Chest has very nice carved feet front and back with bowed top as well as bowed front. It measures approx 22" tall including swivel mirror. 12 1/4" wide at feet, and 9" deep at feet and has 2 small drawers at top and l larger drawer at bottom. Mirror is in fine condition. The small drawers each measure approx 5 3/8" x 4" x 2 1/2" deep. The one on the right has a smaller pull than the others but it appears to have been put on at the same time. Bottom drawer measures approx 9 3/8" x 8" x 3 3/8" deep. Bottom drawer has original lock(no key) and is lined with a silver color paper which appears to be very old. The ... morestyle is from the 1830- 1840 period and that's when I believe this was made. There is a signature written in ink on the underside of the top. But it is very difficult to decipher(see photo below) I think the small circular inset in the table top might be a deliberate example of the maker's skill rather than a later repair, but it could be to"mend" a flaw in the wood I guess. There are several closed age related cracks to the top surface and some light scratches commensurate with its age, also a small black indentation, but they are not disfiguring and show in the photographs. With table tilted height is approx 8.70 inches, with table top flat, height is approx 5 inches and diameter is approx 7 inches. Overseas buyers are welcome with postage at cost but please wait for an invoice as the postage quoted in the listing is for UK delivery. Sorry but I am not willing to post to Italy at this time. Antique Miniature Doll Chest with Hankie Drawers Salesman Sample 12” High x 12” Wide x 6 ½“ Deep*It is darker than it looks in the photos. The finish has a darkened aged look– beautiful. This is a wonderful old piece- I believe it to be about 1920 It has 2 handkerchief drawers on the top. There are 2 drawers side by side and below those. 2 large drawers. The drawer pulls are wood. There grooves in the 2 small drawers and in the bottom drawers. On the sides of the chest. There are grooves again, nice detail. When it is upside down the bottom is the bottom of the last drawer. Only one side of the center drawer is dovetailed, it was easier and cheaper to make that way. The salesman had the one corner as an example to show his customers. Condition: Really very good. There are no splits in the outside wood. A couple of the drawers have wood ... moresplits(inside) The corner of the back right facing leg was broken off. But it looks like someone shaped it. It is not noticeable unless you compare the sides. There is a stain in one drawer see photo. All of the drawers slide easily. It needs a good cleaning. Look at all the photos and ask questions. Antique 1877 Hump Back Doll Child's Steamer Toy Trunk Miniature Salesmans
Antique dome top style miniature trunk. The small trunk may have been a child's doll trunk or possibly a salesman's sample. The brass lock has patent dates of March 69 and April 77. The circa 1877 trunk measures about 15 1/2" long x 10" wide x 12 1/2" tall. As pictured. The trunk has the original leather handles and interior tray. The exterior of the trunk has stamped metal with flower designs. The antique trunk is in original condition with leather intact handles and rollers on the bottom. No rust through was found on the metal. The interior paper has wear and the tray has old inactive insect damage. There is no other insect damage to the trunk. Only the back side of the tray. The metal was cleaned with a brass brush and the slates were refinished. The side wood panels were also refinished; there may have been paper ... moreon the sides at some point. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This is a wonderful handmade miniature antique chest of dresser drawers made of Mahogany I believe; it is nicely grained and dense and feels heavy for its size. It has a nice form and it dates to the 19th century- the turned knobs look like 1860s. But there are old wire nails so maybe 1880s. The drawers are nicely dovetailed. Note the interesting case with the bottom drawer; a lock installation was started but never finished, and I believe this was absolutely original to the piece when constructed. The piece measures 10 3/4 inches tall and 10 3/8 inches wide across the top. The dresser is in good antique condition. The old finish looks original. As shown in the pictures. The two top ... moreside mouldings are missing. The back has an age crack, normal for a backing of this age, otherwise, it shows just the normal signs of age and use. Please see my detailed pictures. Since I am not an expert on furniture styles) It is an older piece of unknown age with dove tail joints that are hand made. An eBayer has just informed me that it is American made and dates to an era between1835 and 1840 and be based his information looking at the dovetails and the bottom of this piece. This piece might have been a salesman. Tradesman or apprentice sample and it might have also been a sample of a future wedding furniture gift. In older times it was a custom to give to the newly weds a miniature of a piece of furniture that was being ... moreordered as a present. Or it might be a jewelry box or a doll chest of drawers furniture. The wood in the piece is a combination of solid and veneered mahogany depending on where it is. The backing is plywood and it seems it was added later. The top and the bottom are serpentine shaped as well as the hidden drawer. There are 3 drawers of decreasing size + 2 smaller drawers above which there is a hidden drawer. The hidden drawer has a book matched front. Beneath the hidden drawer and the two small drawers and the next drawer there are three dust boards. There isn't a dust board between the two last drawers. Although the rails are there. The bottoms of the drawers are carved in order to make them better fitting and sliding. The key holes are brass and at one time there must have been a lock on the bottom drawer since there are the remnants of the carvings to fit the lock. The eight tiny pulls are 3/8" in diameter x 1/2" deep. It has 4 bun feet. The total height of this chest is 12 3/4" tall x 12 7/8" wide and 6 1/4" deep. An authentic antique Victorian period one. Made sometime between 1850-1899. It is either a salesmans sample or a doll trunk. Either way it is a fantastic Primitive piece. Folk art like. Has a solid wood hand constructed body. With beautiful original wall paper wrapping all around it and inside in various patterns. With a metal band around the edge. With the original lock. I do not have the key for it. It has leather strap hinges on the back. Which are no longer attached. So the lid comes all the way off. It then has great brass or metal tacks all around it. Here's a Very Old. Antique Miniature Arch Top Trunk for Dolls. Please, see all the pics as they are an important part of the description. This is from the 1800s and from what I can gather, through a little research, it's probably from the 1850s to 1870s but, I'm not positive.you girls who collect these things will know by looking at it, immediately. It Measures 14" Long X 8 1/8" Front to Back X 9" Tall. Both the Trunk and the Tray are structurally sound with no loose joints or corner wiggling or racking.it's firm all around. The Latch is Original, I believe but the rear hinges look to be of a later date. The Original painted cotton cloth covering(over the wood) which is what they used back then(much the same as many full-sized trunks from back then) is torn and/or missing in several areas. I suppose this can ... morebe restored if so desired. There are two knot holes in one end of the trunk. These were not drilled by anybody.they are actual natural holes where the knots fell out a long time ago. The Original Interior Paper covering is well worn. There is no key and was lost probably a very long time ago. One of the Leather Handles is torn off but I have left it in the tray for you. I'm a guy and don't know much about these things but I can actually say that it's pretty neat! Because of the condition issues, which I have described(along with the pics) this is being sold AS IS.
