You are looking at a nice antique medicine cork top bottle. This bottle is amber glass and embossed with"Hicks Capudine for all headaches. Colds, grip, etc. The bottle is in very good found condition with no chips or cracks. The bottle is 6" tall and 2" in width. G. F. Harvey Coryza No. 3 Bottle Measures approximately 4-1/2" tall. A couple of the ingredients mentioned on the label are Morphine and Strychnine. When I held the bottle up to the light. I noticed a faint line to the inside area of the neck that goes all the way around. The cork is stuck in the bottle, so it is kind of difficult to review the line. I assume this line is a superficial crack of sort, but I suppose it could be maker related. I prefer that you assume the worst as well. One top corner of the bottle has quite an evident amount of scratching and bite wear. And there is additional scratching on this edge. The back of the bottle has an easily noticed approximate 3/4" scuff. Another corner has a maker related blister or bump of sort that has roughness to the tip. The bottle has more scratching and related surface wear here ... moreand there throughout. The label has a nasty amount of darkening and discoloration. Along with fading, dullness, loss and edge wear. Because of this wear, much of the text is difficult to read. The label also has a couple areas of old writing. The cork seems to be in the bottle rather tightly. So I didn't try to remove it. The cork is definitely worn, dulled and darkened. It is probably brittle enough that if you tried to remove it, the cork may get damaged. The bottle is empty. Though likely impractical because the cork is stuck. The inside of the bottle needs to be cleaned. It looks dusty in there, and one corner has some old residue built up. Please look to the pics to best judge what you are bidding on. I have more pharmaceutical bottles from the same drug store collection listed this week. So please be sure to check them out as well. I do combine on shipping to save you money. This is a near mint bottle of Potassium Bromide by Wm. S. Merrell of Cincinnati. Ohio. The cork comes off. The label on bottle has slight bend in lower left corner. It is embossed on the bottom. The original box is in fair condition. The bottle measures approx 3" x 1" Potassium bromide( K Br) is a salt. Widely used as an anticonvulsant and a sedative in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. With over-the-counter use extending to 1975 in the US. The company traces its roots back to 1828 when William S. Merrell opened the Western Market Drug Store at Sixth Street and Western Row(now Central Avenue) in downtown Cincinnati. Ohio. Merrell expanded into the wholesale drug business. Following his death in 1880 his sons formed the William S. Merrell Chemical Company. This is a lot of six small brown apothecary bottles. All but one has some of its original contents. Which are in all cases pills in various stages of decay. They all have a cork top. Also in various stages of condition and decay. Some appear to have been sealed with string or wax in addition to the cork. The smallest bottle measures 2.75" The largest 4.5" The bottles are in fair condition. With no chips or cracks. They would make an excellent foundation or addition to a vintage medical or bottle collection!
