Nice Old LG Antique Amber Apothecary, Doctor, Medicine Bottle, Glass Stopper
Here's another old. Antique or vintage bottle from among the group we've been listing. This one seems to be an apothecary bottle of medium large size from somewhere in the early 1900' to perhaps 1930's would be our guess. It is an amber color with nice matching glass stopper. It is very clean and has no chips, cracks etc. to mention. We think this was more of an apothecary or doctor's supply type bottle versus being a decanter based on it's style and color. It is about 9 inches tall and 4.25 inches in diameter. There is an embossed glass mark on the bottom"8" and another one that appears to be an"M" or perhaps a"W" within a circle. That's about it. Some with remnants of medicine still inside. Seven bottles still have typewritten labels inside. The medicines include: Phenobarbital. Bardon, Secobarbital Sodium, Euphedital, Digitora, Methe-Benzoate, Sodium Pentobarbital, the rest have no labels inside. The case closed measures about 6 1/4" by 3 3/4" by 2" Opened all the way up it measures 13" by 6 1/4" by 1" Each bottle has a black plastic screw cap and measures 3 1/4" tall by just over 1 3/4" wide. Good afternoon. And thank you for looking at my auction item. This is a 1930's era travelling veterinary doctor's medicine kit. I will get to the History of the piece shortly but first. Let me describe the item. This is a folding(gatefold) medicine wallet measuring 9 inches in Length. 3 3/4 Inches in Height and approx. 2 Inches Deep(when closed) It has a 2-snap closure flap with snaps/buttons to secure it closed. Exterior color is Black Textured/Grooved apparent Leather(smells and feels like leather) and the interior is a Maroon fabric. NO visible tears in case however, it does show visible signs of use/wear(See Photos) There is also fold-out storage compartment(seems hidden) on the inside of the upper bottle tray. In this case. This appears to be where the Vet stored pill boxes and his business card. Each Side of the interior has ... more12 glass bottle(vile) holders. To hold a total of 24 glass bottle/viles. 23 of the glass bottles are included with this item. The 24th bottle was NOT present in this kit when I purchased it. Each Bottle is approx. 3 1/2 inches in height, are round and have"screw-on" silver caps. The bottles appear to ALL be clear glass however, there is a LOT of residue inside of these bottles causing 1 to appear black, 1 to appear brown, and 1 to appear White in color. Likewise, as stated, there is a LOT of residue remaining in these bottles that is NOT to be taken as medicine, or ingested in anyway. In order to preserve this piece, I have NOT washed-out the bottles and I can NOT determine what is/was in these bottles prior to my taking ownership. Now. Let's start getting into the cooler features of this item. 22 of the 23 glass bottles have medicine labels on that indicating what was stored in the bottles over the years. EVEN BETTER. These labels are HAND WRITTEN by the vet that used this medicine kit. Labels are definitely aged and feature SEVERAL cross-outs and re-writes(as the medicines changed, I am assuming, the Vet changed the labeling on the bottles to reflect the accurate

This black leather travel bag has a top carry handle and snaps closed at the front by means of a push lever. Interior of bag has four sections with metal clips that hold 10 bottles in each section. Condition: Glass vials are perfect and do not look like they were ever used. Threaded metal caps have cork embedded in the top. I found about 6 caps that have a small amount of corrosion. Otherwise all are perfect. Case is in excellent condition inside and outside. The leather strap on top shows wear, but remains very strong.
