Antique 19TH Century TAILOR SCISSORS /SHEARS 14" Possibly R. Heinisch Inventor
Up for auction is a pair of antique tailor shears/garment scissors. I can find no makers markings on these. But they have THE LOOK of R. Heinisch scissors. I did look at the bolt through a 10x jewelers loop. But still could find no markings. I did not clean the bolt area for fear of ruining the antiquity of this scissor. I was told these were from a Levi's plant here in New Mexico. But I have no proof of such. It is in good used condition. Nice patina, still shows some of the original paint on the handles. Measurements: 13" long. 6" cutting blades, handle is 4" wide-4" long, made for right hand, nice grips. Please contact me prior to bidding if you have any questions. Thanks! Check out my other items!

BIG 1859 R Heinisch Inventor Tailor Shears Scissors 14.5" Civil War Era
UP FOR SALE IS A BIG 1859 R Heinisch Inventor Tailor Shears Scissors 14.5" Civil War Era. one neat pair of antique scissors or shears. The latest patent date is 1859. I have always been fond of any items leading up to or during the Civil war. One can only imagine the history of these shears. They are marked Newark NJ so perhaps they were used to make uniforms as our nation geared for war. Who knows. Anyway they are neat, They are a whopping 15" long. The center brass piviot is marked" R. Heinisch Inventor LAtest Patent 1859 Newark NJ" Take a look at the photos. The brass has wear but all characters except the"R&K" in Newark are ledgable. They work fine. T is a stess brake in the large oval on the handle. It is pictured. It is not weak and is still strong and functional. These are heavy solid metal and will ... morelast another 150 years. It is a remarkable piece and has great lines. Again, Just imagine the history. During the Civil War all hands were producing for the soldiers, I bet this piece played its part in some garment factory. T is virtually no paint left on this. I can see what looks like reminants of black paint inside the handles. This is a great period piece.
