The are hallamrked within the finger holes with the maker's mark and on the rim with a left facing RAM's HEAD. this hallmark was used from August 16. 1819 to May 9, 1938. Finding this mark indicates the item has tested with limited warranty by touchstone to be a minimum of 750/18kt gold. Origin of the mark is Paris. France Tapering carbon steels blades. They have tight blades and intact points and cut like new right to the tips. The condition is very good. Outstanding Personal Family-Owned Antique Pair Foot-Long Tailors Scissors Shears
Here is a very nice old pair of tailor's shears or cutting scissors. In quite fine condition overall, measuring a foot long, closed, and when the blades are open, they too measure just shy of 12" across. These beauties had a history in my family, my 91-year old mother telling me they were old when she was young, and they remain solid, with good cutting power. I have done nothing to spruce them up, and as you can hopefully see, they have character, even if they lack a little black on the handles. The pair weighs 14.1 ounces, and the name"R. Sevic- Chicago" is stamped on one outer blade, the number"25" on both interior blades. This is one of two seldom-seen tailor's tools I have at auction. Sharp! $19.99

I probably should have listed the 1800's hand forged scissors in a seperate listing however you get all 3 sets of these early pruning scissor shears. The hand forged scissors measures 3 1/2" width x 8" length and is you check out my closeup pics you will see that they are stamped with a feather like scroll on the inside of one of the blades. you can also see how the iron has been hand gouge to create the arch of the blades. Beautiful. Fantastic set of Victorian scissors and case or holder. The scissors handle and holder are in brass or bronze and have a very ornate Victorian Era decoration. Probably date to about 1880. Scissor blades are sharp, made from carbon steel and marked"GERMANY" Length of scissors in case is 8 1/2" Scissors alone are 7" Everything is in excellent condition with no damage, rust, etc. The blade holder is slightly loose fit on blades. Brass/bronze surfaces have great antique patina.

These are generally accepted to stand for Faith, Hope, and Charity. I am not sure who or why they incorporated these in a pair of scissors.
