Antique Steel Embroidery Scissors with Decorative Brass Sheath. 4 5/8 inches long, unmarked, probably European, probably late 1800’s, the scissors are undecorated and the steel has discoloration from oxidation, one tip is slightly bent, the brass sheath is 2 ¼ inches long and has an embossed design, there is discoloration from oxidation but no cracks in the seams, beautiful design is on both sides, the sheath was a necessary item to keep one from poking oneself with sharp embroidery scissors, they often became lost, this is a very nice example of an early sewing tool even though it is on a very ordinary pair of scissors. Art Nouveau Ornate Brass & Steel Scissors With Case Aug.Knecht Solingen
We are delighted to offer these ornate art nouveau scissors. These are marked as follows: Aug. Knecht Solingen with a symbol in the center. These are a fine German steel pair of scissors made circa 1890-1892. The scissors measure 9 13/16"n length. When in the case the total length is 11" The handles have ornate serpents on the tops and sides. The sheath is ornate cast brass with ancient gladiator type figures on each side and the face of a cherub below them. There is an ornate design of scrolls and what looks like some type of shield below the face. The end of the sheath has a pointed crown top. There is some nice age related surface wear and a nice patina to the metal on the scissors. The previous owner cleaned the sheath so it is shinier than the scissors. The scissors themselves have some light surface rust on them. The handles ... moreare attached firmly and the screw holding the scissors together is tight. These are also very sharp. Antique Brass Scissors Style Candle Snuffer and Wick Trimmer
Antique Brass Wick Trimmer Scissors Style Candle Snuffer For Your Antique Candle Snuffer Collection Details Description: Antique scissors type candle snuffer and wick trimmer. This snuffer is made of cast brass. As we inspect the snuffer we recognize that the two ends of the scissors are different. One has more rounded curves and a ball at the end of the foot(silmilar to the fot at the tip of the piece) while the other is lightly curved with a more straight foot. Based on that we reach the conclusion that the scissor handle with the lightly curved profile is not original to the piece and was soldered to the piece at a later date. This is evidenced by the solder marks on the back. The piece has a wick snuffing box on top and a pointed end. The loops of the scissors handles are unmatched which clearly indicates that the handle to the right ... morein not original to the piece. The scissors handles pivot on a central spot and the entire piece rests on three legs. It was purchased from a country estate sale. Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Late 1800s to early 1900s. Origin: Was purchased at an estate sale in Southeast Pennsylvania Size: The snuffer measures 6 3/4" long. 2 3/8" at its widest point(at the end of the scissors' handles) stands 3/4" off the ground and is 1 5/8" at its highest point. Maker: Unknown. Marks: Unmarked. Distinguishing Characteristics- Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice classic antique. Condition: The piece is in fair condition given its age and utilitarian function. It was obviously damaged and repaired at a later date by soldering a different scissor handle to make it work. This period repair was probably done by the original owner and the piece still works and as such this is a very unusual piece. It has few Scratches and Nicks and the catch box has residue in it. P.E. Guerin is the oldest decorative hardware firm in the United States. And the only metal foundry in New York City. The company was started in 1857 by French immigrant Pierre Emmanuel Guerin and has been at its current location on Jane Street in Greenwich Village since 1892. Pierre Emmanuel Guerin was one of the pioneers in artistic metalwork in New York City. Antique tailor's shears / scissors 12 3/4" long w/ lg brass bolt - unbranded
Up for your consideration is an antique tailor's( or dressmaker's) shears. These heavy shears measure 12 3/4" long and neither the shears nor the large brass pivot bolt have any mark that I can find to indicate their maker. They were well used and this use gives them the"patina" you see in the photos. dings and scratches in the brass. chipped paint on the handles. green paint smeared on the blades(and a bit on the brass) some sort of putty(would chip off with a bit of picking at it) splotched near the pivot. as well as a light coating of allover rust with some pitting. The blades have a slight amount of"play" and would benefit from a tightening or adjustment(I don't know how) they still cut paper fine. and heavy cloth OK if it is near the pivot point. but they would need sharpening and adjusting(and cleaning) ... moreif an attempt were made to use them to cut through fine cloth. These are an incredibly interesting pair of scissors.They definitely have some kind of energy about them.Coming equipt with its' own Suit of Armor.A massive sheath for such a little pair of scissors.Wow.They are however. Beautiful. Fantastic set of Victorian scissors and case or holder. The scissors handle and holder are in brass or bronze and have a very ornate Victorian Era decoration. Probably date to about 1880. Scissor blades are sharp, made from carbon steel and marked"GERMANY" Length of scissors in case is 8 1/2" Scissors alone are 7" Everything is in excellent condition with no damage, rust, etc. The blade holder is slightly loose fit on blades. Brass/bronze surfaces have great antique patina.

Vintage R. Heinisch Antique Tailors Scissors Shears Brass Guides? 12 5/8" Length
Antique Rochus Heinisch tailor scissors or shears marked: R. Heinisch- Newark N.J. with the name being curved is a partial circle and the City and State in a straight line below it. There are no words or markings on the brass guides. I believe the brass parts are guides. The scissors measure 12 5/8" in length overall. I don't really know how to measure the cutting edge. But I would say it is approximately 6" in length? As can be expected, these scissors still cut smoothly even though I have never had them sharpened. I bought them used a decade ago. The simplex shear bolt made it easier to clean fabric lint out of the scissors/ shears. The shears measure approximately 13 1/2" in length overall. The blade is approximately 6 1/2" in length. SHARP Rare collectible engraved tailor scissors shears antique brass
These very nice Townshend& Thompson scissors were made in Birmingham around the 1900s. They feature triangular blades and beautiful Art Nouveau brass handles that represent two Celtic warriors looking at each other. I cleaned them. Tightened the brass around the steel tangs(there is only a tiny amount of play left) gave the blades a good sharpening and polished everything. They cut so well they can be used to cut hair, fabric, paper and even food! P.S. I'll always do my best to allow you to save on shipping. Antique Victorian Brass Handled Large Ornate Sewing Or Desk Scissors
This is a large antique Victorian ornate brass handled sewing or desk scissor. It probably dates from the 1880s or 1890s. It measures 10 1/2 inches long(26.67 cm) It measures 2 1/4 inches wide at the handle(5.72 cm) Based on similar items. I'm pretty sure it comes from Germany. It cuts well. But on a slight curve because the two blades have separation in between them(please see photo) As you can see in the photos. There is dark tarnishing and some surface rust on the underside of the blades. There is also wear to the outer part of the blades. The screw is a little loose. There is what appears to be some solder where the brass handle meets the blades. I'm not sure if this was original or was done later to secure the handles. Overall. It's a very nice looking old scissor. It weighs just under 6 ounces(166 g)

Up for bid is a pair of ornate sewing scissors. They are solid brass. With the exception of the steel blades( which are still sharp and cut well) I have not polished the brass but as you can see from the photos the detail is ornate and stunning. There are figureheads on the bows, and the sheath displays a man with amour on one side while the other side displays a decal for engraving ones name or initials. The bottom of the sheath features a female face on both front and back. The sheath lining is intact. The scissors measure 5 1/2 inches long and the sheath is almost 7 inches.
