It looks as though there was a"light" exterior restoration at some point in the past. But the wood still has it's character.with plenty of original"ware marks" still present. The steel parts and components are all in great shape, free of any nicks or gouges. The interior of the desk has a nice/unique piece of steel hardware which keeps the desktop open, there is also a great pen-holder which runs the full length of desk(SEE PHOTOS#7, 8 and#9) Both desk& chair have adjustable heights: The desktop adjusts from 23" 33" tall and the seat height adjusts from 11" 18" tall. The latest patent date marked on it is 1898, but I can only confirm that it was recovered in the early 1950's by a Portland, Oregon firefighter before his team burned a decrepit school house down for training. It's worn and has markings from students past. Including hearts and initials. There is a chunk of the shelf under the desktop broken off, shown clearly in the pictures. The desk itself is two-tone wood and the frame is wrought iron. MEASUREMENTS: The desk top is 28" high by 24" wide by 16" deep. The seat is 15" high by 24" wide by 13" deep. The seat back is 16" high by 24" wide and stands 31" tall off the ground. If the seat is folded up the desk measures 26" wide side to side. A lovely example of a by gone era. This may in fact be late 19th century. But I strongly suspect it's very early 20th century. It's cast-iron and Oak. Quite heavy for it's size. As seen in the photos, Lettering appears as"Eclipse" 5" twice per side& Cleveland" The seat and desk heights are fully adjustable by a range of about 6 1/2" It must have been touched up or restored at some point with flat black paint, because it has no sign of being adjusted. Other marking in a circle: T Kundtz Cleave O" and further numbers"5& 6 LB" The desktop is about 19-1/2" x 12" for scale. The height of the highest point of the desktop, as it is shown, is about 24" It's quite a nice piece for an early collector. Just that glue line is the only really flaw. The cast-iron shape and super ... moretight old grown grain of the Oak is just not seen or available any more. This matches any arts& crafts era(1890's- 1930's) home perfectly. For auction is a sweet little antique student school desk with a pull out drawer underneath. I was told it is probably from the early 1900's. But I'm not quite sure. It is very heavy and constructed of both wood and metal, which I believe is painted cast iron because of its weight. The metal has rust throughout and the top wooden part of the desk does have some movement. It appears the connecting bar underneath has snapped and will need to be soldered. But overall, this little school desk looks nice, even the way it is. The wood is still in great shape. Hard to come by one like this. Would make a nice photography prop for youngsters. It measures@24.5" high to the top of the seat(the back of chair) and the seat itself sits at@11.5" The wood tray measures@ 20" x 14" at the widest points. They came from a Racine or Kenosha. Wisconsin school. The desks come in two parts. One part is two desks with two chairs. The under shelf of one of the desks is missing. Second part is a folding chair. All three chairs fold up. The height is roughly 28" at the highest point. Desks are about 21" wide and length is about 58" long with seat folded. PICK UP ONLY! Antique original School desk Chair Bench industrial age cast iron wood seat cat
Hello. This is a beautiful antique school chair. It has nice cast iron legs, and original wood. Someone stenciled a cat on the back rest. The seat has three cracks across it,see photos) but it is still very sturdy. A great piece for your country decor. It is 28" tall and 19" wide. It even folds up to take up less space. Thank you! Antique Cast Iron and Wood School Desk--$10 off
SILENT GIANT SCHOOL DESK Antique children's school desk. It measures 22-23 inches high. 17 inches wide and 12 inches from desk to back of seat attached in front. It is heavy and is wrought iron with wood. I took pictures of it apart to show that it can be shipped. Send me a message with your zip code if you are really interested in shipping. Look closely at the pictures. I did not try to change anything with this desk. I noticed normal scratches and wear along with drippings underneath from the ink. The top of the desk could be removed to the original wood underneath. Again I am leaving it exactly the way I found it in my parent's attic.
