It stands on lovely turned and fluted legs and has a substantial shaped stretcher base. The table will comfortably seat 4, or 6 people if smallish chairs are used. The table measures 120cm long. 89cm wide and the table surface is 77cm high. The table is in very good antique condition. Structurally strong and robust. It does have some scratching and bumps to the table surface, but these only add to the charm and character of the piece, and provide that more rustic feel- very chic! Drop front opening with old lock mechanism and two lower drawers, circa 1830's-1840's, is a rare and wonderful find purchased at an antiques fair in Lyons, France and imported to Charleston,SC by my consignor about 12 years ago and she is now ready to let it go to that right buyer with a special place just for this beauty. This large chest measures 57 inches long by 27 1/2 inches wide by 29 1/2 inches tall. The inside compartment behind the drop front door is 49 inches wide by 24 inches front to back by 16 inches tall, plenty of room for a new brides trousseau and possessions in mid-19th century France. The front has three vertical carved panels above the drawers. also carved on outside edges. All in good condition with a few ring marks on top. Original finish. This was made around 1900 give or take. Looks to be American made. Lots of Quartered Oak used throughout. It measures 35 1/2" Tall. top is 19" Deep by 46 3/4" Wide. The stunning floral carved panels and fluted roman columns give this trunk an elegant air which is balanced by the rustic oak wood which displays the character of its age. This coffer has multiple minor cosmetic repairs, age splits, and dings throughout as you would expect from a piece made in 1800. There is not a key for this trunk, although the lock appears to be functional. The lid opens easily and stays up. Roomy interior. The hinges have been repaired or replaced at some point. But are old hinges and work very well. The locking mechanism appears to function but there is no key. Both sides have plenty of character. You will see several age splits to the sides which do not affect the structural integrity of the piece. Same on the left side. The top has a beautiful grain and color as well as plenty of character. Beautiful antique oak trunk with hand carved ornamentation. Th original finish that was hand polished with 0000 steel wool and pastewax. It has a frame constructed of 7/8" thick oak with oak veneered panels. Bottom outside frame is carved with a nice detail. The medallion under the keyhole is a series of swirls. Flowers and leaves. The black metal strap hinges are stunning. Ball feet are 2 1/4" in diameter. The trunk measures 37" wide x 18 3/4" deep x 19" tall. Inside is 34 1/4" wide x 16 5/8" deep x 15 1/4" tall. There is no key so it's unknown if the lock works— it's marked"Secure 2 Lever" There are some marks from age and the veneer on the top is a little wavy.
