Legs are sturdy design, have a low center of gravity, with all the original hardware including the original solid glass spacers and brass fittings. Put your cherub lamps on top or any lamp that is. Lower level for everything else you want by your side. Safe assembly takes about 10-15 minutes each table if you do it alone, I recommend that you assemble upside down no matter how you do it. Own a Piece of American History Today! This trunk is over 100 years old! FREE SHIP ANTIQUE METAL BARREL STAVE DOME TOP TRUNK WITH WOOD SLATS(163-66) With Measurements: 35"w x 21"d x 28"h Dome Top Trunks 1870-1920 Built in many sizes and styles. They generally have a curved top that slopes in both directions and built using a variety of construction methods including molded ply and barrel construction among others. Within this style of trunks are a few other names that have come about based on the positioning of the wood slates that cover the dome construction. The exact origin of these names is unknown but seem reasonable and listed below as I understand them. Barrel Stave Trunks(1860-1885) they generally date a bit earlier than most of the dome tops made and have horizontal running slats instead of vertical(end to end vs. ... moreover the top) Giving it a slightly different look. The word"stave" in this case refers to the wood slats. These trunks were mostly made from the late 1860's until about the mid 1880s when the other dome construction methods listed below became more widely used. Often early examples of this style have a graceful. Well proportioned look and the later examples into the 1870's are quite simply well made. This trunk is in good condition. Obviously it will show wear marks from age as it is over 100 years old. No rotted metal or holes present. Aren't you just drawn to these old trunks?To me. They represent a much simpler time in this country. It's that emotional connection that makes them so appealing to collectors, and will only increase the value of the piece in time. I have done my best to describe this piece. It is very old and will contain the usual wear marks of typical everyday use and travel. It's actually very appealing to show the wear.tells a great story of all the years this trunk has seen! It's my opinion that you will be very happy with this piece. It is believed that the round tops were made for those who wanted to try to have their trunk packed on the top of baggage cars, so they would not be damaged. This trunk is in good condition. Please scan below description to read shipping fees/details ~ thanks Take a look at this interesting little antique trunk shaped like a bolster pillow or log. Measuring approx. 17" long x 8-1/4" x 7-5/8" tall. Complete with original lock, handle at the top for carrying and remnants of newspapers inside. This trunk looks like someone was starting to restore it. From my research, these trunks usually have hide skin or leather on the outside. The trend is to refinish them because the pine wood underneath is a beautiful pumpkin pin color dating from 1790 to 1830 these little roll trunks are quite hard to find. You will see in the photo that I have all the fixings to finish this beautiful trunk. Leave it as it is or add the extras to dress it up! The leather bands that go around the edges and a bottle full of brass prong tacks. ... moreThese are the same tacks on the trunk now so it should be a fun weekend project. Condition is very good for its age. The lock is original to the trunk. The wood has some tiny expansions where the pieces join which is common for wood to dry and separate. Keep in mind this trunk is 200 years old! There are no big uglies, no missing chunks, the piece is solid. I am not an expert on items we sell I only describe what I see to help you when you view the photos. It is my opinion that the brass hinges are not original but they open and close the trunk good and they look okay. The inside has remnants of antique newspaper. The bottom of the trunk is rougher wood and not finished. The finish is clean, there is no glue residue left on the trunk from the hide covering. All in all this has a lot of potential ~ take a look. Amazing Antique Round Top Trunk
We are offering an 1870’s. Round Top Trunk. The trunk measures, 30" length x 18" height and 15" width. This fabulous trunk is covered in Western Square Style paper. The inner lining is paper as well. The Wood Slats on the top of the trunk and front appear to be Oak. The bottom slats and construction wood appear to be poplar and the handles are wood as well. The lock latch looks to be hand forged. The nails are round/oval head square shaft. This is visible in the picture of the lid lock hardware, they were driven thru and clinched on the outside. For your consideration is a beautiful anti que round top Civil War era trunk. It is also known as a stagecoach trunk. Based on the lock. The hand forged iron handles and the hand forged nails I believe this trunk dates to 1850-1860. Also please notice the quality. Unusual, hand cut. Dove tailed corners. This trunk is made from six solid pine boards. All sides, top, and bottom are made of a single wide pine board. The top has a couple of small cracks due to the wood losing its moisture over its 150+ years of life. It comes with a working lock but missing the key. Rare and Rustic. Antique Hide Covered Round Top Trunk- 1831! This amazing trunk dates back to when Andrew Jackson was president of the United States! Trunk is lined with newspaper from the Christian Intelligencer( April. 1831) The Christian Intelligencer was in publication between 1830 and 1920. It was printed and published in New York for an association of members of the Protestant Reformed Dutch Church. The trunk is highly adorned with brass nail heads. Steel plates and various types of leather. Hand forged iron handles on each end and a nice simple lock show off some serious craftsmanship. An old gouge repair is seen above the lock which was sewn with sinew. Condition is very good for the age and unbelievable journey this item has traveled. Uncertain what wood this is. Lid is still very straight with no major bowing or warping. Much of ... morethe soft. Deerskin hide has worn off, though some is still present in places. Unfortunately, the hide on this trunk has been peeled off, cut and removed in places. At one time the large brass nails spelled out the owners initials on the lid: SB" The hide is missing from the following areas: top middle section. the entire back and right side and the lower left side. We are guessing someone was looking to refurbish it many years ago? That is why these trunks are so rare. the ugly ducklings of history that get lost forever. There are no keys for the unmarked lock. The right front edge of the lid has split away slightly. Hinges were made of leather( present but long broken) Please see our pictures for more information on detail and condition. The newspaper articles are fascinating with articles about ship sinkings. West Point court martials and the Cholera outbreak beginning to kill the Iroquois in Ohio. We are selling an antique pine trunk/ chest in its original condition.This trunk dates to about 1870s and still in good condition.There are five large dovetail joints on all corners. The cast iron handles are in very good condition. The end board on one side is a solid 13" wide plank. The pine boards are all old growth wood. The bottom planks have a few cracks in them as the pictures show. There are normal age wear nicks and bumps and dings. The size is 34" long. 16 1/2" wide and 19 1/2" tall. The lock is gone. Antique Curved Leather Top Saratoga Trunk Offering you beautiful curved Dome top trunk. This trunk once was quite an expensive beauty. The curved top. Plentiful nails and amazing-fine hardware makes this a high-end piece, often known as a Saratoga Trunk. The reason for the curved top is to ensure that this trunk would go on the top of the stack. Rather than having trunks stacked on top of it, damaging the contents. I have not altered or refinished this trunk. I purchased it from a lady who stated it was in the stable area of her very old, victorian home. The home was built in the early 1900's. INSIDE: I believe it is constructed of Pine with a floral paper design. Which means this trunk belonged to a Woman. OUTSIDE: Has a dark metal/tin tone. 4) wooden, Elm? vertical slats on the dome top, 2) horizontal wooden slats on the front& ... moreback, 1) wooden slat on each side. There is a 16" wide(wooden slats divide the leather area) Leather type Alligator design area on the top that extends down the front and back and along both sides. Antique Stagecoach Trunk, Hide Covered, Round Top, ca 1816
For your consideration is an antique. Small stagecoach trunk or large document box. This trunk dates to 1816 based on the newspaper covering the interior. The trunk has its original hide covering. Lock, leather hinges and forged metal side handles. It is in very good condition for nearly 200 years old. This smaller trunk measures 20 1/2" wide X 10" deep X 9" high. Antique Zinc-embossed round top trunk 1877 - 1882
Completely refinished zinc-embossed antique round top steamer trunk. Trunk is in excellent condition with original hardware and leather handles. EXTREMELY RARE round locking hinges on front of trunk(see pictures) Hinges are stamped"Pat. July 26. 1877" so trunk was most likely manufactured sometime between 1877 and 1882. Antique Round Top Steamer Trunk circa 1885
Refinished antique round top steamer trunk circa 1885. Trunk is finished in satin black and deep maroon with dark oak wood trim. Inside tray has been replaced. As have both of the leather trunk handles. All of the metal hardware is original. Excellent condition-would make a terrific blanket chest or a wonderful toy chest for the child that has everything! Antique Kauffmann Kauffman Style Small Painted Dec. Half Round / Demi Lune Chest
This is a nice antique Kauffmann/ Kauffman style small half round/ demi lune chest with painted decoration including a distressed look. In pretty nice shape as the pics show with some minor wear/ imperfections from age& use as shown in the last few pics with some rings and it comes exactly as shown. Antique Round Wooden Stagecoach Trunk Brass Gold Rush Era Travel Chest Vintage
For consideration is an antique wood trunk in good condition. The trunk is embellished with square shank brass studs and is lined with a Boston paper(Gleason's Pictorial Drawing Room Companion) that is dated 1851. The former owner(an elderly woman in Southern NH) said that it was in her family as long as she could remember. Though she couldn't give additional concrete details. Her grandfather had gone to California during the gold rush, but she couldn't be sure this trunk belonged to him. On top of the trunk are the initials"B.B. Their last name starts with a"B" but her grandfather's first name didn't start with"B. She kept it in back of her rocking chair. Which is why there are scratches on the right side of the trunk. There are some holes that appear to have had brass tacks in them at some point, ... morebut they don't line up with the tacks that are currently there. It looks like someone may have taken the original tacks off and put these on. I'm wondering if there was an early refinishing of the trunk which may have required the tacks to be removed and then replaced. You'll notice that there are missing tacks on the front near the latch and one missing on top of the trunk. There are very old pads on the bottom of the trunk. Most of the hardware appears original. One of the hinges on the back is still attached entirely with old rose head nails. There are several newer(but still old) screws that have been used in repairing or reinforcing the trunk and its hardware. The wrought iron handles are period. The trunk has a nice honey color. The interior is heavily soiled and I didn't attempt to clean it as I wanted to preserve the paper lining. It's approximately 24" wide by 12" in diameter. Antique Dutch Marquetry 6 Drawer Tallboy Chest Inlayed Full Round Columns This Dutch marquetry tall chest is a true work of art. Both the front and the sides are intricately detailed in flower and bird motif inlay workmanship. All of the original drawer pulls and locks are present. It measures 41 inches wide. 59 inches tall, and 21 inches deep. Each of the 31 inch tall full round columns adorning the front of the chest are inlaid with the same floral motif. The drawers all have nice, thick bottoms with hand chamfered edges. The drawers all slide nicely and some of the slide rails have been professionally restored. The inlay appears to be 99% or more intact. There is A low percentage of veneer loss. Mostly around the drawer edges. The pulls have twisted somewhat over the decades of use.
