The faces are very sweet. The colors are excellent with no fading or chips. The darner that has the dark hair has a split in the grain I'm sure due to age. THREE VINTAGE GLOVE FINGER THUMB SOCK EGG DARNERS PAINTED TURNED WOOD
For your consideration today is a lot of 3 different darning tools or implements. All three are made of wood. First is a darning egg used for socks or similar items- this one is turned and painted. As you can see from the pics. The paint is very worn and what must have originally been a blue-green color is now mostly faded to a cream color or worn down to the base wood. Still this is an attractive primitive looking item. This darner is about 6-1/4 inches long and the egg is roughly 1-3/4 inches in diameter. The other two tools appear to be for darning of glove fingers or thumbs- one is longer and a bit thicker than the other. The larger darning finger is 6 inches long and about 3/4 inch in diameter. The smaller of the two is 5 inches long and 5/8 inch in diameter. ANTIQUE SEWING NEEDLEWORK TOOLS- 2 DARNERS FOR SOCKS& GLOVE FINGERS, ANTIQUE SEWING NEEDLEWORK TOOLS- 2 DARNERS FOR SOCKS& GLOVE FINGERS This Antique& Vintage Sock Darners were made between the 1930s-1950s. The Blue& White Darn-Aid was made by Hungerford- the white side is for dark material. The blue side for light colors, the pointed tip is for Glove Fingers, its 5 3/4 inches long and 2 inches wide across the ball end. The Painted Wood one has no marks, its 5 inches long and 2 1/4 inches wide across the ball with the flat edge on the underside. The wood one has the red paint on the top side worn off but otherwise both are in pretty good shape for their age, no chips, cracks, or stains.
