This is a very clean large oak trunk that has a variety of uses such as a blanket chest. Toy chest, or wonderful coffee table. It is made of solid oak with the original finish that has a nice patina and is finished on all sides including the back. The inside of the trunk has been painted red but can be stripped back to the natural oak. The trunk is 48" wide, 22" deep, and 24 1/2" tall. There is a piano hinge that opens the top. There is a lock but I do not have the key. The trunk was originally on rollers. One of the blocks under the trunk that holds the roller insert is damaged but is easily repairable if rollers are prefered. Email with any questions. Rare Antique Iron Bound Wooden Traveling Trunk - Mid 19th Century - Coffee Table
This is a rare 19th century wooden trunk in wonderful condition. This wooden trunk has a rich. Dark hue and is bound with iron straps. The rich patina and rivets attest to the age of the trunk. The hand forged handles on each end of the trunk are in perfect condition. The heavy iron hinges and latches are reminiscent of medieval iron pieces. The interior of the trunk is in very nice condition and features fine natural wood. This trunk is still in spectacular condition because it was built by skilled craftsmen. It remains a strong and sturdy piece and has no real damage of any kind. It measures 49 1/2" long x 28 1/2" wide x 20" high. Up for sale is this beautiful restored antique victorian flat top low profile steamer trunk with working key. It measures 34 1/2" long by 20" wide and 12 1/2" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained with minwax"cherry" then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The interior lining has been removed and the wood was sanded then stained. The Trunk shows obvious aesthetic signs of age but these details give it the perfect patina and look. The structure of this trunk is solid and it is very functional as a coffee table, blanket chest, etc. A great piece with tons of character that will be the focal point of any room. This gorgeous antique mahogany coffee table measures 30-3/8" in length. 20-1/2" in depth, and 20-1/2" in height. Height of pie crust edge is 3/8" Just discovered a minor imperfection underneath table-it appears to have had a flaw because there is a small amount of putty) The carving is magnificent. It has metal leg caps. It has the logo on the bottom of Landstrom Furniture Company, Rockford, Illinois, 1879 accompanied by a small trojan mark which is partly scratched off, but readable.

It retains all its Original Snap Closures and even the Old Locking Mechanism but it did not have a key. Inside the Trunk has a Wardrobe side on the Left for hanging formal clothes as would have been the case in Victorian times. The wardrobe side even has its Original Wooden Hangers that are built right in and an ingenious Slide Bar so you can decrease the area as the size of your clothing dictates. Below the wardrobe is a fold down box which we assume was for shoes. To the Right is a 4 Drawer Dresser with Drawers for even more storage. The drawers are all relatively narrow given the trunk's size but they are all Extra Deep! Outside. The trunk has a Black Leather like outer surface with Big Metal Corner Protectors on all Corners and all the Protectors are Intact! The black outer surface has some wear as would be expected but given the 100+ age of the trunk, it really is not bad at all. The leather is super thick and the trunk is reinforced at every corner and edge. Big brass studs and buckles accent the piece. Even the bottom of the case is studded in brass. I would think it's possibly English. But the there are no identifying marks to be found. Measurements are 40" x 23" x 14" high. The condition is excellent. Patina is excellent. I actually just refinished the inside by removing the old paper mounted within and then primed it with Kilz Paint and then painted the inside with a warm cream color. It has a removable inside shelf with two dividers( one divider is removable) It measures 36 1/4" long. 21 1/4" deep and 12 1/4" high. The removable inside shelf is 4" tall. It is super clean inside as you can tell by the pictures. It dose not have a key. The two side latches keep it closed up tight.
