Mauchline Ware Tatting Shuttle Transfer Robert Burns Monument Sewing Collectible
This is a vintage and rare sewing collectible which I honestly do not know how to date. This lady was into lace. Bobbin lace as well as tatting and she was very talented. I found this tatting shuttle among her things and I think it pretty uncommon. It is mauchline ware with a transfer of Robert Burns monument and on the other side is a verse" MADE OF WOOD GROWN ON THE BANKS OF THE DOON" The shuttle has become unglued on one side from the block of wood in the center. Also there is a small chip to the side of the wood on the bottom piece. That chip is not noticed from the front of the shuttle but it is there. I would not try to use the shuttle because I think it too valuable and also because as you see from the 4th picture, the wooden points on the ends do not quite meet. I have taken into consideration these flaws when considering ... moremy opening bid as I do think this is a rare sewing collectible. Thanks for your interest and good luck. This is a 5 day auction as I will be unable to ship after Tuesday.

Antique Victorian Sewing Spool Thread Holder/ Dispenser- Wood Treen Ware- with Seed Bead Decoration- This auction is for an antique sewing spool thread holder/ dispenser. The wide base and top are wood in a warm honey cool(probably mahogany) The wide base has an embellishment of seed beads in a floral pattern around it. There is a metal rod with a hollow center in the middle of the base. The top has a rod which fits into the base rod. When the top is removed. A spool of thread can sit on the rod. When the top is replaced, it keeps the spool in place and allows the thread to be dispensed. The height of the spool holder is 4 inches and it is 2-1/4 inches across the bottom of the base. Vintage Tartan MAUCHLINE WARE Scottish Tape measure Holder "Stuart" Sewing Desk
This is a vintage tartan Scottish MAUCHLINE WARE Tape Measure Holder marked"Stuart" in gold lettering on the top. It is missing the tape measure. The tartan transfer is in good condition with some minor wear. There is a small chip on top of the black winder knob not real noticeable I tried to take a picture. The knob does turn without a problem. The tape measure holder measures approximately 2 1/8" tall x 1" wide. Research shows that Mauchline ware was in production in Scotland from the 1820's until 1933 by the firm of W&A smith. It was a wood base with a transfer pattern. The tartan pattern was popular. I have other mauchline ware listed.
