Antique dome top style miniature trunk. The small trunk may have been a child's doll trunk or possibly a salesman's sample. The brass lock has patent dates of March 69 and April 77. The circa 1877 trunk measures about 15 1/2" long x 10" wide x 12 1/2" tall. As pictured. The trunk has the original leather handles and interior tray. The exterior of the trunk has stamped metal with flower designs. The antique trunk is in original condition with leather intact handles and rollers on the bottom. No rust through was found on the metal. The interior paper has wear and the tray has old inactive insect damage. There is no other insect damage to the trunk. Only the back side of the tray. It has a nice form and it dates to the 19th century- the turned knobs look like 1860s. But there are old wire nails so maybe 1880s. The drawers are nicely dovetailed. Note the interesting case with the bottom drawer; a lock installation was started but never finished, and I believe this was absolutely original to the piece when constructed. The piece measures 10 3/4 inches tall and 10 3/8 inches wide across the top. The dresser is in good antique condition. The old finish looks original. As shown in the pictures. This is a salesman's sample. Child's or doll sized steamer trunk. I believe the Corbin lock was made between 1890-1905, so I suspect the trunk is about that age as well. The trunk and hardware are the same quality as a full-sized steamer trunk. Consequently, it is strong and sturdy for its size. The trunk is 20.25"W, 12.75"H, and 11"D. The leather side handles are gone, and there are losses to the leather trim and green coloration. I also believe there used to be a tray that fit in the interior. Additionally, the key is missing so the center latch does not operate. These keys can be replaced with the lock's information. The interior appears quite clean. Hello, Today I am offering an antique child's dome top trunk. I was told it is circa 1880s. It is a beautiful combination of black and silver. With a lovely star pattern. The inside is covered with antique wallpaper. It comes with the original tray. It is 14 inches long, almost 8 inches wide, and 8 3/4 inches at the tallest point. This trunk is super tiny and can fit into almost any space! Unfortunately. Due to the age of this piece, it does have a few flaws. It has dings, dents, and scratches. There is a small gap on the top between the tin and the wood, it is featured in the 7th photo. Two of the little slat clamps are broken on the end, and one is bent. One of the brackets on the inside isn't level and causes the tray to be a bit tilted. Also, I do not have the key. Buy it now or make me an offer! If you have any questions. It measures approximately 16 inches across the front and 9.5 inches across the side and approximately 10.25 inches tall at its highest point. It is not flat on top but is slightly domed(see pics) The lid closes and it is aligned. The hinges attached to the lid are firm. There is no key. The tray is missing. The leather handles on the side are missing. The inside of the trunk smells like wood and not mildew or mustiness. For your bidding consideration today. We have a rare antique child or doll size antique steamer trunk, just like the big ones! The trunk is made of wood, with a tweed looking covering on the outside. This trunk stands up like the larger ones,with drawers on one side, and the opposite side has the lift top,with a hanging bar underneath. It has a center lock, and two side closures. The center lock is marked USA EXCELSIOR STANFORD CONN. The drawers have wood sides, and I think heavy cardboard on the front, back and bottom. They have a leather pull on each drawer. It is rare to see a trunk made this way in this size. The piece measures 22" tall, and 10.5" wide and deep. There are some spots, on the bottom if you had the piece standing up, on the outside and inside, maybe water damage, I don't know. There is scattered spots on the ... morehe outside, and I have not attempted to clean them. There is some rust on the hinges, and bumped corners that show the wood, and the leather handle at the top is missing. All in all, a very nice collectible that would be great in a children's room, or could be used for a doll display. It weighs almost 10 pounds before packing. Antique Child's Steamer Trunk or doll trunk dome camel top small trunk
This little steamer trunk is wood and metal and was likely for a child who wanted one just like his/her parents had. The finish is military army green. The top is the wonderful curved camel-back style. It is metal finished on all edges and affixed with what I believe are brass tacks. And there is metal strapping all around, as well. There are also strips of wood affixed with, again, what I believe are brass tacks and metal corners(all of which are present, and also tacked) The side handle hardware is still present, but the leather that was likely between them is gone. Also, the movable metal pieces that would have gone over the latches are no longer present. The center lock appears to be intact but bent. And there is no key. It appears that there was a shelf inside at one time, but it is no longer present. The hinges work fine. There is a ... morepicture inside the lid of a boy and girl on a wharf. The boy is wearing a striped middy blouse and what appears to be knickers although from his sitting position it is hard to be certain. There is wear to the finish and light stains inside. There is a strip of fabric attached inside which has a name woven in it, likely the maker's name, but I cannot make out what it says(see last picture) On the outside, one side is stenciled Wash, D.C. and the other side is stenciled A.D.L. Jenny Lind Antique Child-Size Stagecoach Trunk ~ Salesman Sample Doll Furniture
On offer is this antique child or doll-size Jenny Lind stagecoach trunk. In the classic hourglass or"loaf of bread" shape, measuring 12" x 7¼" The box looks like pine wood and is in good solid condition. The leather banding is in fair condition. But looks quite aged and crackled, with some small sections missing(see photos) The hinges are good. There is no inside tray. This style of trunk is named after Jenny Lind. The"Swedish Nightingale, an opera singer who became a superstar first in Europe, and then toured America with P.T. Barnum in the 1850s, sparking a craze rivaling that of Elvis and the Beatles a century later. Furniture, household items, a ship, a type of locomotive, schools, streets. This small size steamer trunk measures 14 1/2" wide by 10 1/4" high x 9 1/2" deep. It is constructed of wood slats with leather edges and brass corner accents. One piece of wood on the bottom appears to have been replaced. Some of the leather is very worn and cracked with some losses. The interior is stained and there is no tray. The lock is functional though the key we will send along is probably not original and requires some jiggling to get it to work. Leather handles are both intact but may have been replaced or reinforced at some point(notice the phillips head screws) May have been for a child or for doll clothes or possibly originally intended for shoes or"unmentionables" Very cool. 1800's Antique Wooden Doll Child's Trunk Chest Salesman Sample Removable Tray For your consideration is an 1800's Antique Wooden Doll Child's Trunk Chest or Salesman Sample Square Design Removable Tray. This doll chest is in good condition. It has definate aged appearance and patina. There are two areas on the inside where the wood is split to the outside(one on the top and one on the inside backing) scratches and faded areas of original black decorative decor. The bottom has a couple nails sticking out. There is rusting on the decorative brass fixtures. There is some fraying of the wood in various areas and some holes that do not protrude to the outside of the box. There are handles on either side of the box. It appears that the tray and handles were added and are not original to the chest. Very nice and decorative detail ... moreand appeal. Inside original interior paper is mostly gone. Fabulous 1800's Antique Doll or Child's trunk. In great shape for it's age- very sound structure and no mildew or musty smell. Measures in inches approximately: 9.75 D X 16 W X 11.5 H. Has been in my family since the early 1970's. Features: Small wooden chest of square design with lovely red/brown lithograph paper bearing beautiful designs. Inside there is a removable. 2 compartment top tray. Tray rails are solid and existing. Tray fits firmly and is supported. All metal stays are solid and in place. Paper covering is original. No mildew or musty smells. Metal features are not damaged nor bent. Lid closes firm and completely aligned. Hinge tight. Straight and completely aligned. Inside. Hinge to keep lid from closing unexpectedly(I have not confirmed if hinge locks fully extended, but the lid holds itself up just fine with ... morethe hinge nearly extended to full position) Noteable known defects- see pictures. Leather side handles are missing. Water stains at the bottom. But no water damage inside Some missing paper at edges. Some edges and a section on top. Crack on top of lid and another one on one side. Depression in front side of tray. About the size of a finger. Edge wear. Including an exposed nail. No key- have not tried to latch the lock. Note: A long time ago a piece of paper covering. The size of a nickel came off and was stored inside the chest. I don't know where it came off from. It's included in case you wish to mend it somewhere. !!!REDUCED!!! UNIQUE TARTAN PLAID Antique Toy/Child's/Doll Trunk - RESTORED!!!
Up for bid is a UNIQUE. Antique, Tartan Plaid, Toy/Child's/Doll Trunk- FULLY RESTORED and ready to display your treasures! Measurements: 8" length- 4" height- 4" width.TINY! I felt that the only way to restore this tiny trunk and keep it's unique. Dramatic tartan style/personality was to replace the tartan plaid exterior instead of just removing it. The original personality would have been lost forever and there are less and less of these darling little tartan covered trunks left to enjoy. It took a lot of shopping to find a tartan plaid with similar bright colors found in the original paper. I was unable to find material that matched the purple print within the trunk. However, I did find a blotchy tea colored material that looks old and stained like the original. Please look at all the pictures provided to see that ... morethis trunk is now strong. Functional, and striking with its Tartan personality! I adore this little trunk, however, I will be the first to say that it is NOT PERFECT and never was; which is part of its charm.=) Now look at the two pictures of its before restoration condition(more pictures are available upon request) The lid was/is not square and does not sit correctly on top of the trunk. To make matters worse, the latch was not centered and in addition, the two parts of the latch were not lined up properly. The consequences were that one of the hinges had undue pressure put on it until the wood/hinge broke off. The wood had to be reinforced and the hinges reinstalled with clinch nails to repair the damage. The repair was made to coordinate with the style of the trunk with its red painted trunk slats and red tray supports. The hinges have added support from the two, lid stay straps too. We want those tiny hinges to last as long as possible and two lid straps instead of one will help support the hinges. Please see pics. The latch also had to be removed and reattached with clinch nails. Latching the trunk will no longer twist the trunk lid and cause the hinges/wood to break. I con
