The jar is in overall good condition with one shallow chip under the rim of the lid. Mild wear to the painted decor and gilding at the foot is noted in photos. Interestingly, the original painted decor and gilding was removed and was painted over with the flowers, perhaps the original jar purchaser cancelled their order and the maker painted over the removed design to save the jar for continued use (see pics 16-19 for reference). Measures 12 inches in height and approximately 5.5 inches in diameter including the lid.

Up for auction we have a beautiful antique porcelain apothecary jar. The jar is white porcelain with black and gold accents added. The label says"Palma Christi" which also means palm of Christ. This is in reference to castor oil and it was named palm of Christ because of its ability to heal wounds and cure ailments. It is in good condition with no chips. Cracks or crazing. It has very little color loss to the black and gold accents and comes complete with the original lid. It stands about 10 1/2 inches tall and 5 inches wide. We have recently purchased a major estate of a serious collector of all things unique. Vintage and antique. Old Paris. French 19th century porcelain apothecary jar, with hand painted cartouche, red/burgundy and gold, laurel leaf wreath, and Hygea's cup. Inscription in Latin. 10 1/2 inches in height. Some rubbing to gilding, otherwise in near pristine condition for age; no chips or cracks to either lid or jar. Incised numbers on underside of jar.

FRENCH PORCELAIN APOTHECARY JAR 19th CENTURY HANDPAINTED QUASSIA AMARA I am offering a beautiful antique apothecary jar made in France in the 19th century. The jar measures 9-1/2 inches high and 4-1/2 inches in diameter. The gilt enamel decorations are a mixture of transfer and hand-painting. The jar formerly held an extract of Quassia Amara. There is some minor wear to the gilding from handling and use. The jar is otherwise in very good condition. It has no cracks or chips(please see photos) Shipping with USPS standard mail within the United States will cost $30.00. The jar and lid will be double-boxed for shipping. I will insure the package at my own cost. I will ship international.

The jar reads: EXT:AT:BEL: Measures approximately 11” h(incl. lid) x 4.5” dia. Overall condition is poor/fair. There is a large crack and chip on back. Gilt rubbed, surface dirt. Some minor scratches on both lids. One jar has a spot of discoloration on the inner edge, which appears to be from manufacturing. Stamped on the bottom with French address and#30. A great piece.
