Restored Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk Embossed Metal Oak Slatted c. 1800's
Beautifully restored antique dome-top steamer trunk. Metal sides and top are embossed with an intricate floral design and braced with oak slats. Contrasting black metal covers the corners and edges and is decorated with floral braces at the corners. Metal lock and fasteners and front. Two leather side handles have their original wear and really emphasize the age and history of this piece. The inside of the lid has a charming decoupage design. This piece is both decorative and practical for storage. It most likely dates from the late 1800's This piece has been restored and is in very good condition. There is. However, a small crack on one of the top oak slats. See picture. Also the decoupage shows signs of aging. The entire trunk stands about 18" tall. It is 15.5" wide and 28" long. Antique- late 1800- Dome Top - Embossed Metal Steamer Trunk-Wood Slats
This is a beautiful steamer trunk circa est.1890– 1910 26" x 14" x 17 1/2" The Ribs are wood. The body is covered in alligator embossed metal. The trunk has the original wood tray and leather handles The trunk is in good sturdy shape with a few small chips in the wood tray. It has been repainted a dark rich brown. Antique Steamer Trunk Dome Top Embossed Metal Hardwood Slats
We recently purchased this attractive antique steamer trunk at an estate sale. It has a very slightly domed top and it's covered with embossed metal in a floral design. The trunk still has both of its original leather handles and they seem to be pretty sturdy. It measures approximately 30 1/2" long X 17" wide X 19" high at its highest point near the center. The tray for the inside of the trunk is missing. The hardwood slats on the trunk look to be in good condition and all of the metal and wood on the trunk is all held in place with brass plated tacks. The bottom of the trunk is covered with black metal and 3 hardwood slats that have done a great job of protecting the trunk over the past 100+ years. There are four(4) tiny metal wheels near each corner on the bottom which makes it easier to move around on any hard flat surface. ... moreThe key is missing for the old brass lock and we're not 100% positive that the lock is functional so it will arrive open. There are two(2) hinges on the back that hold the lid securely to the bottom and there are two metal clasps that keep it closed tightly in front, one of these is bent and does not close properly, it will need to be repaired. There is quite a bit of surface rust on all the metal on the outside of the trunk but there is no rust through and there are no holes visible. The inside is clean and dry and it retains its original paper lining. Most folks like to remove the old paper, sand down the interior and then either seal the wood or line the trunk with cedar, this eliminates any lingering musty odors and makes it a nice place to store blankets or seasonal clothing at the end of your bed. Trunks like this are becoming very difficult to find and eventually I'm sure they will be extremely rare. Their uses are many and will only be limited by your imagination. Antique Steamer Trunk with Embossed Metal accents
Wonderful antique steamer trunk from family estate. Was my great-aunt's piece. In very good condition for it's age(late 1800's) This trunk measures 30" W x 15 1/2" D x 19 1/2" H. Bent wooden handles are in great condition and solid. Wood slats have a nice rich patina and metal is embossed with shell pattern and shows no rust. Original rollers on bottom, but at some point, additional rollers added. Trunk sits firmly on these rollers. Interior is in great condition with some peeling wallpaper. I purchased the antique steamer trunk at an Auction in the Atlanta area and the Auctioneer said the trunk was made in the 1800"s. The Antique Trunk is the Steamer style and is wrapped on the outside with metal. I believe it is tin) and trimmed with Oak strips. The Antique Trunk is very nice and you will see the detail when you zoom in. The exterior of trunk has a black, gray and copper color. The Antique Trunk size is:24" tall, 32" long and 19 1/2" wide. This would make a nice piece of practical furniture or a decorative piece.

Antique Victorian Child's Dome Top Steamer Trunk Embossed Metal Hardwood Trim
A pretty antique Victorian style hump back steamer trunk that's in good sound condition. We believe it was used by a child based on the size( 24" long X 15" wide X 17" high at the center) It has curved hardwood slats across the top and hardwood slats across the front, sides and back, there are lots of brass tacks holding the wood in place and the wood has a rich warm patina. The body of the trunk is covered with embossed tin and plain black metal. The leather handles are missing but these are inexpensive and can be purchased any of the trunk restoration sites on-line as well as right here on EBAY. It has two clasps on the front to hold it closed and there's a lock but no key, we are not certain that the lock works so it will arrive open. Two sturdy hinges on the back hold the lid securely in place and the lid fits nice ... moreand snug. The inside is nice and dry and there are the remnants of the old paper that it was lined with here and there. Most folks like to sand down the interior and apply a sealant which eliminates any lingering musty odors, another option is to line it with cedar. The bottom of the trunk is metal covered with three wood runners that have done a fantastic job of protecting the bottom. Near each corner on the bottom is a small metal wheel that makes the trunk easier to move around on any hard flat surface. These antique trunks are not often found in such nice condition, there is very little surface rust and and absolutely no rust through on the metal. A great place to store extra blankets, seasonal clothing, toys, hats& mittens, a display piece for an antique doll collection or antique toys. I once sold a trunk to a grandmother who purchased it to send her grandson off to college!

Up for bid is an antique child's/doll wooden steamer trunk. The trunk is overlaid in embossed painted metal. The interior is covered in paper. The trunk measures 14" x 8 1/2" x 9" high. The handles are intact. Some of the nails are slightly loose especially the ones in the hinges. The locking mechanism is no longer functioning. I am not an expert but this came from a friend's mother's estate and they had quite a few trunks that had been handed down. Beautiful Completely Restored Embossed Metal Antique Toy or Doll Trunk
This Toy trunk is a great size at 14" long. 9" wide, and 10" high. Three wide, grooved hardwood slats on top. Working lock with key, and embossed leather handles. Completely restored interior that duplicates the original design. Now on to the metal. The embossed metal covering has been restored to its original finish. This is NOT Gold paint! The process I used was the same as was done in the late 1800's. The finish is a clear Shellac that has been tinted with Red and Yellow tints derived from the spices Spanish Annatto, and Turmeric. This translucent coating is applied to the polished metal that produces a dramatic and very unique look. Once again this is a level of restoration you will not find from any trunk re-finisher. A Fantasic Domed Trunk from the 1890s. The design is floral with embossed metal. Similiar to this coming from Paris during the same time frame. The hardware is in tact. The only thing missing are the leather side handles which dried off. It is a beautiful Art Nouveau style trunk that would go for thousands if it had the Louis Vuitton markings. Nevertheless. This delightful small trunk came to us from an estate auction out in the country. The outside seems all original but long ago the interior was painted in a cream color and handpainted with leaves and flowers. While we like things to be entirely original. This restoration is just right-nothing fake looking about it. My guess is that the cream color was done 60-70 years ago. There is considerable rust on the lock and the outside metal. Dome top steamer chest/trunk. Bride or wedding trunk, or ship/stagecoach travel trunk. Of wood and metal construction, metal embossed outer layer, wood slat trim, most of the original antique hardware embellishments, a number of the pieces stamped Pat Mar 168(the final number of the patent year didn’t make it onto the hardware, but still indicates the patent dates back to the 1600’s! All the interior compartments are intact. With original linen-type covering over the compartment lids, with original pictorial lithographs and elaborate borders. Original graphic paper lining also intact on the underside of the compartment lids and the bottom section of the trunk– see condition in photos. The spots of discoloration in places may be rust coming through from the metal; bidder to determine. There are 5 compartments in the upper section– two in the ... morelid, and 3 in the top tray which includes one long compartment across the back(try to ignore the glaring blue felt lining in the compartments and bottom of the trunk, but note that I did not lift it to see what’s underneath) Please check all views of the photos for condition of the outer embossed skin/metal/wood(a few dents and splits in the metal but I didn’t see missing sections anywhere) Missing or replaced hardware(looks like a few pieces are missing, the lower front latch may be replaced, leather strap handles replaced and/or missing hardware? maybe some nails/studs replaced– overall minor in my opinion, but I want bidders to review closely and make their own determination) Overall this is in very solid condition, just has the wear and tear and aging of travel and usage. Note that part of one front wheel is missing and needs to be replaced. I didn’t find any markings that would indicate whether it’s from France.
