Co.8.25" Glass Apothecary Bottle& Stopper. Enamel Gold Rimmed Label,C.1889. It is 4 1/2 inches square. It has a recessed Enamel Label. Label intact. In 1857 the Whitall Tatum Company was a major manufacturer of pharmacy,druggist,barber, perfume, chemical and other types of bottles throughout much of the mid and late 19th century. W.T. is especially well known for the production of prescription bottles, blown for hundreds of pharmacies across the country. This is one of their beautiful old and hard to find pieces. Whitall Tatum 1889 Glass Label Apothecary Bottle LUG Glyco-Thymoline A very nice apothecary jar made by the Whitall Tatum Company. It is embossed on the bottom with"Pat Apr 2 1889 W.T. Co. The label is under glass. The inside of the neck and the stopper bottom are acid frosted. The stopper itself is such a little piece of art. Looks to be hand blown and"hollow" on the inside. It has a decorative thumbnail design around the top. The bottle measures 5 3/4" tall(with stopper) and 1 3/4" deep. There are no chips or cracks to the bottle and the label is completely intact. There is some"cracking" for lack of a better term- I really don't know much about old bottles) to the label but given the age. This seems very insignificant to me. There is no heavy clouding or residue to the inside of the bottle. The stopper ... morehas one tiny chigger on one of the thumbnails but this was only noticed by touch and nothing major. It once held Glyco-Thymoline which appears to have been mouth wash. I think"Scope" sounds much more user friendly. don't you? With Ground Glass Stopper Embossed on bottom: PAT. APR 2. 1889" W.T.CO" For Whitall Tatum Company) This Apothecary Bottle was rescued from the basement of a family-owned Brooklyn pharmacy established in 1875. It measures 10" high to the top of stopper and 3 1/2" across the base. The powder jar. Was blown in a mold(BIM) with an applied neck and ground glass stopper, It also has a recess in the glass for a label and a paper Merck& Co. Label. It held one pound of"LITHIUM BENZOATE MERCK" powder. See photo below) I will also include one original printed envelope(see below) Showing the location and establishment date 1875. Of the pharmacy where this bottle was used. A photo of the store that was taken in the 1920s is at the bottom of this page. The bottle is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. One marked Bay Rum and the other violet ammonia under a glass cover. Bottles are marked WT Co on the back of the paper labels. Patent pending date is 1889. Bottles are just under 5.5" tall with a ground glass stoppers. Jars are in fairly good used condition. The violet ammonia bottle has quite a bit of fogging the bay rum not so much. Also paper labels under the glass cover are crazed and stained. No apparent chips or cracks. One stopper might have some tiny flea bites around the bottom. Please see pictures above. Found this in my Grandpas basement. this is an extremely rare antique late 19th century Apothecary Pharmacy Bottle in clear glass. The bottle is hand-blown. This would have been used for pharmaceutical powders and liquids in a Doctor's office or pharmacy at that time. The sign I believe is hand-painted and reads: P. CRETAE CO. The gold raised label I believe is porcelain enamel over the glass. But I'm not%100 sure. The gold frame is typical for these Apothecary Jars in the late 19th century. There is a small crack over the label in the left bottom corner. The bottle is in pretty good condition for its age. Could use a cleaning or not up to you especially the interior) DIMENSIONS: Approximately 7 inches(almost 8" with the lid on.high and 2.1/2 inches wide. The bottom of the bottle is marked: W& T Co. which notes that it was ... moremade by Whithall Tatum Company in New Jersey. Which was one of the first glass factories in America. It also has raised letters which state: Pat April 2. 1889" The top stopper IS UNMARKED WITH NO CHIPS OR DINGS. Appears to be 254 g written on it. The top of the bottle has NO chips or dings. Minor ding on the edge of the top which doesn't detract from the overall appearance once the stopper is in. This is being offered for sale in original condition as found. This is a antique apothecary jar marked W. T. CO. PAT APR 2 1889. The jar has molding flaws and bubbles in the glass. The stopper has a molding flaw? on the inside(not through the piece) and a large chip on the inside. The stopper and jar are ground. COBALTUM 1889 Apothecary Glass Bottle Jar for Pharmacy for Sexual Disturbances
This is an Antique Glass Apothecary Jar with a patent date of April 2 1889. The jar has a glass and gold label that reads Cobaltum. I looked up Cobaltum and it was prescribed for"sexual disturbances" The jar has the original stopper. It measures 8" tall. The glass label has a crack that runs through the left side. The label is in nice condition and is protected by a indentation in the bottle design. The bottle with the stopper is approximately 10 inches tall. The bottom of the bottle is approximately a 3-1/2 inch square with rounded edges, and the diameter at the top is approximately 1-5/8 inches. The writing on the bottom of the bottle is PAT APR 2 1889 W T CO D. The bottle will ship in a medium flat rate priority mail box. I can fit up to two bottles safely in the box.
