This antique two-drawer chest has tons of character. The wood looks like oak and has been painted black on the sides and around the drawers on the front. Panelled sides and an overhanging molded top as well as molding at the base. Drawers have intricately designed metal pulls and there are circular wooden escutcheons surrounding the two keyholes. Sorry. No keys! The drawers have been assembled with strong doweled joints. Overall. This piece is in good condition, however there is obvious wear as you can see from the pictures. The front corners of the overhanging top have broken away and there is also damage to the framing of the drawer fronts on both sides. Paint and finishes look original, but have some significant wear to them. There are also some small holes in the top that look like they were made by nails. Up for your consideration is this nice antique French three drawer locking jewelry chest. This wonderful chest has great attention to detail when the inlay was done. The gold gilded ormolu accents include the key hole surrounds and also the door pulls that each hold a different hand painted Sevres style porcelain disc for each pull. This chest is in excellent condition. You can tell the age by the toning of the underside wood. Like you see on the antique shows where you scratch your fingernail on the oxidized wood. It leaves a distinct mark that shows age that cannot be replicated. The only thing I see wrong is that the original key is not present. Just a trip to your local antique co-op should remedy this. The trunk is 45" wide. 24" deep and 21" high. The lid overlaps the trunk. The chest has great paint designs on front, sides and top. The back is not painted. The frame is dovetailed and has iron lock, hinges and handles. There is a small covered box on the inside near the top of one end. This chest shows expected signs of use and age. Nicely crafted, the diminutive chest with single hidden drawer above three drawers fitted with two brass handles and key escutcheon(non-functioning) the lower drawers flanked by full columns on either side. The primary wood and veneers appear to be walnut or a similar hardwood with what appear to be oak and pine/poplar secondary woods. Dimensions: 12.25" high x 17" wide x 9.75" deep. Weight: 11 lbs. Condition: Overall. The chest is in good condition with normal wear consistent with age. Antique Unusual Trunk Blanket Chest "ARK" 1600 Century Style Tenons Pegs Arts
Very unusual 1600 century reproduction of an English"ARK" chest. The trunk chest could easily be confused as an Arts and Crafts chest with hand made construction techniques and exposed tenons and pegs. The blanket chest measures about 36" long x 18" deep x 20 1/2" tall. The tenons extend about 1" additionally on each side. The top and all sides are fastened with through tenons and pegs as pictured. The sides have lapped oak boards and the top has a slight angled"ark" type design. The chest is constructed of solid oak with what appears to be it's original finish. The chest has been cleaned and hand waxed. This is a high quality handcrafted piece. I could almost guarantee you will have the only example of this piece of furniture outside of a museum! Spanish baroque style chest of drawers, 19th century
Antique Spanish walnut and pine chest of drawers. 19th century. The top and front are walnut, the sides are paneled pine. The top two drawers have nice old iron locks, the bottom drawer does not have a lock. This is a very nicely made chest of drawers, with hand dovetailed drawers and a paneled back. The walnut has a nice old patina that walnut gets with age. We do not have a key for the locks. Dimensions, height 35" width 36.5" depth 18.75" The condition is very good, there are old character mars and minor inactive worming.
