Up for sale is this beautiful refinished antique flat top steamer trunk/victorian pirate chest with tray. It measures 28 1/2" long by 18" wide and 11 1/2" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained then sealed with of spar urethane. The interior has been redone with a newer fabric liner at some point in this trunk's history- it has some wear and blemishes but overall it is in very good condition. This trunk is a great decor piece that is functional for storage, hope chest, files, etc. Ask if you have any questions and thank you for looking.

BEST RESTORED ANTIQUE STEAMER TRUNK VALISE VICTORIAN JENNY LIND STAGECOACH CHEST
You would have to look hard to find a better restored origianl Genny Lind stagecoach trunk. This mid 1800s trunk has had a great restoration including new leather straps and buckles on the outside. Lovely quilted interior. And beatiful restoration of the tooled leather covering. And it does not smell! On the interior it still sports the wood restraining flap that would allow you to fill that side of the trunk and then close it without everything falling out. See the last 2 photos Petite size approximately 20" long. 13.5" wide and 9" deep. A kind and knowledgeable ebayer just added this info. the actual name for one of these is a valise. They used to put that on many of the old labels. Such as trunk, valise, and carpet bag manufacturer. condition. Overall a great looking trunbk but it is about 150+ years old. the hinges have ... morebeen replaced and work perfectly. The lock in not functional but it closes fine. Some of the leather is loose, mostly noted on one side. It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side ... morelocking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. This is an antique leather jewelry salesman's steamer trunk with brass locks& fittings. There are 10 divided drawers lined in green velvet. Some of the drawers are missing part of the dividers. There are some tears in the exterior leather and a hole in the leather in the back. The case measures 13.5" wide. 21.75" tall and 8" deep. It weighs about 19 pounds. There is a bit of a musty smell. We have not checked to see if the combination lock is working as as we do not know the combination. The lock is"as is" Other then that it is in overall good condition. This is a nice bright blue steamer trunk. With metal corners, hardware and strapping. I believe the walls, bottom and lid are made of thin plywood with an exterior lining of sheet metal.Measuring about 29½" x 14½" and about 10¼" tall, it has a single leather or faux leather carrying handle on the front, right beside the lock. The inside is lined with paper printed with a wood grain design. I don't know the age of it, but it looks mid twentieth century, doesn't it? I also don't see any sign of manufacturer identification, and no labels to tell where it traveled. It has some surface scuffs and scratches. Especially on the top and bottom, in fact there are some distinct pressure dents around the edge of the lid, as shown in the third picture below. Antique Steamer Trunk, Dome Top, Fully Refinished with tray ca 1885
For your consideration is a ca 1885 dome top steamer trunk. I t has been fully refinished. The originally outside canvas covering and interior paper have been removed to show the beauty of the pine wood. The wood was sanded and refinished with stain and multiple coats of sealer. All hardware is original and in excellent shape. The hinges and lid stay are strong and work properly. All hardware was cleaned and sealed. The lock does not have a key. The leather side handles are new. The bottom is clean. It has the original tray. This trunk 32" wide X 25" high X 19" deep. It has an unusual piece of embossed metal on top. The cost of packing. Antique VICTORIAN Era Monitor Top STEAMER Trunk w/ Wood Slats CONSERVED/Restored
Beautiful Victorian Era Steamer Trunk. This trunk has been conserved or restored. Has had quite a bit of work, but the only thing that has been added& isn't original to this trunk are the leather handles. Everthing else is original to this particular trunk The trunk had 3 coats of paint that were removed from its exterior. Afterward it is was polished witha metal polish, there is still some patina, after 100 plus years it is almost impossible to remove all of that with just cloth and polish lol The paint was light green and off white. In certain places small remnants of the paint may remain. Without damaging the surface of the trunk it is very hard to totally get it all off. Also I think it adds to the already very rustic beautiful charm of the trunk. It is important to note the color variations you see in the pics on the metal ARE ... moreNOT paint. This is actually a pattern in the metal. One the end pieces I think it is patina and discoloration. But the middle piece on lower portion, and next to end pieces on top, I think it is the way the metal is made. It is very beautiful, and seems purposefully placed There is very gorgeous and unique hardware. There are little flower or star shaped medallions on top of trunk and on the front of trunk The wooden slats have been sanded stained and finished The handles were replaced with strips of 100% leather Interior of trunk was stripped of all inside paper. It has been left natural wood so new owner may leave as is. Or finish out to suit their needs best. One of the most unique things about this trunk is the locks on either end of trunk. And latch in center Normally one most I have seen. There will a latch on both ends, and a lock in center, this one is reversed! Large size 36 x 21 inches and 24 inches tall Great size for a coffee table. Tv stand, statement piece for any room, or as blanket chest or for storage very sturdy. Vintage / Antique 1800's STEAMER CHEST TRUNK - Large - Needs restoration
This antique steamer trunk has no identifying information; however. We believe it is from the 1800's. The trunk measures approximately 38" long x 26" high x 22.5" wide when closed. It is a fabric-covered chest with wooden ribbing and what would appear to be additional leather stripping. It also has metal corners and hardware. Our trunk is in need of repair and restoration. The lock is missing and the hinges in the back of the trunk require attention. The top must be held open so it does not fall back. The inside of the trunk shows signs of age and wear. Please look closely at all of our photos and contact us with any questions. We have found no name or identifying information on this item so we do not know who manufactured it. The wallpaper is loose in places, both on the outside, and on the inside, and also missing in a number of places. The interior tray is missing. I have done NO repair or restoration on this trunk. The wood also has a number of splits in it. Lock is original. No key included. Hinges are original, although at least some of the original screws seem to have been replaced with brass ones. Original scissors hinge is missing. The trunk also has a metal band, on the lid, which fits over the lower portion of the trunk, just like the full size ones. My husband and I cleaned out a house and found this old trunk in it. The lock on this old trunk is imprinted with the name Eagle Lock Company. Connecticut Patent Date December 6, 1892. Working lock and key.bonus not many old chests still have a key. Also a hasp& loop has been added later in its long life for more locking options. Internal lid stay still working and present(holds the lid open) Some of the lower back metal no longer wraps underneath rusted away. Brass name plate to front looks blank. Wow. Great old trunk! Late 1800s Seward Trunk& Bag Co. Ladies Saratoga Trunk" Otherwise known as a"Barrel Stave Top" or"Dome Top" This style of trunk is quite often mistakenly referred to as a steamer trunk; steamer trunks are a maximum of 14" tall and flat. A bit rough. Someone removed the lock portion of the main latch. It is an unusual double latch design. The compartment lid inside has broken and been repaired. Corner wear, some surface rust and oxidation. Leather handles broke off and were replaced with some very heavy duty brass handles a long time ago. The brass handles appear to be quite old. One of the cast strap clamps is broken yet all there. There is some damage to the tin clad skin. Original lining is cracked and torn in places. It appears to be all original with the exception of the handles ... moreand has not been painted(painting these trunks takes away from their value significantly) I'm sure I'm missing something so please look at the photos carefully and ask questions! Item is available for preview with appointment. I personally would leave it an unrestored original yet it could be restored bringing its value up. Antique Steamer Trunk* Antique Steamer Trunk measures 32 x 18.5 x 12.5; made of wood covered with canvas. Inside there is a shelf with separate compartment that lifts out. Attached to the inside of the lid there is an envelope style compartment. There is a lock and two latches. The lock does not have a key so we use the latches to secure the truck closed. The fitting right above the lock is missing two of it’s four nails so it loose. There are no leather handles on the trunk. Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Working Lock and Key
Charming Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key Here is a lovely refinished steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 13 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This nice trunk consists of poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in pretty good condition with some typical older distress marks which include nicks and dings mostly concentrated on to the outer slat boards. And a couple of hairline stress cracks in the base wood. This one comes with the original working lock. We have matched up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. The front two latches are original and do work properly since the ... moresprings are intact. The metal parts which make up this trunk are not brass and have there been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing. Someone had drilled small holes in the wood and run rope through these holes to make handles for this trunk. They were rather lousy looking, so we have removed those handles and installed a pair of nice Amish made black leather stitched handles where these rope ones were. These handles are sturdy. Going to the interior, we have removed the paper lining which was worn out looking and finished the wood with two coats of polyurethane. A nice trunk maker's style picture of a Victorian woman standing in a boat on a pond has been added to the underside of the top. The exterior bottom has normal wear and we have finished the bottom to make it overall cleaner. This trunk could be used as a low coffee table, tv/stereo stand, and/or a storage chest anywhere in your home where storage space is needed. This item is a vintage antique woodden hump back steamer trunk. It measures 32"x 16" x 18.5" It is in very good shape. The outside is all original. It still has the original wooden handles. There are a couple of cracks in the top. But they do not take away from the character of the trunk.The inside has been lined with a mint green floral pattern. This trunk is in fairly good overall condition. I am not positive as to when this was made but the hardware is classic late 1800s hardware that i commonly see on a trunk like this. The left side of the trunk on the exterior near the top rim there is a dent with a small hole where something hit the trunk it looks like. This trunk has been authenticated by the curator of the Louis Vuitton exhibition in Paris through emails. It's the real deal! This size is a rare half steamer. Measuring 13.5 inches high. 35.5 in wide, and 19.5 inches in depth. This trunk is about 130 years old, has traveled the oceans, and shows it's wear. It does have some condition issues. Please look at the pictures carefully. The inside is covered in the original blue/white striped ticking, and it has it's original removable tray, very rare to find the tray with the trunk! Also original label from the Paris Exhibition with the dates 1867, 1868. You can see half a serial number on the top of label. There is also a Louis Vuitton stamp on the bottom of trunk. A"W" is painted on both side ends. It is very very rare to find a gray, un-monogrammed trunk, This is a piece ... moreof history! The very first trunk Louis Vuitton made was the Trianon gray canvas steamer introduced in 1858. The trunks were made of waterproof-treated canvas with a wooden frame. Previously. Trunks of the day featured rounded tops to facilitate water run-off. Many other designers of the day imitated Louis Vuitton's Flat Topped Trianon Trunk, so in 1876 he changed the plain gray Trianon design to a striped pattern making it harder for his imitators to copy. We are pleased to offer this very nice. BEAUTIFUL antique VICTORIAN steamer trunk. The chest has a domed top and is wood and metal construction. It features ornate iron hardware and trim and leather side handles. This wonderful trunk has an UNTOUCHED, ORIGINAL INTERIOR. The interior is lined in decoupage fashion. It has 4 compartments that are each defined with a different decoupaged portrait. They lift up(the top compartment lid lowers) for storage but they are not the"lift out" removable type of replacement trays. They are constructed of a heavy cardboard type material and have hooked closing mechanisms. The largest compartment is the lower compartment. It is accessible by lifting the sides of the center compartment. The trunk is very nice and is very much in original condition with very little restoration. This is a ca.1890 antique flat top steamer trunk. It is steel-covered that has been painted black and floral embossed dark green and bound with oak slats. All of the steel hardwear including the brass lock and the latches are original. The leather handles have been replaced. The key is missing. It has fancy embossed slat clamps and two fingered edge clamps. The bottom has four roller wheels. It is 30"x 18.5"x 23"tall and weighs 45 lbs. The interior which is all original and has not been touched. Is fitted with a lidded tray, hat box and three lovely victorian prints. The only part that is missing is the lid for the right hand box. Up for consideration is a very nice victorian trunk. It has a working lock and key. The left lattch. Or hasp, is missing but still closes securely with lock. All hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish for protection. New leather handles were put on. It is a nice trunk that is sturdy. For Auction W e have a beautiful Antique Leather Trunk Suitcase made by the Western Grip& Trunk Company Milwaukee Wisconsin. The trunk measures about 25" long by 12" tall by 8" deep and is in as found uncleaned condition. The leather on the outside of the trunk is in overall good shape. It does have some wear like scratches and tears. The inside of the trunk has it's original cloth liner and tag seen in picture 9. The lid of the trunk and the leather handle are a little loose but overall this is a nice solid antique piece that would look great in your home. Refinished Double Lock Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Two Working Locks and Key Here is the first double lock refinished dome top trunk that we have had in a very long time. This trunk dates back to the late 1800's. Here are the dimensions: from left to right across the front is 36 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 26 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/2 inches. This large dome top is made up of pine base wood, ash or oak outer slat boards, and the dome is made up of early ply. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane. This one has a lot of distress marks which include areas on the wood that are darker in color, probably due to moisture in various places on this trunk. Also there are stress cracks running across the top wood that makes up the dome. There are typical nicks and dings in various ... moreplaces. This particular trunk was a little more weathered when we received it than most of the trunks we refinish. So we did make it as nice as we could, but do want to mention some of the characteristics. This one comes with the two factory original working locks. We have matched up a key that does work in each of the locks. You can lock your personal belongings away from others if you want to. The metal parts making up this trunk are not brass, so we have brush painted the metal by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps and the handle caps have an embossed star on them. You could store a lot of belongings inside this trunk since it is pretty large. It may look nice at the foot of the bed in the bedroom or anywhere in your house where storage space is needed. If you are one who enjoys collecting rustic more primitive style antiques, then this one might be just the right one for you since it is more rustic than most trunks that we refinish.
