They range in height from 7 inches to 10.25 inches. With the bases embossed W. T. Co. 1889 and F. S. St Louis, MO. 1894. One ground glass stopper is missing, 3 stoppers have cracks that have been glued. The label on the last bottle is detached with a chipped corner. For the Collector of Americana! Wonderful lot of both vintage and antique bottles for the collector. A few are patent bottles circa late-1800's. Many have labels still attached. And dried contents, as shown. This is a auction for a group of three antique glass apothecary jars that each have the labels under glass. There are two with small stoppers and one with a bit bigger stopper. Each stopper fits nicely and the labels are in nice shape as well with only a bit of the labels missing on the edges as shown. They each stand approximately 9" tall with one being 9 1/2" tall. There are no chips. Cracks, or cloudiness on the jars the lids are all ground and have some wear on the ends. The jars contained as follows, Pot. Iodid, Ol Terebinth, and Fl. Ex. Stramonii. Not only are the ones with labels covered by glass harder to find(especially in the U.S. but finding a set the use of which is very closely related(and easily understood) is far more difficult! PLEASE NOTE: The box behind the apothecary jars is NOT for sale but was used simply as a backdrop for the photos. Don't miss out on this absolutely wonderful antique set of seven apothecary jars with glass covered gilt framed paper labels and glass stoppers in very good condition all made by Whitall Tatum Company- marked on the bottom"W T Co" which dates it to as early as 1901 but no later than about 1920 when their mark changed. Whitall ... moreTatum Company was one of the first glass manufacturers in the U.S. Operated from 1806- 1938, and was located in Millville, NJ where silica-based sand(used to make glass) is plentiful. Each of the seven jars in this set has a different label. They are: Violet Water. Bay Rum, Cologne, Lavender Water, Florida Water, Lilac Water, and Witch Hazel. A couple of these were a bit of a mystery to us, namely Bay Rum and Florida Water, so we had to do a little research via the Internet. In case they are to you too, we will tell you what we found out. Bay Rum is a scented liquid used as an aftershave or put in the hair. It is made of rum and bayberry leaves. Florida Water is the American version of Cologne Water. It still has a citrus base but more orange than the lemon of Cologne Water. Added to this are spicy notes including lavender and clove. Please note. These were purchased by us together; however, the labels are not all completely identical(some have a plain gilt frame, others have a gilt frame with a thin red line through it) and the original owner may have purchased some later than others. 8 Early 1900's Antique Apothecary bottles. Some amber, a clear one as well. Some still have tablets and many still have original cork in them. And what makes these really stand out are the original labels. One of the labels is homemade and says"Wright's stain" on it. Wow.Sort of puts you in mind of something you would see on the Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman shows. Apparently from what has been communicated to me, these bottles had originated from various pharmaceuticals in KY, VA, and TN in the early 1900's and were discovered in the estate of a deceased doctor. I am not an antique dealer so I'll be honest and say I don't know the worth of these but I do know what they're bringing on Etsy, EBay, etc. I want to be fair and start without a reserve. Gold, black on white labels are in great condition and inset within each bottle. There are also smaller paper labels on the outside in the back of each bottle.
