One of two similar jars out of the same South Hampton New York estate This jar measures 11 inches and is 12 inches in diameter(28 by 30.5 cm) The glaze is multi-colored in the deep rich colors typical of Italian majolica from this era. The front of the jar is decorated with a portrait of a gentleman. Complete with high collar. Around the man and covering the rest of the jar is a decorated an elaborate and finely painted flower and vine motif. The bottom of the jar is marked with the famous Cantagalli pottery symbol a rooster or a cockerel. The condition overall is excellent. Italian Porcelain Apothecary-Pharmacy Jar by Ginori c. 1800's Pedestal Base #2
Italian Ginori Apothecary/Pharmacy Jar c. 1800's#2 This jar is beautifully proportioned with ribbed bottom which tapers to a pedestal base. The rim does have one chip which can be viewed in my pictures. But it does not show with lid on for display. That is the only chip and there may be some slight glazing commensurate with its age and normal wear. The inside bottom also is not as smooth as jar#1, but it has not been repaired and is very sturdy. The maker may not have glazed inside as well as other jar. Please see picture#7 where I tried to show this area. This in no way detracts from the jar and I mention to give an accurate description. This comes from the estate of a pharmacist and was on display in his home for many years. It measures approximately 10" high without lid and 13" high with lid. The lid is about 6 1/4" ... morewide. The pedestal base bottom is about 4 1/2" wide. The middle of the lidded jar measures about 5 1/2" at the widest portion. It has nice blue trim with gold label and shows minor age related wear to the gold embellishment. Please view pictures carefully. This is a clean and clear leaded glass apothecary jar with a lid from Italy in excellent condition(Height: 8-3/4 inches est. with lid) Its vibrant label informs us that it was made to contain the roots of ipecac. The hand-blown glass of the jar was very well made with only a very few tiny bubbles or natural irregularities. The painted label is in three colors: gold. Black and light orange or orange/yellow. The un-threaded metallic lid is in two colors: red and the same light orange or yellow/orange color.

This is a stunningly large vintage hand painted ornate porcelain Italian lidded apothecary medicine jar. It is marked on the bottom of the jar and made by KBNY Italy. It's painted with an abundance of intricate detailing and beautiful color. it has shiny gold gilded trim and a high gloss finish. there is a large circular foot and two very ornate handles which are also gilded in gold. it has a removable hand painted lid that sits recessed into the jar and has a large gold finial. it is in very nice condition and measures 12 1/8 inches tall by 9 inches wide. This blue& white hand painted pharmacy apothecary measures appr. 12" tall to the top of the finial of the lid. It is marked on the bottom MEDICAL TIMES ITALY. The front of the apothecary is marked POLIGALA SENEGA( a perennial herb that was exported to Europe in the 1700's& was sold widely by pharmacists in the 1800's. It was marketed as a treatment for pneumonia) The apothecary as well as the lid are in excellent condition- no cracks or chips. It is quite a hefty piece weighing over 3lbs.
