Each drawer has the 1892 and 1894 patent date on them.The Library Bureau Sole Makers Company was in business from the early 1880s to about 1925.I guess the library in the 1890s had to be the only gateway to the world and the hands that were in these drawers.Very nice old patina and there are a few issues but not major and easily addressed and fixable with low expense.There is a piece along the right rear back panel which is not really visible from the front.A couple drawers have some cracks and one has a piece of the rear panel gone but every issue is repairable and I have not altered or repaired anything so you are dealing with the original item.No screws or glue added but it could use some skill to keep it original.There was tape used on the exterior over the years and those are the shadows you see in the photographs.The shadow of the ring on the top was put there by the original librarian so I had a place to put my coffee cup.It is a really cool piece and soundly built.Another 100 years is no problem with this guy. Estate Find ~ Antique BRASS & WOOD Cabinet Maker's Tool Chest w/Drawer & Trays
Please scan below description to read shipping costs/details ~ thanks Fabulous antique cabinet maker's tool chest measuring 27"wide x 16-1/4" x 14-1/4" high. Hard wood probably oak? You won't find any veneer here this beauty is solid wood. A quality made piece well constructed to serve the maker for many years with three brass hinges to hold the lid. This box has all the pluses, check out the stunning heavy brass trims that decorate every edge for strength and beauty. This chest is about as original as you will ever find complete with drawer, trays that lift out for your drill bits and other small hand tools and room for the hand saw inside the lid. The hefty solid brass handles are built into the chest to lay flush until you pull them out to lift the chest. Both locks are present we do not have any keys. A very solid ... morepiece ready to use or display in your room for extra storage. I am not an expert on items we sell just describing what I see when I look at the piece. Use this as a guideline and follow along with the photos I have taken several at different angles to give you a good look at what you are buying. Condition: Some minor dings in the wood from years of use but NOT abuse. These marks are customary with use over 100 years +. The hinges are firmly in place and hold the lid nicely, the drawer has brass pulls and works as it should opening and closing nicely. The inside may need to be wiped down and cleaned a little we are selling it directly from the workshop! All the brass is solid brass and well attached with NO missing pieces. Lid closes great, inner trays move forward and back to select your tools, they are removable. Some tiny dots of paint are present on the drawer and on the lid but a fine piece of steel wool and wax would probably remove these nicely. See the pics in case I missed anything I have provided several photos taken at every angle to give you a good look ~ it's a beauty you won't find many out there like this one. North Georgia Solid Walnut Corner Sugar Chest / Moonshine Cabinet
You are bidding on a walnut corner sugar chest/ moonshine cabinet that came from an estate in Chickamauga. GA. This chest/ cabinet has been examined by a number of antique dealers and has been described as a corner sugar chest, moonshine cabinet and also as" I haven't ever seen anything like it, hmm! The front and top of the cabinet are walnut with the secondary cabinet framing appearing to be pine and looking at the grain in the two chamfered panels in the back they appear to be cherry. It appears to be original finish and hardware and has square nails in the back. We would welcome any ideas or suggestions as to what you think this chest might be! The chest is 39" high x 21 1/4" down one wall from the corner and 20 3/4" down the other wall, it is 7 3/8" out from the wall on one end and 7 3/4" out on the ... moreother end, the flat front is 19" wide and is 20" deep from the back corner, inside the locking section in the top of the chest is 18 1/4" deep and the door on the bottom cabinet is 18 1/4" wide x 17 3/4" high. It also has an approx. 12" high notch in the short sides to allow it to fit over the large baseboard of the old house, so the top fits flush against the walls and into the corner. There are no holes or marks on the back or the bottom to give the appearance that this cabinet hung or was attached to anything, so I do believe it was built to sit on the floor in the corner originally. The chest is in great shape with no repairs and almost no problems with the finish other than a few stains on the top. Whatever the original intended use for this cabinet was, it is definitely a rare and unusual southern antique that would make a great addition to any house or collection. Vintage antique 19th C. Victorian oak CAMPAIGN TWO DRAWER storage CHEST, CABINET
A very attractive antique 19th Century Victorian oak CAMPAIGN TWO DRAWER CABINET. This was originally a cutlery chest that I have had professionally refitted so as to offer a unique and quite beautiful storage cabinet. On the lid is a fitted brass plaque that is engraved and reads‘PRESENTED TO LIZZIE KIRKMAN. BY HER FATHER& MOTHER, ON HER 21st BIRTHDAY, NOVEMBER 19th 1898’ Each end of the cabinet has brass campaign chest handles that are fitted flush and have their original screws and are in very good order. When you lift the lid you are met by a deep storage area fitted out in dark green baize. The attractive and original campaign fold away brass hinges, brass corner plates and brass pin location plates are all in good order and condition. There is a label with a registered number on that reads‘RD. NO. 278968’ When the lid is opened ... morethe fitted brass pins, at the front, that fit in to the tops of the front panels rise thus allowing you to open up the two front panels that close against and secure the drawers. The two drawers have also been refitted in dark green baize therefore making them a lot more useful than when they were fitted out to hold cutlery. Both drawers have there original brass handles. A really attractive and very well made Victorian chest that makes for a beautiful storage cabinet for anything, collections, jewelry etc. The cabinet itself measures 19” long by 13 1/2” wide by 9” high. The bottom drawer is 3” deep, the top drawer is 1 1/2” deep and the top including the inside of the lid offers 2” in storage depth. Wooden worm gear, attached to a steel blade in a nickle plated metal housing with a spring tension crank. One small oak ball foot on the right side is missing. There is a split on the top as shown, and we have no lid for the opening. Otherwise. In original working condition. My research turned up absolutely nothing on this piece so I don't even know i f the lid was tin. Wood, ceramic, etc?
