Condition: Used Location: Novato, United States I am not an expert but an antique furniture appraiser looked at this piece recently and stated this is a unique desk that he's never seen one quite ... morelike it. It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested. I hate to part with such a beautiful and unique item but we no longer have the room and it just doesn't fit our decor. The dimensions are 40 1/2” tall its tallest point. 33 1/2“ wide at its widest point at the base, and 19” deep when closed,and 34“ deep when opened. Local pickup only.

Hello. Here's a great old project desk. OAK SECRETARY DESK! It measures: 41" Tall in the back. The desk to is approx 28" off floor, 30 3/4" Wide x 14" Deep, with 2 3/4" deep Drawers. It's very solid& quite attractive despite is custom huumm paint job. It looks like pretty OAK underneath. Just needs some elbow grease to bring it back out. It needs work but it's not all hammered up, doesn't look like it's been abused(except for paint) I have no keys to it, unknown if locks work properly. This desk has the original curved. Rounded glass on the left side, which makes it really beautiful and elegant. There are shelves behind the glass to hold books and miscellaneous. The right side has a pull-down writing platform. And some cubby holes for envelopes, index cards, etc. and a small drawer for pencils, stamps, etc. Desk has all original hardware. The top has a beveled mirror and a shelf for decorative or practical items. The shelves to the left could be taken out and used as a gun case, but I've never used it for that, and you would have to put in your own lock and key. This is for pick-up only. Excellent Antique Oak Larkin No 17 Secretary's Desk
I've been busy trying to get some good stuff in shop to try to jump-start sales a bit and upcoming shopping season is coming quickly. I went to a good auction in upstate New York the other day and tried to pick up smaller furniture that fits within Greyhound Express size limits. Anyway this is a score and I'm proud to offer this for your consideration. I believe this is a No 17 model desk and it is truly in very nice condition with no signs of repairs or break except the bottom drawer has a minor glue in corner. Italian 1900 Antique Hand Crafted Oak Secretary Desk. This secretary desk was hand crafted in Italy around 1900 of solid oak. The old finish with some newer revarnishing preserves lots of antique character. Dings, wear and shrinkage separations from age. Waxed and polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina. Wrought iron side handles are original. Brass hardware is old but not original. The lock on the dropfront does not work, the key is a handle only. Pull out arms support the lid. Inside are eight small drawers plus a locking compartment with inlaid banding and a star on the door. All drawers have hand cut dovetail joints on this historic European furniture. Every surface shows hand planing. Sides are single wide planks and the front has wooden pegs at the joints. This Victorian side by side secretary is made from quarter sawn oak circa 1900. It has the original beveled mirror and original wavy glass in cabinet door. There are adjustable wooden book shelves in the cabinet with bevels in the back for displaying china also. It is in very good condition. Part of the railing around the shelf by the mirror is missing as you can see from the photo. All cabinet doors and the drawer work properly. The dimensions are 73" high. 37.5" wide, and 13" deep.
