Circa 1860-1880 European All Metal-Body ShippingTrunk
This is a great aged looking trunk! It is a somewhat rare and hard to find trunk. In the mid 1800's. A new style of all metal body trunks came about. These began primarily in England, and were made as an attempt to cut production costs of wood body covered trunks, while still producing a solid and sturdy trunk. These are not as common as many trunks, and have a unique style and beauty all their own. I have only seen one other like this one; that is where I got the age estimate from. The trunk outside dimensions are@ 26" long x 17.75" wide x 16" tall; inside dimensions are@ 24.5" long x 16" wide x 12.5" tall. The trunk is in great condition for it's age and use. It has no lapse; however. The locking mechanism is there and, I think, is complete. The trunk has an@ 1/8" diameter hole on the top right ... moreof the cover( see the picture with the cover raised) Both handles are present, in good condition, with working hi nges, and work well. The cover has two working hinges that hold in up when opened. Eac h corner has a separate metal-plate attached as a reinforcement. It has the normal bumps and dents one would except to find in a shipping trunk. It has a dent on the left back at the place where dents should go. Another on the bottom, and it has a dent or two along the top cover. As said before. Real good condition for it's age and use! Please look at the pictures and judge for yourself! Victorian Tunbridge Ware Domed Box. Circa 1880 This is a beautiful Domed Tunbridge Ware Box measuring 10 1/4 inches in length. 5 1/2 inches in depth and the height is 5 inches. Circa 1880. It has wonderful geometric design of inlaid decoration spanning the front through to the back of the box with a central inlay on the lid. There is a brass escutchion(sorry. No key) and the lid is domed in shape. Condition: There is a few surface scratches consistent with age. On the front of the box on the right hand side there is a section of banding missing, photograph provided.

Antique Steamer Canvas Covered Flat Top Chest/Trunk Circa 1880-1910 with Keyhole
This chest may be a Jenny Lind(the top of the line for its time) due to the keyhole in front(no key included; has a lock. But whoever had the key locked the latch-trunk still opens and shuts, just doesn't lock without key, but has latches on each side) but I can not positively identify it as a Jenny Lind. I am unsure what type of wood this chest is made of, but it is dated circa 1880-1910 due to the embossed metal coverings, and the fact that the low flat tops were created beginning in 1880. This is a very hard to find 3-slat topped chest, as most for sale are only 2 slats. It has hardwood staves with metal trim and added hardware. The inside has the pins left for holding the cloth that used to be inside. It would make a great antique collector's addition, or could even be made into a table! For sale today is a beautifully restored stagecoach humpback trunk I did not find any patent dates on this trunk and based on 40 plus years restoring trunks I would date this trunk to the 1870's to 1880's which makes this neat old humpback as much as 124 years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the wood bottom is solid. Has multiple coats of paint, three original slats, three original metal wheel. The two original hinges are HD, tight and the lid closes well. There are 20 plus polished pieces of original hardware. The center lock is polished and there is no key. "Pirate's" Camelback Trunk W 36"X H 21"X D 19" circa 1880's LOCAL PICK UP
OK. So.this is an awesome, small size camelback trunk. It does look like a"Pirate's" chest to me. Major rust and wood issues.I began to"restore" this but it was beyond my tools and skill set. I did remove the flowered paper from the inside from a previous restoration. I have cleaned it. Taken some rust off with grinding wheels, etc. It is a project but a worthy one! Look up restored trunks and you will see a nice return for a good effort. This one is absolutely unique with many"bells" and whistles in ornamentation. Check out the pics. This 19th century chest of drawers is solid walnut. And is often referred to as a"Lincoln Dresser" Its distinct styling features a marble step down surface, flanking two glove box drawers.
