Up for auction is a vintage child's school desk and chair in good condition. The desk has adjustable legs and the chair adjusts and swivels 90 degrees. The desk adjusts from 23" to 19 1/4" and the seat is from 14" to 11" The desk top measures 20 1/2" x 14 1/4" The seat is 13 3/4" x 10 3/4" across, the back rest measures 14 1/4" high. It is painted green, there is some wear, some minor surface rust and the wood could use a refinishing. The patent date is July 28, 1925 and is on the last photo. Thank you for looking. Vintage Child's School Desk 2 Piece Adjustable Industrial Steampunk
Up for auction is a black& red child's school desk. The desk legs adjust from 21 1/2" in the lower position and 26 1/2 in the upper position. The desk measures 20 1/2" x 14 3/16" and has an inkwell& pencil groove. The chair seat is 19" x 12 1/4" and the back is 19" x 15 1/8" The chair in the down position is 14" and 17" up. These are all approximate measurements. It is in good condition with surface rust. The desk will be partially disassembled to reduce box size and shipping cost. It is not difficult to reassemble. It is wood and metal and some additional cleaning may be desired. There are some splatters of paint on the desk top and the top of the back of the chair as photoed. This is a pair of really nice desks that came from the original McGuffey school in Oxford Ohio. Famous for the McGuffey readers. McGuffey taught in Oxford Ohio and was a revolutionary educator with new ideas on how to teach children. Desk are made by landslow fowler company out of Rochester NY from the early 1900s. Smaller is probably for a 1st or 2nd grader. Larger one for a 3rd or 4th grader. Approximately 100 years old. Adjustable tilt top. Nice drawer. Very sturdy. Great aesthetics.
