It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. Has had quite a bit of work, but the only thing that has been added& ... moreisn't original to this trunk are the leather handles. Everthing else is original to this particular trunk The trunk had 3 coats of paint that were removed from its exterior. Afterward it is was polished witha metal polish, there is still some patina, after 100 plus years it is almost impossible to remove all of that with just cloth and polish lol The paint was light green and off white. In certain places small remnants of the paint may remain. Without damaging the surface of the trunk it is very hard to totally get it all off. Also I think it adds to the already very rustic beautiful charm of the trunk. It is important to note the color variations you see in the pics on the metal ARE NOT paint. This is actually a pattern in the metal. One the end pieces I think it is patina and discoloration. But the middle piece on lower portion, and next to end pieces on top, I think it is the way the metal is made. It is very beautiful, and seems purposefully placed There is very gorgeous and unique hardware. There are little flower or star shaped medallions on top of trunk and on the front of trunk The wooden slats have been sanded stained and finished The handles were replaced with strips of 100% leather Interior of trunk was stripped of all inside paper. It has been left natural wood so new owner may leave as is. Or finish out to suit their needs best. One of the most unique things about this trunk is the locks on either end of trunk. And latch in center Normally one most I have seen. There will a latch on both ends, and a lock in center, this one is reversed! Large size 36 x 21 inches and 24 inches tall Great size for a coffee table. Tv stand, statement piece for any room, or as blanket chest or for storage very sturdy. The wooden tray has the original metal finger lifts on each side so you can easily lift the tray out of the trunk. The inside floor of the trunk is wood but underneath the trunk is metal with the original metal rollers that act as little feet and move the trunk along easily. Estate ~ CHILD SIZE Antique Trunk - Interior Tray Original Canvas USE OR PROJECT
Cute small size travel trunk from the late 1800's thru the turn of the century measuring approx. 20-1/2" wide x 13-3/4" x 15" high. Weighing 15.2 pounds as you see it here this little trunk has the original green canvas covering with clean wood slat contruction. The interior has the original lift out tray with its aged paper! The bottom of the trunk is solid wood. The body is wood under the canvas so you could refinish it to a beautiful pine color if you wanted a project. Use it this way or strip it down to refinish either way its a great size you just don't find these little ones very often in original condition. The handles. This beautiful trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the paper from the inside, we sanded all the wood and then applied tung oil to it as a finish. After much research we have found that tung oil works best because it replenishes the wood and prevents it from drying out so quickly. The lid on this trunk also has a lid stay to help keep it open. You will also find an original picture on the lid. On this trunk are two new leather Amish handles. The original latches on this beautiful trunk also work to keep the lid secure. The lock for this trunk is very rare. It has two latches on one lock. This is the original. We do not have a key for this but we felt that the value of this lock alone with a patent date is more valuable than replacing with a new lock. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. This trunk was obviously one of the higher class trunks produced at this time. This doll chest is in good condition. It has definate aged appearance and patina. There are two areas on the inside where the wood is split to the outside(one on the top and one on the inside backing) scratches and faded areas of original black decorative decor. The bottom has a couple nails sticking out. There is rusting on the decorative brass fixtures. There is some fraying of the wood in various areas and some holes that do not protrude to the outside of the box. There are handles on either side of the box. Beautiful Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key. Interior Compartment Area, and Original Tray With Lids and Pictures Here is an absolutely beautiful dome top steamer trunk or hump back chest from the late 1800's. There are twelve pictures above for you to view and some of them are two in one. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is approximately 26 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 1/2 inches. We have removed some of the metal from between the outer slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This beautiful trunk is made up of poplar base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it. There are some typical distress marks in various places on the wood. ... moreThese include older nicks and dings along with some stress cracks. The majority of all trunks have these similar antique markings which have accumulated over the trunk's long journey or existence. This one has the nice vertical outer slat boards along with horizontal slat boards. The trunk maker did a nice job of putting fancy cap metal on these slat boards. The metal parts that make up this trunk are not brass. So we have brush painted the metal by hand in black and gold leaf. A nice feature on this trunk is that it comes with the original patent dated working lock. We have matched up a key that does work in this lock. The key hole cover is patented, Mar 69& Apr 71" We are not always able to match up keys so that the trunk locks work, but in this case we have. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps which are sturdy. The handle cap metal is cast iron with cute little perforated stars and triangles on them. Some of the slat board cap metal is also patent dated. It is hard to make it out clearly, but it looks like patented 16 of 80, referring to possible March 16 of 1880 because we have had similar hardware

Fabulous 1800's Antique Doll or Child's trunk. In great shape for it's age- very sound structure and no mildew or musty smell. Measures in inches approximately: 9.75 D X 16 W X 11.5 H. Has been in my family since the early 1970's. Features: Small wooden chest of square design with lovely red/brown lithograph paper bearing beautiful designs. Inside there is a removable. 2 compartment top tray. Tray rails are solid and existing. Tray fits firmly and is supported. All metal stays are solid and in place. Paper covering is original. No mildew or musty smells. Metal features are not damaged nor bent. Lid closes firm and completely aligned. Hinge tight. Straight and completely aligned. Inside. Hinge to keep lid from closing unexpectedly(I have not confirmed if hinge locks fully extended, but the lid holds itself up just fine with ... morethe hinge nearly extended to full position) Noteable known defects- see pictures. Leather side handles are missing. Water stains at the bottom. But no water damage inside Some missing paper at edges. Some edges and a section on top. Crack on top of lid and another one on one side. Depression in front side of tray. About the size of a finger. Edge wear. Including an exposed nail. No key- have not tried to latch the lock. Note: A long time ago a piece of paper covering. The size of a nickel came off and was stored inside the chest. I don't know where it came off from. It's included in case you wish to mend it somewhere. The overall dimensions of this truck are: 26" wide(handle to handle) 14" deep(front to back) 17" tall(at it's tallest point) Here are some additional details on it: The center latch is offset of center and looks to use a skeleton type key(keyhole in center) to unlock. I do not have the key for this trunk The latches to either side have a patent date on them of July 9 72(1872) which is awesome to have a date of any kind on a piece like this. Leather handles on each end have long since fallen apart but replacement handles are readily available. Tin and Copper covered with wood trim and accent. Wooden insert tray. Inside of trunk and the tray appear to have ... moresome type of covering on them and the covering coming off and is dirty. I am leaving them as I received it because I know some people want the trunk in original condition and"cleaning it up" can make it less desirable. All the metal accent pieces are present and look to be in good condition when you consider the age of this trunk. All four wheel are present on the bottom. Antique Flat Top BAUER TRUNKS & BAGS Steamer Trunk Complete with Tray & Key
An antique steamer trunk with a brass tag that reads' BAUER TRUNK& BAG CO. OSHKOSH. WIS' The trunk is covered with dark canvas which is held in place with the wood slats and bands of black metal. It has 4 sturdy hinges on the back that hold the lid securely to the bottom and there's a working Corbin lock marked 6 STwith a matching Corbin key. The trunk is complete with its original two compartment covered tray and the lids each have small leather tabs on them that snap closed. One of the lids is cracked toward the back as seen in the photo. The initials D.M.P. have been stamped in black on each side of the trunk. The trunk measures approximately 33" long X 21" wide X 23" high and the size is nearly perfect for use as a coffee table. On the bottom of the trunk are 4 small wheels that make the trunk easy to move ... morearound on any hard flat surface. Usually the black metal on the underside of these old trunks is scratched and dented but the one on this trunk looks great! There are leather handles on the sides and they seem to be in very good condition which is also unusual, generally at least one, if not both, handles are missing. The inside of the trunk is paper lined and most folks like to remove the paper, sand down the interior and then seal the wood or line them with cedar. Both methods are very effective at removing any lingering musty old trunk odors. This trunk is fine enough to use'as is' but could just as easily be a worthy restoration project. No matter how you look at it you'll have lots of additional storage space and a piece of antique furniture that will soon become your very own family heirloom. Gorgeous Refinished Antique Monitor Top Steamer Trunk With Fancy Hardware. Straps and Buckles, Working Lock With Key, and Interior Tray Here is one of the nicest. Fanciest, monitor tops that we have done up ever. This refinished monitor top should date back to around 1900 or so. We have twelve pictures of this one for you to view. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 36 1/4 inches. From floor to top is 26 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/4 inches. This beautiful trunk is called a monitor top trunk because it is styled after the 1800's USS Monitor war frigot or ship. This ship was a big, massive battleship. We have removed some of the metal from between the outer slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This beautiful trunk is made up of pine base wood with ash or oak outer slat ... moreboards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and give it a nice appearance. There are some typical older distress marks or beauty on this trunk that have accumulated over the trunk's long existence. These include nicks and dings in various places and some typical stress cracks. The majority of all trunks that we refinish have similar markings due to age which gives the trunk it's antique appearance. The top front and rear edge is rounded like a waterfall deco style and it is pretty incredible how the trunk maker was able to bend the outer slat boards around this curve without snapping the boards. This beautiful trunk has the very ornate original working lock. It has embossed patterns all over it as you can see in the picture. We did match up a key that works properly in this lock. The cast iron cap metal going across the center of the top has an"S" engraved into it. This trunk has a lot of fancy hardware all over it, none of which is brass, so it has been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The front latches are also original cast iron ones. Antique Steamer Trunk-Dome Top-metal & wood bands-inside tray-circa 1890-1910
Antique dome-topped steamer trunk. Believed to be circa 1890-1910. Wood and most of the metal is in very good shape(could easily be refinished) however, the protective metal bands at corners have received some damage over many years of steamer-travel and freight-handling. The large interior tray is intact, and one of the lid-compartment doors is also intact. Note the decorative panel inside the lid, which is vibrant in color and unblemished. The interior of the trunk has the strong smell of cedar, so I'm assuming that tray construction is of cedar wood underneath the papered covering. Sorry but there is no key. The lid hinges close just slightly"off-center, but the trunk does close and latch securely with care. Can't see a maker's mark, but labels(where legible) indicate travel to NY, so assume it is of American origin. Antique Flat Top Wood & Metal Trunk- Refinished w/ Original Tray
Beautiful old wood and metal travel trunk measures 28" side to side; 16" front to back; and 19" tall. Been totally refinished with 2 coats of stain and coat of poly for easy soap and water clean up. Inside has new wallpaper; original tray was cleaned and left bare wood. New leather handles; bottom has built in rollers- easy to move. Perfect coffee table size; center is totally flat. Antique DOLL TRUNK wood and metal This antique doll trunk still has it's inside divided tray and the original paper lining. The exterior is sturdy wood(has crack in lid) covered with cloth(canvas? and metal(tin) edging strips. A tin bottom and metal locks and handle holders. The hingles have some rust. The leather handles are gone and there isn't any key. The sad part is that while I was taking photos of the tin bottom, the trunk somehow locked itself and I don't have a key. I did check with the local Antique Mall and they had some that were close, but they didn't work. I'm so thankful that I took photos of the inside first! Antique Trunk w/Original Tray Pat'd 1869/1877/1880 - 134 Years Old very Nice!
For sale today is a beautifully restored stagecoach trunk with smooth metal and would look great at the foot of a bed. I found three patent dates on this trunk. Two are on the brass center lock of March 1869 and April 1877 One on the latches of September 1880 which makes this neat old flat top as much as 134 years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the wood bottom is solid. Has multiple coats of clear, three original slats, four original metal wheels and the trunk rolls easily. The two original hinges are HD, tight and the lid closes well. There are 15 plus polished pieces of original hardware. The center lock is polished, has a brass keyhole and there is no key. The mechanical latches are polished, fancy, tight and work well. The original tray remains and the interior has been removed. ... moreThe metal/tin is in VGC. A new metal lid stay has been installed. There are 5 solid oak slats in a golden oak color. New black leather handles were installed with the original end caps. If you are interested in this trunk please make an offer.
