The top has an inlaid brass d ra gonfly and an inlaid brass blank monogram space decorated with painted brass flowers. Some of the flo wers still show the original blue& orange paint. The top edges. Ba ck hinge and closure are all a silver metal. There is some wear to the leather color& some scratch es. T here is small spot where the leather has worn a bit in the accor dion section. Though Not worn through t he inside. Inside is fully lined in a champagne color silk. There are several se ctions in the top to hold the various tools. Antique bone, hand inked Indian Totem design-thimble/needle/thread sewing kit
This is a very old carved bone sewing case from my family's curio collection. It stands 3" high and tapers toward the base. The very colorful totem is hand inked in the scrimshaw tradition. The totem is decorated in Indian themes with even a papoose toward the bottom. The totem rests in the grass which trails around the back. The top is a screw on thimble. Inside is a bone needle case with a screw-on top and three outer places to spool thread. It really is beautiful and artistically illustrated. Thanks.

This sewing kit includes a pair of French Ivory(celluloid) thimble. And the following hand carved bovine bone handled tools; a folding button hook, a fixed button hook, 2 awls, a stiletto, 2 nail files, and 2 picks. Condition: Very Fine!
