I know what it says from looking at others like it. The condition is very good for a piece of this age. It was used to put into shoes to hold their shape. This darning implement harkens back to the days when sock mending was an essential part of homemaking. It came from an estate. And measures approx. 5& 1/4" long. It has a nice patina to it, and the business end of it is pitted with scratches and needle marks from many years of use. I've cleaned it with Murphy's oil soap. FOOT FORM- Wood Child's Sock Darner- PAT. NOV 1907 A vintage Child's Sock Darner crafted in solid wood with a Patend Date in November 1907 by Foot Form. The Darner measures 5 1/2" long and 2 3/8" wide at the widest point. 1 1/4" wide at the Toe and 1" wide at the Handle. Photos 1- 3) It bears the"Foot Form" mark and"Pat. NOV 1907" on the top of the Foot as shown in Photo 4. This Wood Sock Darner is not new and may well be 100+ years old. It is crafted in a design from in 1907 but determining an actual age is near impossible. It appears to have been used infrequently and provided with excellent care judging by the lack of any major damage such as nicks. Chips, etc in the wood.
