The implements are all original to this elegant Napoleon III era etui or case, casket, and they are all in 18K gold, as well, except the thimble which is a replacement to the set and which is vermeil, instead. Even the bodkin or lace needle is 18K gold. All implements but the thimble have been ... moretested thoroughly and are guaranteed as 18K solid gold. There are, however, no visible marks. Or at least I have not found any. Typically we see the French eagle's head and can confirm the set is French, as well. But that is not the case here. Antique French Sewing Set Etui Silver Gilt Thimble and Scissors by Dreicer NY
This is a French sewing set retailed by Dreicer& Co. New York City, circa 1910. It comprises a silver gilt thimble by P. Genty, decorated with a central cartouche flanked by swags. It is approx. 1 x 1/2 inches. There is also a small scissor with embossed brass handles. The handles are loose from the arms. They are in a fitted velvet and silk lined leather case with gilt tooling. It was retailed by Dreicer& Co. 560 5th Ave. New York. Dreicer was one of the top jewelers in early 20th century New York. I believe it is from the early 1900s as it were owned by a girl who died in 1915 and was kept. Along with some of her other possessions by her mother(the grandmother of my client) Please see my other items for other miniatures from this family.

Georgian Tortoise Shell Sewing Needlework Set Etui Sterling Silver Tools ENGLAND
Antique“Faux” Tortoise Shell Needlework Box Up for bid is an early 19 th century fitted needlework box from England. The outer case is truly a magnificent display of chocolate& blonde colored natural faux tortoise shell. The outer top lid is outlined in silver which is typical of the larger boxes and in particular the ones of English origin. The inner lip trim which is assumed to be that of“faux” ivory is intact on the box base& lid. The sterling silver tools seem to be intact and appear to be original to the box. The thimble. However, is a replacement and the bodkin is assumed to be a replacement. The thimble is marked in the inside top with an S in a shield which is for Simors Bros. of Philadelphia. USA. A deep purple velvet lining surrounds the tools and is also found on the upper box lid. These Georgian to early Victorian ornate ... moresewing implements include a fabulous basket shaped pin cushion, a wonderful little tape measure, sewing scissors& sheath, thimble, waxer, pencil, bodkin and stiletto. What a lovely treasure; such a beautiful piece to add to anyone’s collection! Condition Details: The silver implements appear to be in overall excellent working condition with very little sign of wear. If any at all. The outer tortoise shell at first glance appears in great condition as well. However, upon close inspection there are some minor flaws as expected simply due to items age.on the back of the box are a few hairline or thin cracks near& around the hinges. On the side of the box at the front left corner, there is a very small spot where the coating or clear like"finish" is missing. There are small chips of tortoise shell gone on the right side of the box on each bottom corner. On this same side, on the top corner toward the back there is a small place where the tortoise shell is chipped. For your consideration is this beautiful antique English made sewing set. Circa 1900. The case is covered in dark green gilded leather with a green velvet and satin interior. This cased sewing kit includes many tools that would aid in different areas of needlework. This set includes a pair of reproduction gilded bird scissors, a tiny button hook, an ox bone handled stiletto, an ox bone handled button hook, an ox bone handled lace crochet hook, a gilded bodkin, 2 Redditich needle packets. The case is marked"Melliship& Harris. Westbourne Grove" Condition: Very Good! Case is scuffed. But only the tiniest bit along the edges. Interior fabric is vibrant, though has degraded a bit around the hinges. The box is hinged with two trips of leather, one on the inside and one of the outside and the outside one is split halfway. Tools are ... morein useable condition. There is some rust on the button hooks. A stitch has come undone on the velvet strip that holds the two top tools in place. WELCOME! I am offering a Fabulous Rare Victorian Wood Sewing Box& Tools Solid wood oval Sewing Box with inlaid M.O.P. decoration on the top. Double brass hinged back& push button closure work well& secure. Other than a dark spot near the hinges. The outside is in Good Condition. Circa 1880's Inside lid is lined in a ivory color padded silk. There are dark marks& some small tears on the left edge. Inside bottom is solid wood with carved custom fitted spaces for the various tools. Very unique& detailed! It measures approx. 6 1/4" x 3" x 7/8" The box is in overall Good Condition with noted issues. Commensurate with age. Please view all photos as they are part of the overall description. Antique/Victorian Silver Thimble. Twelve panels around the bottom. Six are plain& Six have engraved scrolls designs. No dents or holes and in the round. There are no size or maker marks. May be silver plated. Good Condition. Antique Beautifully Carved Fan& Scroll Design Mother of Pearl handle Button Awl/Punch. Approx. 4 1/4" Very Good Condition. Matching M.O.P. Handle Sewing Knife. Sadly the blade is broken& one side is missing a piece of M.O.P. at the smaller end. Closed it measures approx. 2 7/8" The blade base is marked: RODGERS CUTLERS TO HER MAJESTY. Antique Etui Sewing Embroidery Scissors Thistle Thimble Silver Box Set Vintage
Beautiful quality crafted sewing tools.in original push button box. Not one item in this set is marked. Country of origin- maker- metal content- Unknown to me. The thimble and scissor handle tops look sterling silver to me. The thimble is a larger sized. Size not marked) It stands 1" tall with a bottom width of 11/16" The rim has a decorative thistle flower pattern. The scissors measure almost 4" long. They have a decorative handle. The scissors are also not marked. The blunt end needle measures about 3" long. The paper covered box measures 5 1/4" by 2 1/2" by 1" thick. The box lid is satin lined. The bottom is velvet lined. The box does show light storage wear from age. The sewing utensils are in very nice condition. Very pretty. Postage is free within the USA. I only ship within the USA. So many of these sets are well used, as is this one. I'm unsure of the inclusion of this thimble as it is either lost of its gold layer, exposing just the silver beneath, or it is from another set and parted into this one. For your consideration is this antique sewing set in a velvet covered box circa 1900. The case is covered in dark red velvet with a velvet and satin lined interior. This sewing kit includes a pair of scissors with beautiful handles. 2 packets of Kibbys needles, a bodkin, a mother of pearl handled stiletto, a pair of mother of pearl handle tweezers, a mother of pearl handled file, and 1 carved solid ox bone crochet hook. Condition: Very Fine! Case shows very minimal wear for its age. Interior fabric and tools are in very good condition. There is some rust on the scissors and the file. Measurements: 8 by 4 inches. 1 inch tall.

For your consideration is this English made antique sewing set. Circa 1900. The needlework tools are housed in a burgundy velvet covered and velvet lined wooden case with satin details. This sewing kit includes 4 knitting pins, 2 packets of H. Milward and Sons needles, a thimble, a stitch marker, 2 sizes of matching scissors, a bodkin, and a steel crochet hook. It also includes the following ox bone handles tools; a lace crochet hook, a knife, a pick with a bent tip, and a turned stiletto. Condition: Good. Velvet is in exceptionally good condition for its age. The tip of the bone handled pick is bent. There are a few small spots of rust on the scissors and thimble. The knitting pins are vintage. But not original to the set. Please examine photos. Measurements: 7.75 inches by 7 inches and 1.5 inch tall.
