Antique Primitive Pine Lift Top Trunk Painted Green Tool Chest Country Folk
Antique green lift top chest. Classic primitive or country style. It looks like it was made from pine and has a basic six-panel construction. The top is made from three framed boards with a raised piece on top. Iron side handles and a molded base. Paint looks original or at least very old. Interior has sections for holding things in the front and stepped sides to hold boxes up. There are also strips of gathered leather attached to the top that may have been for tools and a cut-out"L" shape that may have held a carpenter's square. So it seems likely that this trunk was probably a tool chest at some point. Trunk probably dates from the late 19th or early 20th century. Overall. This piece is in good condition, however there is obvious wear as you can see from the pictures. There also appears to be some water damage to the finish ... moreand some water stains inside the trunk lid. The H hinges and side handles both show sign of rust, but are in solid condition and sturdy. The chest stands is 18" tall and measures 34.5" long and 22" wide. Old Iron Lock & Key for Antique Pine/Oak Blanket Box/Chest/Trunk/Coffer
Here for sale is an old iron lock with its original working key suitable to use on an old pine blanket box or trunk. It measures 3 1/2 inches wide. 2 1/2 inches high and 3/4 inch depth. The measurement from the top face to the centre of the key is 1 1/4 inch. The key measures 2 5/8 inches long. The main body of the lock housing the workings is 7/16 inch thick. The top face is 3/4 inch. Please note. The receiver isn't the original to the lock. It fits fine but when locked it doesn't lock tight. I have taked a picture of it upside down to show the small gap when locked.

With original lock and hinges. Measures 45" long, 17.5" deep and 14" high. On the bottom left Rear board, there is a small piece broken off. Of No consequence. Approximately 60.000 Germans immigrated to Pennsylvania between 1727 and 1775, many of them toting their belongings in chests. Antique Primitive Pine Sugar Chest with Bracket Feet Lock Americana Trunk Brown
This lovely primitive sugar chest came out of an old house here in Savannah. Georgia. It was found lined with a layer of newspaper dating from 1839-1840, so we are guessing this piece dates to the early part of the 1800s. The actual chest appears to be made from pine, which as far as we can tell is a bit unusual for a sugar chest. The box sides/top are all made from one slab of wood, so it is made from old large timber. The chest has one large deep compartment and then a small drawer in the bottom, each with a lock. We do not have the keys to the locks. It has low, simple bracket feet. The hardware is old, but most likely not the original, as the chest came with one of the original knobs loose inside. The knobs that are on there now are similar to the original. It was also painted with a brown wash at some point. I get most of my items at estate auctions and sell them in an"as found" condition. I do no repairs. Alterations and very little cleaning. This is done in the belief that most buyers prefer to receive them as original as possible. Because the items I sell can come from anywhere. I can't guarantee they all come from smoke free environments. DESCRIPTION: The existing color is mustard but there are several colors underneath. Including a coat of blue and another coat of salmon. One of those two is probably the original color of the chest. It is not a dove-tailed chest but it's tight and sound. It does have damage on one of the corners of the lid(see photos) and there is some evidence that some gouges on the lid were filled at one time, and not an expert job. The piece is old enough that the the hand plane marks can be felt on ... morethe interior. The piece probably is no more recent than the mid 1800's and could be older. It is about 47" in length, 16" in width and about 17 1/4" in height. It comes straight from a farm barn near Odessa, Missouri. The metal handles are original but the hinges are not and do not match. Antique primitive or country blanket chest with bracket feet. Simple six-board construction with an unusual half-moon cutout to create the feet at each end. The lift top is held in place by modern steel H-Hinges and a brass finished rest that keeps it from reclosing unexpectedly. Beautiful aged red wash finish. There are large iron nails holding the chest together that look like they are handmade. This piece is in good condition. Especially considering its age. There is a split to the wood near the back of the lid as well as a little bit of separation at the joints. The nails have also come out of the wood a little bit. There are what look like water marks to the finish as well, including splatter marks on one end. Also note the quality touch of the small round wooden projectiles in the rear to keep the chest from hitting the wall and making the lid difficult to open. There are a few issues as follows(check out the pictures) Someone replaced the hinges with new ones. The bottom trim pieces are chipped at the corners. Circa 1800 Wide Pine Plank Blanket Chest. Missing glove box, but enhanced with a Butternut moulding trim on the lid and skirting. The old milk blue paint makes this a very attractive large dovetailed original chest. The hinges,although correct from that period, are not the original set. The measurements are 18" tall, 20" in width and 46" in length. We are in Central NY, so unless you are willing to pay for crating, the only way to get this chest will be a mutual meeting. We are willing to travel to Albany or Binghamton or Utica areas for pick-up/delivery. If you are planning a visit to the Central NY during the summer months, we would hold the chest until then.

With something this old you'll have to read the pictures to gather your own information. It's structurally sound inside and out. No rotting! The paper and artwork inside are still fully intact. It has a few dings here and there but would be an absolute simple restoration. All parts are original. There is a barely visible engraving on some of the latches that read" PAT. DEC.23.7" The leather handle strap on the left side is missing and the main latch is bent a little bit. But other than that its fully useable. Antique English Country Chest, Pine, late 18th early 19th
I had to have an English country chest for this spot. I have it in a corner with a TV on the top. It came to me with the cracks you see and hasn't gotten any worse in my house. The drawers work. But not that smooth to pull in and out. It is really pretty and charming. I paid $2000 for it in Kensington at the antique store that imports English chests. It is late 18th early 19th century according to them. The color is very nice, light. If you are interested, bid soon as I will be moving and will sell everything to an estate person or to an auction house.

Here for auction is a beautiful pine trunk or fire trunk(so named because people stored their most valued possessions in a trunk so they could take it with them in case of fire) that came from the Bavarian region of Germany. The colors are very vibrant. There is a very large metal forged antique key and lock, and old forged hinges. The trunk is 47" long, 23" front to back, 24" tall, and the pine planks are 7/8 thick. When the lid is lifted, the additional storage drawer seen on the left side measures 4" wide, 3" deep and 20" long. UP for sale we offer a large Antique American Pine Trunk with dovetail construction. This trunk was owned by Tony Orlando(see below) This steamer shipping trunk has a hinged domed lid painted with"Bremen and New York" in black letters. The trunk opens to reveal a small raised compartment on the interior left side. There are some cedar shavings that are still present in the trunk. The large storage piece has its original wrought iron handles and having brass pull and escutcheon to front. The Trunk measures 31"H x 45.75"W x 23.5"D. We put the date to early 1820's to mid 19th century. The Trunk's condition has overall surface wear& scratches. We have not yet waxed this piece and offer it in it's"as found" condition. The box wood surfaces exterior also are Carved, the top of the cover has Initials of" H. L. B. in shallow relief carving with a fancy border around same. The front lower portion of this box has a fine floral design Carved into the surface in shallow carved scooped out or chip carved style. The other exterior surfaces are plain. Up for bid is a great little 19th century antique pine trunk. Originally manufactured in Baltimore. MD, by"Jas. H. Kiningham" at the"Trunk& Bag Manufactory" at 68 N. Gay. St. The trunk, probably originally having either paper or leather that covered the presently refinished pine exterior, is all but gone. Other than a slight bit of dust, this trunk is in fine condition and has all it's original paper liner inside, as well as a hidden compartment in the lid, along with a colorful picture on the door or flap. An original paper label still is intact at the bottom interior of the trunk. The trunk sits on four iron wheels and rolls easily. The shape resembles that of a loaf of bread, so given the name of a"Breadloaf" truck. There is a hasp-like clasp on the front, but no key. Antique Pumpkin Pine 6 board blanket chest
This handsome 6 board Pumpkin Pine chest has hand cut molding around the skirt and breadboard type molding around 3 sides of the cover. The hinges are hand wrought iron'bean' ends with some newer screws used in the 40's. The interior has a till box with a secret drawer under it that would have been used for hiding valuables during 1800's. There is some evidence that this was painted grey originally. But the wood is so beautiful it should have been left unpainted, in my opinion. Length is 49.75" Height is 21" Depth is 20" The hand created dovetail joinery is widely spaced indicating that it is an earlier piece. It has the original hand made lock with key still in it. There is some water staining on the top which can be attended to by the new owner. Pumpkin Pine was without knots. because it was taken from the heartwood of huge diameter trees, no longer found in the. forests. These trees were so huge that very wide 18' 20' 24'etc, boards could be cut from them, thus this chest could be made with six boards of 20" width.
