These one-armed parlor chairs were designed specifically for ladies of the time, with lower seats and only one arm, so that it was easier for them sit, and to remove their shoes, without having to bend over too far, and was very useful for them considering the gowns, petticoats, and corsets of the time. The woodwork and carving on this chair is in great condition, particularly considering its age. I am unsure of its exact age, but these types of chairs were made primarily between the mid to late 19th Century. The chair has a sleigh back curve at the top, and gorgeous carved details in the wood.

This trunk is an amazing piece of history. This trunk has a little story behind it. My great grandfather, was the owner of this trunk, I don't know where he got it from, but he was very wealthy, and he owned, a huge mansion, up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, witch is very rare, as 99.9% of folks are poor up there, as there is nothing but trees, and water, he had left the estate to my grandfather, about 40 years ago my grandfather never went back to the estate, he let it become basically codemed or he let it go, and it became un-livable, when my grandfather died the estate went to me I didn't know about it so I went and checked out, and I found this trunk hidden between his closet, and a little trap door in what might have been my great grandfathers master bedroom. 1800S ANTIQUE VICTORIAN STEAMER RARE WALL TRUNK DATED W/LIFT OUT TRAY
Up for consideration is a nice steamer trunk with a lift out tray. It is a Duguid Bros. Wall Trunk from Toledo. Ohio. All hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish for protection. New leather handles were put on. The hinges are dated Dec. 22, 1891. The inside has been tastfully recovered with original lable visable. It is a nice trunk that is sturdy. The measurements are; 30" long x 18" wide x 20" tall. Offered for sale. A"Rare& Extremely Unusual" Late Victorian Antique Oak Jewellery Box. Combined Perfume Tantalus. This Deliciously exquisite and most unusual item is simply a delight. And a genuine curio of the Victorian era. It was clear that a fine lady would need to protect her treasures from potential light fingered servants, however it seems there was also a need to ensure her expensive perfumes were not being surreptitiously dabbed on the neck of the housemaid and it must have been derived from the“Butlers Enemy” the drinks“Tantalus” first shown at the great exhibition, that the idea of combining a version of this with a lockable jewellery box must have come, hence allowing both valuables to be displayed whilst at the same time protecting them from use by the staff. It is unclear when the first of these were made and how ... morewidely they were used and for how long they were popular, clearly nowhere near as widespread in use as their counterpart the drinks Tantalus which is borne out by their rarity today. This example is stunning and in really very nice condition, it consists of four cut glass(probably Bohemian) perfume bottles themselves in lovely condition with only a couple of flea bites on one of the stoppers to fault them. The jewellery box opens at the top with lockable hinged double doors which also secure the bottles in the Tantalus; the doors also have superb bevelled glass panels to allow the jewellery below to be viewed. Inside there are three red leather lined compartments two of which have red leather covered tilt-top covers and are silver embossed with the words in old English script“ Hair Pin s” the central compartment is open. There are a few scuffs and minor age and use related marks to the leather but these are only very much what you would expect, indeed require of a used item of this age. Rare Original 1880's Victorian Half Size Wooden Stage Coach Trunk w/ Liner
A Scarce Antique Victorian Half Trunk In Exceptional condition This Trunk was recently acquired from an estate in Upstate NY This 19th Century Stage coach trunk is crafted of wood(probably pine panels with ash bands) with metal reinforcements at the corners. It is quite unusual in size measuring just 17" at its highest. 16" deep and 16" wide. It retains its original paper covered wooden tray insert as well its original decorative print on the inside of the lid. The Decorative print in the lid depicts a beautiful woman adorned in Victorian style. it is in exceptional condition with no breaks or losses and only enough wear to attest to its age. There are minor dents in the metal at the corners. Some of the paper inside the lid has been worn away as well as the paper covering the insert tray. The finish is quite nice but could ... moreuse a good rub down with furniture polish. It is missing one leather handle on one side as well as the leather straps in the front. Stunning Rare Victorian Rosewood Sewing Table Cabinet Sewing Box

I have had full sized sewing cabinet/writing cabinets before in my collection but never a table cabinet such as this. The rosewood is a very high caliber grain and contrasts well again the mother of pearl inlay on the outside and on the 2 pull our drawers. Th mother of pearl is in good condition. The inside door lids are lined in deep ox blood red leather which has gold decoration. The 2 pull out drawers are smooth and tidy and in good condition. The inside top lid has been weathered a bit with age(150 years old or so) but shows its authenticity. The lid has matching ox blood red and gold border. The rest is lined in sky blue silk. The brass hinges are bright and strong. Comes with what look ... morelike the original key. The lock moves slightly but will not lock. I think this could just need some coaxing. The wood has been cleaned and polished so the rosewood grain looks beautiful especially when contrasting against the interior and inside doors. As can be clearly seen in the pictures. Is in good condition for age with markings commensurate with age of course. 1 side ring handle is missing and can be replaced and i think 1 of the bun feet has been replaced as it is very slightly different than others but this can not be noticed easily. Up for consideration is a rare. Hard to find, Taylor Flat Top Trunk. It has a working lock& key. New leather handles were put on. All wood and hardware has been sealed with a satin finish. The handle holders, on the sides, are dated"Oct. 29, 89" The original brass plate on top reads"Taylor Trunk Works, Chicago New York" It is a very solid trunk that has some nicks and dings of wear, but they add to it's character. With the holiday season soon approaching what a wonderful gift idea it would be to provide that loved one with an antique trunk. This Beautiful Refinished Antique Dome Top Trunk comes with Unique original Lock. Tray, original picture and patent dates. Here at Trunks-n-treasures we take pride in the trunks that we refinish. We have refinished hundreds of trunks, each one with the craftsmanship that we have learned from growing up around our grandparents watching them run and refinish furniture in their antique shop. This particular trunk is a very beautiful. Highly decorated, nice, clean refinished dome top Victorian steamer trunk from the late 1800's. This trunk actually has patent dates still visible on the lock. The picture shows the date October 1871. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we took all the paper off from the inside. ... moreWe then took off the metal to reveal the gorgeous wood. This beautiful trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the paper from the inside, we sanded all the wood and then applied tung oil to it as a finish. After much research we have found that tung oil works best because it replenishes the wood and prevents it from drying out so quickly. The lid on this trunk also has a lid stay to help keep it open. You will also find an original picture on the lid. On this trunk are two new leather Amish handles. The original latches on this beautiful trunk also work to keep the lid secure. The lock for this trunk is very rare. It has two latches on one lock. This is the original. We do not have a key for this but we felt that the value of this lock alone with a patent date is more valuable than replacing with a new lock. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. This trunk was obviously one of the higher class trunks produced at this time. Rare Victorian Leather Covered Jenny Lind "Loaf-of-Bread" Doll Trunk
We came across this Rare Jenny Lind Loaf-of-Bread Doll Trunk a short while ago. Dates probably from 1850-1860. It is 11 1/2" long. 7 1/2" deep and 7 1/2" tall. Covered, except for the bottom in red leather with white painted embellishments, and of course the very obvious brass studding which is characteristic of Jenny Lind trunks. It still has the original lock, but unfortunately is missing the key. Inside there once was a tray/drawer insert. The compartment in the upper part of the trunk retains a small early lithograph of what appears to be a Chalet beside a lake. Possibly indicating a European origin, but not necessarily so since Jenny Lind, the Swedish Nightengale, would have toys such as this reflective of her home no matter where they were made. This trunk is relatively rare in that it retains its original leather covering. ... moreMost of those that come on the market have been stripped and refinished. Overall condition: The leather has darkened in many places. Possibly from some prior owners attempt to treat it with something it didn't like. The brass studs are all present, another unusual circumstance. The leather covering the rear hinges and the fold along that crease is cracked, and missing over one of the hinges. Internally, there is a stain of some kind oin the upper compartment. We believe the hpotos present an accurate picture.
