Normal 0 These scissors have been in our family for many years. I did some research on German silver hallmarks to see if the one on these scissors could be found. Although these scissors are not silver but an alloy there were no exact matches but there were some similarities. Which normally proves nothing. These are most likely made of“German silver” This type of metal was developed in Germany in the late 1800's as a less expensive substitute for silver and is actually a white alloy containing copper. Zinc and nickel. They are 3.75 inches in length. The condition is very good for its age and material. There are some areas on the finger holes where the plating is flaking. The design is rather ornate for a basic scissors. They work well on cutting paper and material.

The scissors are marked as follows: On the open tail side of the scissors: G[er]MAN[y] It looks like the"er" is completely worn off and that the"y" missed the edge of the scissor. On the open swan side, the mark reads: LLR&Co. There is clearly an"S. above ... morethe LLR&Co; however, I cannot make out the rest. 3. This beautiful. Collapsable, silver metal pocket buttonhook has no markings, except some pretty feather-like stenciling on one side. It measures 3 3/4-inches when fully open and 2-inches when collapsed. It is very solid and well made; there is some"green-like" tarnish on the inside of the sheath. This leads me to believe it may contain copper. 4. Silver metal buttonhook with handle design is in very good working condition; however. On one side, there is some rusting. Please view the photograph. 5. Pfeilring Solingen Deco 9" German Scissors Heintz Smith Metal Art Buffalo 1920s
Here is a wonderful 9" Made in Germany" scissors in a brass case. One side is marked"Pfeilring Solingen" with the arrow& circle logo. The case is made by Smith Art Metal of Buffalo. Which was the offshoot of Heintz American Arts and Crafts movement. Otto Heintz died suddenly on January 10. 1918. Sales manager Fred Smith and some major craftsmen defected and began to compete with their old employer under the name Smith Metal Arts Co. incorporated April 24, 1919. The Heintz Art Metal Shop continued for another 12 years until finally succumbing to the Great Depression on February 11, 1930" The scissors are still sharp with no corrosion or pitting. They do need to be cleaned and polished. The tip of the blades make slight rub contact. The 7.25" case is brass and unmarked. The leather sleeve inside has a small ... moreworn spot. Two cork discs. One which has slight area gone(see photo) are attached to the shiny side. The edges are plain and in good condition. The front has lost some finish as is shown; after the photo, I tried a bit of Brasso polish which did seem to help. Both pieces are stylish. Sturdy and well made. Vintage ornate handles scissors from our parents estate. One Side has imprinted MAGNA on it and the other side is very hard to read. Looks like EKCELLER& COMANY. Or FKCEILER& Co. under that it looks like Germany. Screw holding the two sides together. Scissors measure exactly 9"
