Art Nouveau Ornate Brass & Steel Scissors With Case Aug.Knecht Solingen
We are delighted to offer these ornate art nouveau scissors. These are marked as follows: Aug. Knecht Solingen with a symbol in the center. These are a fine German steel pair of scissors made circa 1890-1892. The scissors measure 9 13/16"n length. When in the case the total length is 11" The handles have ornate serpents on the tops and sides. The sheath is ornate cast brass with ancient gladiator type figures on each side and the face of a cherub below them. There is an ornate design of scrolls and what looks like some type of shield below the face. The end of the sheath has a pointed crown top. There is some nice age related surface wear and a nice patina to the metal on the scissors. The previous owner cleaned the sheath so it is shinier than the scissors. The scissors themselves have some light surface rust on them. The handles ... moreare attached firmly and the screw holding the scissors together is tight. These are also very sharp. This auction is for a very neat pair of antique embroidery scissors in the shape of a bird or stork. The scissors measure almost 4 inches long. They are in excellent condition and still work beautifully. I believe they were gold plated. But some of the gold has rubbed off over time. The stamp inside the scissor(photo 4) says, H H Hill, Solingen, Germany" Sorry it is so hard to see. It is very clear with a magnifying glass. These were made in the early 1900's. WATCH OUT: THESE are sharp. Both on edges and points. AS i just found out. they may look old and rusty BUT somebody really sharpened'em sometime AND it wasn't me or I would have known better. i'll be careful in shipping of course) Anyway these are the legendary Wilhelm scissors with his wife.on the handles on both sides and both handles. Very charming indeed. RARE steel scissors marked-SOLINGEN. At time of German Emperor and his bride, the Holstein princess in 1881. They are signed and decorated on both sides with their images. Very good condition(original old patina with marks of age) without broken or missing parts or repairs. 7 inches long and need a good cleaning but I don't like to clean metals on antiques sometimes.i'll let the expert buyer do it.

Pfeilring Solingen Deco 9" German Scissors Heintz Smith Metal Art Buffalo 1920s
Here is a wonderful 9" Made in Germany" scissors in a brass case. One side is marked"Pfeilring Solingen" with the arrow& circle logo. The case is made by Smith Art Metal of Buffalo. Which was the offshoot of Heintz American Arts and Crafts movement. Otto Heintz died suddenly on January 10. 1918. Sales manager Fred Smith and some major craftsmen defected and began to compete with their old employer under the name Smith Metal Arts Co. incorporated April 24, 1919. The Heintz Art Metal Shop continued for another 12 years until finally succumbing to the Great Depression on February 11, 1930" The scissors are still sharp with no corrosion or pitting. They do need to be cleaned and polished. The tip of the blades make slight rub contact. The 7.25" case is brass and unmarked. The leather sleeve inside has a small ... moreworn spot. Two cork discs.
