Antique Blanket Chest with 2 drawers ~ red paint ~ fish tail hinges ~ 32" tall
Description This is a large antique blanket chest with 2 drawers. It is all hand dovetailed. It came out of an estate in Pennsylvania. The chest has red paint however someone removed the paint from the lid. It has the original fish tail hinges. One hinge does have a crack at the bend but still works. The inside is clean. The original till is in very good condition however there is a black stain on one side of the bottom. The 2 lower drawers are in very good condition and have sandwich glass pulls. Which may be original. One pull has a large chip and the other one has a small chip. The drawers are hand dovetailed with chamfered bottoms. The feet have extra nails coming from the top, probably to secure them over the years. The chest has the smell of mothballs due to an old box found in one of the drawers. It will need airing out. This is an original blanket chest from the Amish country of Berks County Pennsylvania. I got it from an old man who was breaking up his home and down sizing. He said it belonged to his grandmother and he was in his 70's. It is in great condition with crackle paint. Quarter round around the lid. The lid hinges are perfect, the drawers tight and clean. Antique Rustic Pennsylvania Americana Two Drawer Tall Blanket Chest Handcrafted
Antique rustic and handcrafted American two drawer blanket chest Pennsylvania style. The piece is made of a solid and heavy hard wood(I cannot make out what kind of wood) The drawers have dovetail construction with the inside wood being pine. MEASUREMENTS: The blanket chest measures 38 inches tall 40 inches wide and 18-1/2 inches deep. LET’S TALK CONDITION: Fine antique condition with a wonderful patina. The lid has some old stains the hinges have been replaced. There are no cracks no chips all the joints are tight and firm there are some old dings. The drawers have reinforced guides and the drawer pulls are antique but not original to the piece. This beautiful chest features gadrooned edging around the top and bottom. The drawers are serpentine shaped. Full columns with scrolled capitals flank the drawers on either side. Claw feet support the front of the chest. In excellent condition. Solid and sturdy, there is some veneer chipping around the drawers as is normal with a piece of this age. Tall Mahogany Victorian Lock-side Chest with Gallery& Fancy Brass Pulls c1870's Being offered for sale is this Tall Victorian Mahogany Lock-side chest with Gallery and fancy brass pulls circa 1870's. This fine 19th century chest appears to have its original finish and original fancy brass pulls with period dove-tailed joinery on the drawer ends. The gallery features fantastic carvings and details and accents this tall chest beautifully. The drawers have a maple interior with the top drawer having divided compartments for organization. This chest has chamfered back panels and casters intact on the base. The lock is missing on the lock-side portion. But the lock is intact on the top drawer but we do not have the key. This chest is very well made, tight and solid and in wonderful antique condition, There is a chip to the top right ... moreside of the gallery and a sliver of wood missing on that same side right below the gallery on the back-side of the chest up under the top portion.nothing distracting from the beauty of this chest in my opinion but wanted to point them out. Bellport Jewelers& Rarities 631-286-7700 Description. A beautiful mahogany 5 drawer chest with an inlaid top and corners. Measuring 43 inches tall by 20inches deep by 42 inches wide. The inlaid details and top are stunning and overall I would say the piece is in fine condition. Despite the following issues the piece is still gorgeous. There is a small piece in the top inlay that is chipped and there is a significant scratch on the top as well as a long crack from age- note that it appears much larger since I am enlarging the photos. Some of the drawers have evidence of minor repairs(you can see a few drawers with newer wood glue remnant) Original bronze ornate pulls. Scalloped bottom. It is in a climate controlled storage unit and the lighting is poor. Please inquire about freight shipping or local pick up. Note the hue of the photos ... morethat appear more reddish is the correct color.
