Antique Sterling Silver Sewing Bodkin / Ribbon Threader Puller
This auction is for an antique sterling silver bodkin or ribbon puller or threader made by the firm R. Blackinton& Co. of North Attleboro. MA, which was formed in 1862. The ribbon threader is used to lace ribbon through a piece of material. This threader is about 4" long and the handle is 7/16" wide at the widest point. And it weighs 9.7 grams. The threader is in excellent condition. And there are no dings or dents. The sterling handle has a smooth feel to it from years of use, and it is still in wonderful condition. Vintage Sterling Bodkin Ribbon Threader Set CB& H Co. These vintage bodkins or ribbon threaders are marked Sterling CB&H on the back. The three bodkins are made in graduated sizes and have a monogram in script that appears to be TCCM on the front. The CB&H mark stands for Codding Bros. Heilbron in business until 1918 in Attleboro. MA. The bodkins have a very dark finish and have not been polished. The range in size from 3/4" x 2 3/4" 3/8" x 2 5/8" and 1/4" x 2 1/2" The original case is very fragile. It has a green and pink floral cover. The case is barely held together at the fold, and the ribbons are incomplete. The case is 3 1/2"x 2 7/8" 5142 I will combine mailing costs on multiple sales.

Info about company/maker mark: The La Pierre Manufacturing Company was founded in 1885 in New York City at 18 East 14th St. In 1893. The company was relocated to Newark, NJ and then incorporated in 1895. They were primarily manufacturers of sterling silver dresser sets, hollowware and novelties. The company was purchase by the International Silver Co. in 1929 and moved to Wallingford CT.

You are bidding on two ribbon threaders. One has two holes and one has only one. The one holed one has a bit of a indented circle design on the top. These are from the early 1800's.They have a bit of darkened areas possibly rust. The one is slightly longer at 2 5/8" Found in a box of sewing items. Lucky bidder pays shipping. CA add 9% tax.
