Antique English Country Chest, Pine, late 18th early 19th
I had to have an English country chest for this spot. I have it in a corner with a TV on the top. It came to me with the cracks you see and hasn't gotten any worse in my house. The drawers work. But not that smooth to pull in and out. It is really pretty and charming. I paid $2000 for it in Kensington at the antique store that imports English chests. It is late 18th early 19th century according to them. The color is very nice, light. If you are interested, bid soon as I will be moving and will sell everything to an estate person or to an auction house.

Beautiful 19th century Dutch or English Hardwood(Teakwood or Mahogany) and brass trunk on stand. Trunk and stand are very solid with wear as would be expected for age. Brass straps in excellent condition with patina. Four brass keys. Locks do not work although one drawer lock turns fine. Trunk seats onto a stand having turned legs and ebony inlays. Dings, and splits No key Lid opens very easily, This beautiful hand carved oak coffer was made in England during the Georgian period. Around 1800. The stunning floral carved panels and fluted roman columns give this trunk an elegant air which is balanced by the rustic oak wood which displays the character of its age. This coffer has multiple minor cosmetic repairs, age splits, and dings throughout as you would expect from a piece made in 1800. There is not a key for this trunk, although the lock appears to be functional. The locking mechanism appears to function but there is no key. Both sides have plenty of character. You will see several age splits to the sides which do not affect the structural integrity of the piece. Same on the left side. The top has a beautiful grain and color as well as plenty of character. This close up will give you an idea of some of the tiny dings present to the top. These carved panels are quite lovely. The right most panel has a small split on the left side right at the edge. Antique 19th cen English Cedar Storage Chest Trunk
This is a really nice 19th cen English cedar chest or trunk. Great for storage and could be used by the base of a bed or as a coffee table. The overall condition is good however it does have some issues. It has a couple of cracks on top. One of the small corner brass straps on the side is missing and the joints in one corner are warped. However, the piece is extremely heavy, well constructed and firm. It is not loose or wobbly. It is very solid and firm. The imperfections do not compromise the look or the function. It is a great piece that with a little waxing would be beautiful. I have seen chests like this in the thousands of dollars. This one is from an estate liquidation and is reflected in the price.
