This item up for auction is an original and vintage pair of german made button hole scissors that are marked on one side with Irwin C Cutlery C Prussia and on the other side with Patent 3013C5 July 1 1884. These scissors measure approximately 4 3/8" in length and 1 3/4" in width and have a rectangular cut/slot in the blades and a brass knob and brass numbered gauge that was used for sizing the hole. It was apparently plated overall. But most of the finish has worn off with only partial finish remaining on the blades. See scans. This pair of unique and scarce german made button hole scissors is in used and worn condition with no damage or abuse to the metal except for some burring to the fastening screw and some light pitting to the surface.
