Inside are 2 spools of thread and in the middle is a needle case. The sides are embossed with floral designs and the chain goes through loops on both sides of the top so it can't be lost. The condition is excellent with very little wear and no dents. Repairs or other damage. It measures 2" long(not counting the chain) and is 5" long from the top of the chain to the bottom of the case. It has a gold stamped fountain motif on the front& back with birds drinking from it. It is embossed. Scrolled and gold-stamped on all sides and is hand painted red, green, blue and white. The spine is stamped'LADY'S COMPANION' in gold letters and is enhanced with birds above and below the lettering. The top lifts off& fits nicely on the bottom hal f. Inside lid is lined in a pink paper with gold stamped stars design. The bottom section is a burgundy leather with fitted burgundy velvet lined compartments for the various tools. ANTIQUE FRENCH BREVETE S.G.D.G CARVED BONE 7PC. SILVER PLATE SEWING KIT Beautifully carved bone box which holds a silverplated 7 piece sewing kit. Kit consists of a scissor. Thimble, awl, bobbin, crochet needle, handle, and a case to hold the bobbin and needle. Each pieces fits perfectly in the carved bone case. Overall condition of the tools is very good. Some discoloration on the blade of the scissor. Can possibly be polished out. Overall condition of the case is very good, one spot of discoloration on the top and 2 minor areas on the bottom. One small chip in the back. Hinge works very well, but the mechanism to release the lid is bit tight so it makes it somewhat hard to open the lid. Rare antique hand made sewing kit hand embroidered to the spine with the date of 1897 and what appears to be the makers name. The kit has an English or French silk brocade covered cover with 12 sections inside made from linen with a silky finish. Each section has a hand written notation in ink with a flap trimmed in pink silk and a tiny pearl button(a few of the loops are broken or missing) Some of the sections contain their original contents ~ a chevron patterned silk needle case containing needles. Some pearl and linen buttons, silks and ribbon. In very good condition ~ minor soiling ~ and measuring 9" x 4 1/4" laid out flat. Acquired during my recent trip to England. Antique Sailor's Sail Making Repair Sewing Kit
Antique sailor's repair/sewing sail kit. Nice old box with brass hinges measures 9" x 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" This set has a lot of nice pieces including decorative needle case with different sized needles. Serving mallet, fids, awls, old wood spooled thread(Barbours Linen Thread and Lincoln Combed Sea Island Cord) ruler with brass fittings, various cloths, small scissors, Bees wax, and knife case. The well-used knife that comes with the set looks to be a later addition. Missing is a sailor's palm and original knife that would have gone with the leather case. As for other issues/condition: box has minor split at top; some iron needles are rusted; ruler markings are legible for the most part, but some numbers hard to see; knife has some rust spots; fid/awl with brass ferrule has small chip in handle. This auction is for an Antique Carved/Fitted sewing case or an ETUI. The piece is quite heavy for its size and weights a sturdy 94 grams with the tools inside. The piece measures approximately 3 1/8 inches in length and 1 7/8 inches in width. Allowing for the release catch. It is possible that the Thimble is original to this kit; however. The scissors definitely are not original(they don't fit properly. But they will be sent with the etui as they came with it) The hinges on the box have no makers marks that I can find but are in good working condition; however. Antique bone, hand inked Indian Totem design-thimble/needle/thread sewing kit
This is a very old carved bone sewing case from my family's curio collection. It stands 3" high and tapers toward the base. The very colorful totem is hand inked in the scrimshaw tradition. The totem is decorated in Indian themes with even a papoose toward the bottom. The totem rests in the grass which trails around the back. The top is a screw on thimble. Inside is a bone needle case with a screw-on top and three outer places to spool thread. It really is beautiful and artistically illustrated. Thanks.

I am not sure if the pieces came together but fir nicely in box. Thimble is marked(B or HJ with hallmarks. Scissor blade. Awl point, knife blade and needle are not silver. Box lid hinges are broke.
