This is a Dakota Drug Store Apothecary Candy Jar with the ground glass. No mark, age unknown No chips. Cracks or breaks, Has 2 little small nicks on rim at the lip. It is showing age of the discoloring of glass. I was just informed that this is called Old Sick Glass and will Not Clean up. I have tried many products and could not clean it up. RARE EXHIBITION SIZE 17" ANTIQUE DAKOTA APOTHECARY DRUG STORE JAR CANDY BOTTLE
Here we have an early ~ DAKOTA APOTHECARY JAR IN A RARE 17" SIZE ~ we recently acquired out of a private estate. There was an old note inside that states this JAR WAS USED TO DISPLAY DRUGS BY THE UPJOHN CO AT THE COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION IN CHICAGO 1893. We could not find any other examples that were this large. And believe that it was actually made for an exhibit at the 1893 Worlds Fair. This apothecary jar measures 17 inches tall by 9 inches across" in the middle" and it weighs an amazing 9 1/2 pounds. It is in very nice condition with only a few little chips around the ground edge of the stopper. The top rim has a few tiny little flea bites" not bad" and the base does not have and chips or damage. This Beautiful Large Apothecary Jar is a one of a kind! The lid is so pretty and has ground glass on the large stopper section. The body has some small bubbles. The rim/mouth of the jar is also ground. The shape of the body is rectangle with the cut corners to add detailed charm. The lid does have thumbprint designs and the top is shiney with a very pretty bubble design(see pics) The mouth of the Jar is large enough to stick you hand inside and will look very nice in any room filled with just about anything you can fit inside. THIS AUCTION IS FOR AN ANTIQUE APOTHECARY JAR. This is an absolutely stunning jar! It is huge! Pics really don't do justice. The jar is crystal clear. It has a thumbprint pattern on the lid, the top of the jar and around the base. It measures 15 1/2 inches tall with a pedestal that is 7 inches in diameter. The ball part of the jar measures 25 inches around. There is a small chip on the under side of the lid, but not on the piece that goes into the jar. It is not easily seen. There is another small chip on the rim of the jar. It is not seen when the lid is on the jar. I have added pictures of both chips so there isn't any mistake about the condition. It is a fantastic piece and very old. Up for bids is a Very Nice Antique Dakota Drug Store Apothecary Jar. This is 9 1/4" tall with the lid. 8" without the lid, and 4"wide in the middle. There is a curving line 1/2" long on one side about 3" up from the bottom. I found a flea bite on top of the bottle rim with my fingernail. I couldn't find anything on the lid except the number 35. These are not bad flaws but should be mentioned. For its age its in Great Shape. I pack well and mail asap. Glass Clear Square 9.5 inch Canister or Storage Jar. With a ground glass lid in the Dakota or Baby Thumbprint pattern. Both jar and lid are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or scratches. Please note in photos 4 and 5, on the lid are two tiny areas on the lid. I can't call these chips. I think they are bubbles from manufacturing that are causing rough spots. You be the judge. The canister measures 4 and 5/8 inches in diameter at the top, is 5 1/8 inches square at the base and stands 9 1/2 inches tall with lid. These square canisters are very hard to find. I am also listing the 6.5 inch canister that matches this one.

Nice Antique Pre-WW2 General/Drug Store Dakota 12 Inch Apothecary Or Candy Jar
Up for auction is a very nice old candy/apothecary jar from an old general store or drug store. It is is very nice shape but shows a little wear as you might expect from an older jar. The jar is about 12 inches to the top of the stopper. I am not an expert on these but I see other listings where this style is called a Dakota. You collectors will likely know far more than me. Up for auction are these 3 single pieces of Dakota Apothecary Jars- All that is left of a dropped box of jars. The first items in a cylindrical jar without a lid. Measuring 8-5/8" tall and is 1-5/8" from rim to rim that inserts in a bottle. It is clear and without any chips or cracks. The tall lid measures 3-1/2" tall and has a 1-1/8" inside opening. Beautiful large vintage apothecary swirl jar. It is in overall great shape. I did note some flea bites around the rim of the jar(and two small outside hairlines) and lid rim(one on the uppser side of lid) but it still sits nicely on top. This apothecary is an Antique/Vintage jar. I believe this to be a little rare due to it's size. This measures approximately 8.5" in height with the lid on. The lid has 3 mold marks and is ground. Thumbprint design along edge. There are no chips or nicks. I could not find any fleabites to my naked eye. The base has a diamond point pattern in a band on the neck. The belly of the base is shaped like a globe that measures approximately just shy of 4" front to back. There is a pedestal base which also carries a thumbprint pattern as well. There is a few mild scratches on the belly that could be easily buffed out. Hardly noticeable but mentionable. Listed f or your bidding pleasure. Is this Large Antique Vintage c.1900 Dakota Apothecary Swirl Top Candy Jar. It is in wonderful condition with no cracks or dings. It does have the normal strawmarks(these are on the top rim and the lid) and bubbles that this old glass always has. There is the teeniest tiny fleabite roughness on the lid rim edge and it was hard to find. The bottom shows some wear from all the years of use across the drug store counter. The lid and inner top is ground and frosted. It stands 12 1/2" tall to the top of lid. This in one of the nicest Dakota jars that I've had in years! Antique 19th C Tall Clear Glass Apothecary Jar Thumbprint Lid 1892 Date Dakota? A 26 years long time antique dealer in this area is closing her doors for good. And I actually spent two days picking this weekend through her stuff. She specialized in very old primitives, but I was able to grab a little bit for everyone– I have some fabulous advertising, industrial, retro, deco, lots of store displays and apothecary too– you don’t want to miss this week! I loveLoveLOVE old apothecary jars- and I got the best for you. So be sure to check out my other listings, I'll be listing all week. This one is a tall one an old one, and an original used one. With the recessed area on one side where a lable would have once been, it has a mark on the bottom that reads, Patd. March 1892, along with what looks like some other markings(numbers? letters? that ... moreI cannot read. The heavy lid has a pressed thumbprint design that I have seen labled in my research as Dakota- but I do not know glass, so am not sure, please see what you think. It is made from clear glass that has mold lines going up two opposite edges- they continue up the neck and stop just under the top rim which appears to be blown. The lid also has mold lines that can be seen on the clear sides only- the top having swirls in the blass, and the bottom frosted with no lines. The lid is really heavy- it weighs 3/4 lbs, while the jar weighs just under 2 lbs. Put together, the piece is 12" tall to the top of the lid, 10 1/2" tall to the top of the jar, and the jar measures 4 1/8" by 4 1/8" at the bottom, with the front and back walls/sides of the jar being rounded/convex and the left and right short sides straight. The jar is in excellent solid and sturdy structural condition- I cannot find a crack or a chip, not even on the top rim. It has scratching to the glass that can be seen- especially on the front where the label impression is, and it's reallyreallyreally dirty- dirt and dust on the outside along with some dried dealer price tag residue on the

I have seen these listed as Dakota Swirl but my reference says this is Columbia Swirl made by US Glass at Tiffin OH. This is the first of two that I have of this style and it is the larger of the 2. It does have one chip larger and two small chips on the lid. It does have the normal strawmarks(these are on the top rim and the lid) and bubbles that this old glass always has. The bottom shows some wear from all the years of use across the drug store counter. The lid is ground and frosted but the base is not frosted where the lid goes. Selling"AS IS" This antique Dakota Clear Glass Jar is in good used condition. The lid and base each features a 12 thumbprint pattern with a diamond cut pattern around the jars neck. The lid and its rim have a crack& chip. The top is smooth to the touch and the rim is a bit rough. The jars mouth opening has a couple of flea bite nicks& the round globe has a couple of manufacturers bubbles. Both normal considering the age. Approximate measurements are as follows: 12" tall with the lid on. The mouths opening/rim measures 3.25" across, bottom base measures 5.25" across& the round globe measures 19" in diameter. I have two of them and may offer the second pending the outcome of the auction. The jar is in very nice condition. It has absolutely no chips or cracks. There are some air bubbles and straw marks from the manufacturing process. There also are some scratches that look to have been caused by something hard such as a diamond. It is nothing distracting and is not unusual due to its age and use. It will need a good cleaning. I have done nothing to it. The jar. With lid is 13" tall and is 7" at its widest area. The mouth opening is 4" The jar is heavy, weighing just over 5 pounds before packaging. That will account for the higher shipping charge. Antique Dakota Apothecary Jar Dakota style. Thumb print and diamond block design. Early 19th century. Used in pharmacies and candy stores. Measures: 11" high. 6" wide. 5.25" wide at base. There are small chips along the inner rim of the jar. The lid has a couple of teensy flea bites on the outer rim. None of these hurt the integrity or looks. These old jars were used daily.
