This 19th century three drawer chest measures 40 1/2 inches in height from the floor to the top of the back-splash.30 3/4 inches in height to the top of the marble at the front,30 1/4 inches wide by 15 1/4 inches deep and weighs approximately 95 lbs. The beveled edge marble top is original to the piece and has the marble candle stands intact. Marble is in wonderful antique condition with no chips or cracks. This lovely chest offers wonderful storage with its two smaller drawers over two larger ones with each drawer having burl walnut fronts and period dove-tailed ends with beautiful spoon carvings flanking the drawers. Up for auction is a large Victorian chest of drawers. It has a solid walnut beautiful turned spindle gallery on its top. The drawers are walnut with walnut burl veneer accents and carved embellishments on each drawer. There are a total of 6 drawers with the original ebonized and brass pulls. The top drawer is smaller than the lower drawers. The original hinged lock side lock is functional and has a key. The chest looks to retain most of its original finish. But I am no expert on this matter. The chest also retains the original ebonized side panels. The chest of drawers looks to be on its original metal reinforced casters. This piece is very well built. Wonderful Victorian Walnut& Burl Lockside Chest with Desk Brass Pulls c1880's Being offered for sale is this wonderful Victorian Solid walnut& burl walnut Lock-side chest with pull out desk circa 1880's. This 19th century chest is executed in walnut with beautiful raised panels of walnut on each drawer front with what we believe the original period pulls. The pull out desk area has newer replaced felt on the writing surface with a fitted desk interior. This chest is very solid and tight and nice and clean. The side lock is intact but we do not have they key. There is a small piece of veneer loss about the size of a quarter on the bottom drawer and a small area of loss on the felt on the inside desk area. Nothing that takes away from this chest but a part of its character. Age and usage from the past 130 years or so.This early ... morechest with desk is ready for use for many more years to come. I bought this as late 19th c but I believe it to be early 20th c.nice quality quarter sawn oak construction and thick burl walnut veneer.carved and gilt molding around the glass panes.I like this because it is not very deep.If I had a place for it at home I would keep it and put a collection of palest plates in it.Nice condition small crack in one glass(some molding over hinges lost makes it look older! I can fix the wood for you before it ships out. This is a sexy piece would be nice for a shop display.
