. The blades are steel. The scissors measure approximately 6 inches long. The scissors are hallmarked on the side of each handle(see photos) There is a tax mark for locally made silverware at the bottom front of each handle(see photos) NOTE: This mark is the middle mark at the bottom of p. 321 of International Hallmarks on Silver, Hardy-see photo) There are numbers scratched into the sides of both handles(see photos) The tip of the pointed blade is broken off close to the top(see photo) and does not match the length of the other blade. Whimsical antique embroidery scissors with a decoration that looks like owl eyes. It appears that there may have been a gold wash on areas of the owl. This delightful treasure is 3 3/4" long. Marked on one side: Hibbard. Spencer and Bartlett Co. Germany; on the other side is the logo OVB with a rectangle over the letters. Inside the rectangle is OUR VERY BEST.
