It looks a bit more impressive than many similar items. Having some grand trimmings, almost armorial. The carvings on the front are very imposing and clearly of some age. This type of carving often surrounded a coat of arms, which may have been removed in years gone by. It also has some lovely brass lion's feet(which really need shining up…they'll look really good when polished! We believe the front of the chest is much old than the rest. It's not uncommon to have wooden furniture rebuilt over the years. Often when they suffer from woodworm or general wear. One of the four rosettes on the front isn't there(I've only just noticed this, after all these years! It's dark wood, so you don't really notice. Up for sale is this beautiful restored large antique victorian roll top steamer trunk with key. It measures 35" long by 22 1/4" wide and 25" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained with minwax"cherry" then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The interior lining has been removed and the wood was sanded then stained. The trunk shows obvious aesthetic signs of age but these details give it the perfect patina and look. The structure of this trunk is solid and it is functional as a coffee table, blanket chest, etc. A great piece with tons of character that will be the focal point of any room. Up for sale is this vintage or antique early 20th century humpback trunk. The front. Back and top have metal panels with a reptile skin texture. The side metal panels are smooth with a blue tint. The humpback top has wood banding. There is metal banding on the edges. It has metal one directional wheels on the bottom. There is extensive patina on the metal and wear on the wood finish. Part of the metal lid strip is missing on the front corner, and the leather handles are missing. It has 2 broken hinges and the inside shows use wear as in soiling, filth, staining. The lid on the insert is detached but is included with the trunk. It has a strong smell of moth balls. The lock does not latch and we do not have the key. However, the other 2 latches do function. 1880's Dome Top Trunk Painted and Great Storage Pirate Chest
Up for auction today we have a very nice refinished antique trunk- dating to the late 1880's- this trunk is wood with tin covered over the wood. The original trunk came to us with drab green metal on the sides and front and top. The back has a marbleized yellow pattern on parts of it. I sanded the wood slats and stained and treated them with Tung oil and polyurethane- they shine and are beautiful. The top I painted hunter green- adding a nice"pop" to the trunk. It is not period by any means. Just cool and colorful. I finished the black metal sides with flat satin black and then polyurethaned the other parts of the metal. We replaced the handles and the trunk is solid- heavy- with the original four small castors on the bottom, making it easy to roll on carpet. Antique Korean storage miniature chest coin ton kwe 19th
This Korean chest is 21 inches wide. 12 inches tall and 12 inches deep. Half of the top lifts up to provide access to the chest. The chest is likely made of pine, but we are not certain about that. The inside of the box is lined on the bottom with old paper. We have the brass lock in the shape of a fish but it does not work readily. The hardware is brass or bronze. There is some wear to the finish on the top. This is likely a coin chest though usually the lid on the top is wider than the one on this chest. The chest dates to the 19 th century. The chest has an age crack on the bottom.

Therefore the chest may be dated sometime during the late 1870's-90's. This storage chest is in very good overall condition for it's age, but the backside of the chest has a split in the wood on the rear left latch. The locks feature a cross style that turn to unlatch the chest. The interior features a variety of styles of paper coverings over the shelf and underside of the lid. This is a solid piece; all metal strapping, corner bindings& hardware is intact. The wood parts of the trunks structure are time worn but intact as well. The YALE lock is intact but there is no key. The two leather side carry straps have long since torn away- easy to replace with an old leather belt. Seldom found are the 2 interior trays that appear to be original to this piece. The top tray(photos#8& 9) has finger-hole lifts at each end; measures 33 1/2 length x 18" width x 4" depth. The tray flap-over lid is secured via 3 hinges on one ... moreside. The other would have been secured via the leather snap straps but again the leather has deteriorated away. The 2nd tray(photo#10) has what appears to be some sort of textile handle-straps to lift it out with; measures 35" length x 13 3/4" width x 7 1/2" deep. The interior of the trunk measures 19 1/2" overall depth. Understand that this truck is close to 100 years old and therefore smells old as well. Both the interior and the exterior of this trunk are genuinely time worn. A beautiful old aged piece as is or restore and make it your own.
