Large 6” Maker: Unknown Hallmarks: The handle is stamped STERLING on both sides. Pattern: Bold and large repousse floral and flourish pattern with an empty cartouche on both sides. Size: A large 6-1/8” long with a 3-5/8” long handle and 2-1.2” long egg. It is 1-3/4” wide at the egg end and 1” at the widest part of the handle. Total weight is 80 grams or 2.8 ounces/2.57 troy ounces. Features: Nice egg shaped ebony wood ball. Very decorative Victorian style handle. May be hallmarks in addition to STERLING– unreadable. Personalization: No personalization. Condition: Handle is tarnished and has some pokes on the cartouche both sides. Also some dark spots(hallmarks? and scratches on the cartouche ... moreareas– both sides. The egg is rubbed in a couple of small spots and has some shallow scratches. Antique Wood Sock Darner With Original Metal Band This is a great antique darner in a mushroom shape with a metal band which can be used to hold a sock in place while darning. It is hardwood construction appears to maple. But cannot guarantee it. Measures 2 1/4 inches in diameter X 4 inches in length. The band is stamped PAT'D DEC 18, 1900. A nice sewing collectible. It has great patina and I love the scars that it shows from someone using it. As is the nature of vintage treasures this piece is neither perfect nor pristine. But shows subtle marks of time gone by which in no way compromises the soundness of the piece, but only adds to the beauty and the character. Great addition to any ones collection.
