It has a gold stamped fountain motif on the front& back with birds drinking from it. It is embossed. Scrolled and gold-stamped on all sides and is hand painted red, green, blue and white. The spine is stamped'LADY'S COMPANION' in gold letters and is enhanced with birds above and below the lettering. The top lifts off& fits nicely on the bottom hal f. Inside lid is lined in a pink paper with gold stamped stars design. The bottom section is a burgundy leather with fitted burgundy velvet lined compartments for the various tools. Description Stunning antique sewing stiletto. Which has been hand carved from a single wonderfully luminous section of mother of pearl with arrow shaped handle. The stiletto would date to the early part of the 19th century. Circa 1830. and would have originally been part of a completely fitted work/sewing box. The stiletto would have undoubtedly been part of a Palais Royal set, and the image of the leaves/flowers were a popular theme used. An example of this type of stiletto can be seen in Bridget McConnel's book The Story of Antique Needlework Tools. On page 100. AGE The stiletto would date from the early 19th century. Circa 1830. Antique French Mother of Pearl Sewing Scissors w/ Dolphin Handle
Up for auction is a pair of antique French mother of pearl sewing scissors. They feature carved dolphins on the handles with long pointed blades. The steel blades are marked J.D. Chevalier and measure 6 inches long. Each handle is carved from single pieces of mother of pearl. The handles measure just over 3 inches tall by 2.5 inches wide. These lovely scissors have a condition issue on one of the handles. They were obviously dropped some time ago and the handle has a large chip on the underside where they broke away from the blade. The handle loop shows a glue joint where the ring portion was broken. Still secure but the blades would need to be glued. These scissors still retain an excellent cutting edge. Pair of Antique Sewing Punches & Antique Mother Of Pearl Thread Winder
Up for auction is a pair of two nicely carved sewing punches and a mother of pearl thread winder. These sewing items probably date from the late 1800's. The 3-3/8" long punch has an eyelet top. The shorter punch measures 2-7/8" in length. Both are in nice condition. The beautifully carved. MOP thread winder is 7/8" wide and 1-3/8" long. It also is in nice condition. These items would make great additions to a collection, or special gifts to a friend. I ship ONLY within the United States.

For your consideration is this antique sewing set in a warm chocolate brown Moroccan leather covered case. Circa 1900. The case is lined with chocolate brown velvet and deep gold satin. This is a VERY RARE color combination. This kit was made by B& A Butterfield, from Bradford, England and is marked as such on the bottom of the case. includes the following needlework tools; a carved mother of pearl game counter(which were very popular during the time when used as a thread winder) a mother of pearl handled stiletto, a mother of pearl handled buttonhook, a mother of pearl handled lace crochet hook, a bodkin, a set of scissos, 2 packets of Flora MacDonald Needles, and a matching gold satin needle book.
