This is a late 1800's Antique dome top embossed tin and wood chest. I took several pictures so you can see all sides. The trunks left leather handle had broken off. It is inside the chest. The chest does not shut good enough so you can latch it. At one time. It looked like there was a top shelve to it. Inside, one of the boards are missing that would of held a shelve on. Wow. Great old trunk! Late 1800s Seward Trunk& Bag Co. Ladies Saratoga Trunk" Otherwise known as a"Barrel Stave Top" or"Dome Top" This style of trunk is quite often mistakenly referred to as a steamer trunk; steamer trunks are a maximum of 14" tall and flat. A bit rough. Someone removed the lock portion of the main latch. It is an unusual double latch design. The compartment lid inside has broken and been repaired. Corner wear, some surface rust and oxidation. Leather handles broke off and were replaced with some very heavy duty brass handles a long time ago. The brass handles appear to be quite old. One of the cast strap clamps is broken yet all there. There is some damage to the tin clad skin. Original lining is cracked and torn in places. It appears to be all original with the exception of the handles ... moreand has not been painted(painting these trunks takes away from their value significantly) I'm sure I'm missing something so please look at the photos carefully and ask questions! Item is available for preview with appointment. I personally would leave it an unrestored original yet it could be restored bringing its value up. This would make a great display piece in your store, business or home. It has a covered hat/ glove compartment in the lid. Hardwood slats. The inside of the lid has the 2 original color chromo-lithographs; one depicting a man pushing a wheelbarrow with a woman and 3 children inside and the other is a woman pushing her daughter on a swing with a smaller picture of what appears to be ice skaters. This old chest has great patina. With colors ranging from brass to blueish greens. Interior appears to be older cedar. The back has a round medallion with scalloped edges and the words: Made in England PPB. I've searched this mark but have not found a maker. Antique English Country Chest, Pine, late 18th early 19th
I had to have an English country chest for this spot. I have it in a corner with a TV on the top. It came to me with the cracks you see and hasn't gotten any worse in my house. The drawers work. But not that smooth to pull in and out. It is really pretty and charming. I paid $2000 for it in Kensington at the antique store that imports English chests. It is late 18th early 19th century according to them. The color is very nice, light. If you are interested, bid soon as I will be moving and will sell everything to an estate person or to an auction house.

Rare Unusual Late Victorian Antique Oak Jewellery Box, Combined Perfume Tantalus
Offered for sale. A"Rare& Extremely Unusual" Late Victorian Antique Oak Jewellery Box. Combined Perfume Tantalus. This Deliciously exquisite and most unusual item is simply a delight. And a genuine curio of the Victorian era. It was clear that a fine lady would need to protect her treasures from potential light fingered servants, however it seems there was also a need to ensure her expensive perfumes were not being surreptitiously dabbed on the neck of the housemaid and it must have been derived from the“Butlers Enemy” the drinks“Tantalus” first shown at the great exhibition, that the idea of combining a version of this with a lockable jewellery box must have come, hence allowing both valuables to be displayed whilst at the same time protecting them from use by the staff. It is unclear when the first of these were made and how ... morewidely they were used and for how long they were popular, clearly nowhere near as widespread in use as their counterpart the drinks Tantalus which is borne out by their rarity today. This example is stunning and in really very nice condition, it consists of four cut glass(probably Bohemian) perfume bottles themselves in lovely condition with only a couple of flea bites on one of the stoppers to fault them. The jewellery box opens at the top with lockable hinged double doors which also secure the bottles in the Tantalus; the doors also have superb bevelled glass panels to allow the jewellery below to be viewed. Inside there are three red leather lined compartments two of which have red leather covered tilt-top covers and are silver embossed with the words in old English script“ Hair Pin s” the central compartment is open. There are a few scuffs and minor age and use related marks to the leather but these are only very much what you would expect, indeed require of a used item of this age. There’s a secret drawer“there is always a secret drawer” particularly with the better pieces, this is where you keep the good stuff and is laid out as a bespoke jewellery tray, it is at the bot

1870's Freemason's Uniform trunk. The outside is covered with the"Western Squares" paper. Some small areas where paper is missing or stained. Adds to the look. Inside is also papered and sectioned. The leather carrying strap is missing due to age. Tin hardware. Metal strapping. At the one end of the piece is the original owner's name, I believe. It reads"H.E. Whittenberg-Davenport, PA. Delion measures about 17 inches wide by 14 inches deep and 15.5 inches tall This is a great historical piece that was designed to accommodate extremely fine hat(s)A Delion Chapeliers an important manufacturer and retailer of some of the world's finest hats in the 19th and 20th centuries. There are stamps(glued on paper) documenting the travels all around the trunk- more than I had room to upload photos for also many spot where the other stamps have come off It has the original handle that has come off the top. The handle itself is ripped and the strap that holds it down on one side is also missing. It definitely shows its age and use with discoloration and stains. The top looks as though something were spilled on it raising the finish of the leather? as it feels rough to the ... moretouch. The inside of the trunk is lined. I believe all the tie down straps are intact. You can also see the wear where the inside back hinges are- it still opens and shuts fine but there is break through of the lining and materials. Corners show wear as do the sides throughout the inside and out as this was definitely well used item. The handle is stamped A. DELION. PARIS, 24 BOULd DES CAPUCINES We dated the trunk by the address on the handle. I believe A. Delion operated out of this location at one time. We know that this was before 1905 as the address 24 Blvd des Capucines is one of the 4 Grand Boulevards of Paris so it is well documented. In fact. One of the most famous actresses of the 1800's, Mistinguett lived at that address from 1905-1955 which is how we dated the box to the late 1800's. Inside the trunk is marked DEPOSE which means that registered or copyright so I assume the brand and style of the trunk were registered. Lovely Antique,Primitive Salesman Sample Trunk Or Child's Trunk Late 1800's
I have up for sale today a lovely old trunk. I do not know if it is a salesman sample or a child's trunk. It measures 14 inches across. 8 1/2 inches deep and 10 inches tall at the highest point. It is estimated that this trunk was made in the late 1800's or early 1900's. It's condition is pretty good considering it's age. The original leather handles,usually missing in a trunk so old, is still intact. The interior appears to be all original. Still containing the original tray, something that does not usually survive. Stamped on the tray is"S.A.MAXWELL& Co 2595. I do not have a clue what this means. The hinges are original to the chest. The lock,while missing the snap, has the original key. Probably the best feature of this chest is the lovely old primitive robin egg blue color. It is reminiscent of a day gone ... moreby. Your mind imagines where this chest has been, the hands that handled it and oh, the silent stories it holds. It is hard to describe the condition of this little trunk. The pictures really do not do it justice. The worn wood slats. The patina of the paint, the waves of the metal all contribute to the charm. Please note,as I said before, the lock does not work, even though it has it's original key. I will leave the repair of that to the new owner. Also, I have not cleaned it up, this is the condition it was in when it came out of the attic. I have not set a reserve on this trunk. Antique American Leather over Wood Society Trunk - Late 1800s
Offered- An outstanding Leather over Wood Society Trunk. The trunk is in extremely good condition- with just a couple of minor flaws. The trunk measures 18 inches across- 10 inches wide- and stands 11 1/2 inches tall. Trunks of this nature were widely used during the Victorian era- to hold Society Hats and other paraphernalia associated with that particular Society. This trunk is marked: photo#10) G.O. Gordon Lodi. Wis. Robert Macoy(Cross- 3- Period) I do not know which Society the Cross and 3 represent. The interior of the trunk is Cedar Wood. There is a form to hold the Society Hat- and a drop down inner lid to hold other accessories. There are a couple of cracks in the Cedar lining. There is a label on the inner lid that reads: The M. C. Lilly Company Manufacturers of Military and Society Goods Columbus. Ohio There is also a silver colored ... moreplaque over the lock with the above manufacture noted. The leather on this trunk is a beautiful Amber/Medium Brown color- with a darker brown outline. The stitching is perfect and all of the rivets are 100% intact. There are very heavy duty Black Metal Hinges with a patent date of 1866. The leather is in very good condition- as the photos reflect- with scuffing and/or scraping commensurate with age. The silver colored lock is fully intact however I do not have the key. The lock is marked: Pat. April 1877(Over 2 Stars) The leather handle is perfect. As is the case with trunks of this nature- the straps that connect to the buckles on the front are used and very fragile. They are intact but do have breaks. I have taped the backs for stability. Also- the left front leather loop that holds the top leather strap in place is missing- please see Photo#9. This is a very nice item- I have a couple of these trunks in my personal collection and they are great for storage- perfect for fragile Christmas Decoration. The lid has a connected back with hinges and the lid has arms that pivot to create a larger lipped top. The base has some molding all around to match the lip on the top. The carved and painted crest on the top shows a shield of white with 3 black arrows and a red arrow as well. There is a scroll swag at the bottom. And a goose at the top. There is a small removable tray that measures approx 33 1/2" x 7 1/2" This shabby chic piece looks to have been a lovely blanket chest, made in the late 1800's, that has been turned into a tool chest. It bears all of the character that years of workhorse use impart to a piece like this. There are a few misses in the top, and some collected bumps and dings in the exterior and interior. Antique late 1800's Excelsior steamer trunk. It is in as found condition from an attic in New Bedford. MA. The trunk is a solid piece made up with slats of wood. The top has a slight dome to it. The top section of the lock is missing but there is no damage to the area, it looks as though someone carefully removed it. There is a missing wheel and some loss to the metal strapping. Please view all photos, as they are showing any losses that I have mentioned. It needs some fixing but the overall condition is quite nice for its age. Mahogany Chest with intricate vase and flowers inlay on top. All four legs are hand carved Gryphons. Chest was made to sit in the middle of the room. One side has intricate hand carved drawer faces, the other side has fairly plain faux drawers. This is a truly unique piece of furniture. Was owned by the late Theadora Van Runkle. A self-taught costume designer who earned an Oscar nomination for her first picture, and whose signature outfit for Faye Dunaway’s Bonnie Parker— beret, calf-length skirt and sweater— ignited a fashion trend on the film’s release in 1967. Antique Late 1800's Dome Top Humpback Steamer Trunk Hardwood Slats
A large hump back antique steamer trunk that dates to approximately the late 1800's. It measures 31" long X 20" wide x 27' high(at the highest point in the center of the lid) It's covered with tin and there are attractive hardwood slats that have developed a beautiful patina over the past century. The wood slats and tin are all held in place with brass tacks and very ornate hardware. The wood and metal on this trunk has taken a lot of abuse but these were made to stand up to even the roughest handling and the trunk is still basically nice and sturdy. The trunk used to be lined with paper but it's either been taken off or it's worn off over the years and now it's pretty much just down to bare wood. Which will make it easier to work with when you go to restore it prior to placing linens or blankets in it for ... morestorage. The trunk is nice in dry inside and there are no moth ball odors, just a dry dusty odor that reminds me of the attic in my grandmother's home many many years ago. If you'd like to store things inside most folks like to sand down the interior and then seal it or line it with cedar which eliminates any lingering odors.The hasps on the front do not close tightly because the lid does not fit properly. The leather handles need to be replaced and the original wood tray is missing. The bottom of the trunk has 2 plain hardwood slats running across the edges over black tin and there are 3 small metal wheels on the bottom corners(one is missing and needs to be replaced) these little metal wheels make it easy to move around on any flat hard surface. We are unsure if the lock works properly because there is no key so it will be shipped in the open position. Antique 19th Century Dome Top Chest Steamer Trunk ~ Late 1800's. Rustic. Lock is intact and closes but there is no key. Inside is lined with original fabric. Top Leather Straps are missing but do not take away from the antique look. see photos) This Steamer Trunk has been in my family for a few generations and was handled by the original Los Angels Transfer Company(see cool company sticker on the side of the trunk- notice the 1940's phone number of TRinity 1001) This is a low dome top trunk as opposed to some of the higher domes on the market. Antique PA Blanket Dower's Chest Late 1800's - Painted - w Till - Pick up only!
This is a beautiful antique blanket or dower's chest from Northeast PA. It is painted in the PA Dutch tradition. Has a till inside for favorite or special things. Original key. Very old. Antique Late 1800's Slight Dome Top Steamer Trunk Hardwood Slats
A rather plain antique steamer trunk with a slight dome lid that dates to the late 1800's. It measures approximately 28" long X 17" wide x 22' high(at the highest point in the center of the lid) and it weighs roughly 38# It's covered with tin and there are attractive hardwood slats running across the top. Back and sides. The wood slats and tin are all held in place with both small and large round top tacks and there are rather plain corner protectors on all of the wood. The wood and metal on this trunk has taken a lot of abuse but these were made to stand up to even the roughest handling and the trunk is still basically nice and sturdy. The trunk has an antique chromolithograph on the inside of the lid of and cattails in the background. The trunk is lined with a dull gray colored paper that has mostly peeled away and ... moreand most folks like to remove all of the paper, sand down the interior and then seal the wood, but there are other options, one is to line the entire inside with cedar. Whichever method you choose will eliminate any lingering dusty odors if you plan to use it for storage. The trunk is nice in dry inside and there are no moth ball odors, just a dry dusty odor that reminds me of the attic in my grandmother's home many many years ago. There's a hole visible way down in the bottom of the trunk that appears to be bigger in the photos than it actually is, my husband has determined that there used to be a knot in the wood and it eventually came loose and was probably removed. The funny looking wood all along the back inside bottom of the trunk is not'lumpy' as it appears to be in the photos, it's flat and smooth and most likely the result of another piece of wood with knots in the finish, the entire inside of the trunk is nice and dry. There is no tray and one of the leather handles are missing and will need to be replaced. We do not have a key for the lock and are unsure if the lock even works so it will be shipped open. Antique Late 1800's Traveling Steamer Trunk Vintage Flat Top Steampunk Cunard
Here is an amazing piece of history. This vintage travel trunk has seen many places such as Paris as you can see from all the vintage stickers on it. This was even on a Cunard cruise. It's 32"x19"x21" The lock does not work but the claps still hold the lid down well. It has the interior trays for clothes and other items. The paper inside is coming off the inside but it's still there is you want to restore it. The thick leather straps are in excellent condition for their age and carry well. This trunk is over 100 years old so it does have wear and tear over the years but that just adds to the character of it. It also has small casters on the bottom for easy transport.
